I have 20 years of experience calculating chemotherapy doses and was distracted and mixed 100 mg nic as if it were 24 mg.(while cooking,caring for a 3 year old and watching Oprah) .....DO NOT USE 100 MG e-liquid unless you are experienced and not distracted. This is embarrassing to admit but worth it to bring serious nature to attention of new DIYers. I caught the error as I always recheck each bottle like I did the meds. Check twice, calculate twice, place each ingredient aside together and recheck bottles after mixing. Good quality assurance= safety.

I too, was concerned about using 100mg nic. What I did was to mix up 24mg batches in 30ml amber glass dropper bottles. That way, I never have to directly use from the 100mg bottles.

I find that this method is safer and easier to work with as I always know that I'm starting with 24mg of nic.

BTW - I use amber (or any colored bottle will do) to slow down any degradation of the nic and then store the bottles in a dark case.

I did exactly the same thing only in 4oz. cobalt dropper bottles. It's worked beautifully for me too. I'm still very careful with it but not as intimidated.

PV: I spent weeks reading and re-reading this. I know it'll take me quite some time to absorb and digest all this info. Made a few more flavor orders (No capellas yet, they don't carry anything I want I can't get elsewhere). Now I'm eying nic mixes. Need to do more searching to find a good supplier of nicotine bases. I don't trust myself with a high nicotine base mix.

This is a wonderful resource for a new DIYer. I'm generally a lazy sort but I'm finding that flavor mixes I like most tend to be odd and not normally carried elsewhere (Earl Gray/honey/brandy for instance). Thank you for putting this list together and updating it so often, it's wonderful!

I am unsure what you are asking. You can download an excel reader for free. Google "read excel documents"...download the xls reader and voile...you can read excel. VG/PG are interchangeable. Just use vg where it says pg. Does that answer your question? An all VG e-liquid will be very thick and may be ok at high voltage but most use at least 20% vg for vapor production and to thin the e-liquid. If you can not tolerate any pg I recommend using some alcohol...either pure grain alcohol or high alcohol content vodka. I like vanilla flavored vodka for many of my e-liquids.

There is currently NO calculator that I know of that will calculate dilution levels for VG nic and give you the resulting nic level you want without you having to fiddle around with the water/pga numbers. I think I know what you're saying, and I wish I had the time or experience to make one.

For now you just have to manually calculate your water/pga based on your VG (I use something like 20% or 15% of the VG amount) and enter that into whatever calculator you want, then use the PG nic box for the VG nic.

There are many online calculators linked in the guide, but if you want to use an excel calculator online like Switched's or Dan's, you can upload it to docs.google.com and work with it there. Unfortunately, the xls readers bonnie mentioned don't let you edit the document (as far as I've seen), which you have to do to put in your numbers.

I really like XtremeVaping nic liquid. It doesn't give me heartburn like the other major supplier I bought from. Plus he's great to deal with and I trust him to give us the best quality liquid available.

I just ordered from there as well and have heard some good things. I wanted to say thank you also to PUREVAPOR for this great section in the forums! I have been reading up and down and has helped me alot to get on the right track on making my own liquids and saving money. A BIG THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN~

I can use the calculator of Dans with the google docs downloaded. It lets me adjust the numbers..idk...weird...I finally did something right on the computer...LOL

ExtremeVaping is where I get my nic from and always will. You can get 24mg nic (or lower so all you have to do is add flavoring) in vg, pg, or combo. Although I have never "talked" to Levy, his commitment to customer service, quality of nic and safety is beyond excellent. Plus, his prices are more than reasonable.

Sounds just like me. Not sure what you're asking about VG nic. When I mix mine, I just use what is provided on the calculator. If it states %pg nic, or %pg,vg nic, I just substitute my vg nic.
Same with % of pg to use. Just substitute my vg for glycerin.

I use distilled water instead of alcohol. Don't know if there is a difference between the 2, but I still get great flavor and vapor production.

Re: pg. Just did a batch of juices 'bout 2 weeks ago with PG. Without a doubt, I cannot tolerate PG. Couldn't make it through the night with the juices. The inside of my mouth felt like I had been sucking battery acid. It was so raw and hurt like hell. This was the 3rd time I tried PG.

The VG I use is made by NOW company. They state that their VG is even safe enough to take internally.

I have always been a caramel lover....started vaping in March 2008...after 30 years of 2 packs a day. I quit with a 510 and 555 blend. After my tastebuds returned, I desired more caramel and less tobacco flavor.
This is the result of my quest for the perfect old fashioned caramel taste.
Loranns.....Yuck...chemical taste 1/5
capellas....getting closer...needed 20% even after sitting for 48 hours 3/5
flavourart......much closer.....needed 15%...still missing something 3/5
Talked to Linda at PA..(.what a delightful lady)She sent me samples of two caramels before she posted a DIY section for us. The first was labeled caramel and it was spot on for a good caramel at 10%. The second was labelled caramel candy as she explained that old fashioned caramel had a rum background. I started at 10% and checked after 24 hours and WOW...too much flavor is a bad thing. Flavourart caramel candy at 5% is the most perfect caramel for me. She has not added the flavor as yet (last I checked) but....it is the perfect caramel for me. 5/5
It is most cost effective, has better flavor at lower % and reminds me of penny candy childhood dreams.
In my experience...and I mix all of my own e-liquid.......more is not better. Let the mix sit for 24-48 hours
to enhance the base flavor use EM before adding more flavoring
Start low and patiently add as needed.

TG for this thread and the flavoring guide. I've never mixed before....read this and studied it....ordered, experimented and everything I made is totally vapable!!! I CANT BELIEVE IT!!! I don't think I'm ever buying pre-made again. Knowing the purity of it makes me sooooo happy. ALSO, I'm using all VG in my base and nic juice and the stuff is still KILLER!!!!.....and I consider myself very picky in the flavor category of nic-juice.

I'm "yumming" up a storm, and my hubby thinks its a riot!!

So far I have tried Decadent Vapour @10-15% and PA at 12-14% for the few flavors I have mixed. It seems the more juice, the more TH. I wouldn't use any flavoring not on this list above (Brand wise) because I tried a couple in the past randomly and their flavoring really turned me off for months before I tried DIY again....with research under my belt this time.

I'm very psyched about making my own pure juice that is all VG. I never vaped VG cause its gross when I ordered it from everywhere ....BUT V4L VG was excellent!!! I've only ever been focused on enjoying the flavors enough to keep me away from analogs...didn't care about the base...but since I'm making it... WY NOT!!!!

I love your enthusiasm! I'm brand new to DIY mixing, but am having a blast with it as well. I feel like a mad scientist in a laboratory with all these droppers and vials.

Since you said you got some PA flavors, I've got a recipe for you to try if you have these two flavors (if you don't, then run - don't walk - to order them!). Try mixing Graham Cracker at 10% with VG. Fill a 3 ml bottle with it and then add one drop of Cinnamon Red Hot to it. I find it divine...

Wow, I've just read this whole thread this morning and my head is spinning. I'm so glad I went with 60mg liquid, still high, but easily dividable. I never got below an A in chemistry so I THOUGHT I could do this all myself but I am going to use everything in here and we'll see how it comes out; I would love to do some PIF'ing and find out how my concotions taste to others once I get my .... in gear.

I guess people are overwhelmed by this thread, but I'm not looking for much in the replies. Any suggestions for improving the information is great, or just a nod if it helped you.

I suppose I'll throw in my review of flavors I've tried.

LorAnn Mango - great flavor if you like the fruit. I use about 15% in an only-Mango mixture. I give it a 5/5.

LorAnn Cheesecake - one of the best flavors by LorAnn according to many, although I think English Toffee may be better (I have a sweet tooth ). It's pretty weak, I use 25% by itself but I usually mix it with another flavor now. I give it a 5/5

LorAnn Chocolate Hazelnut - tastes a bit like chocolate syrup or liqueur, but I'm quite a connoisseur of chocolate (I won't eat Hershey's), so I wasn't surprised that it wasn't up to par. It still tastes great mixed with mint, like a Junior Mint or York. It's very strong, I use about 12% by itself. I give it a 4/5.
