Guns are simply a part of this country. Yes, they are those that don't like them. They are loud and they attract attention. But they are not the majority. Most of the gun owners just go about their day to day lives not bothering anyone or making a fuss.

There is no gun registration, so there is no way to know the exact number of guns in the U.S., but most estimates say that there are just as many guns here as there are people. Maybe even more.

I leave the house everyday with my vape, wallet, keys, phone, flashlight, knife, and a gun. Usually it is a Springfield XDS .45. I have others, but that is my everyday carry. I carry it for self defense. Plain and simple.

I also have a couple shotguns and a few rifles. One shotgun is for home defense. The other and the rifles are for hunting or just shooting for fun. Hell, I haven't managed to go hunting in years. But that doesn't mean I am giving up my guns. A gun isn't a dangerous thing. It doesn't hurt people. It doesn't do anything. It sits there. Just like anything else. The person wielding the gun is what can be dangerous. Whether it be from intent or lack of knowledge on how to properly use and handle it. What we need is more education about guns. Not more restrictions.

How about laws pertaining to gun storage ?.

Does a gun owner have to keep their gun/s in a secure place locked away ?.

I imagine if a home were to be burgled whilst the occupant/s were out then the intruder could potentially help themselves to any firearms they might find.

Obviously a gun owner would keep their guns in a safe place away from everyone else in the household.

Are there any laws which dictate how guns should be stored !?.

The only real threat from gun ownership is if said gun/s were stolen and used illegally by the criminal element of society.

If you could make any changes to existing gun laws, what would they be ?, and why ?.

There are many gun forums where the information you seek is available and plentiful.

Some anti second amendment/anti gun activists will post questions like these (how many do you have, could you post some pictures, etc.) on non gun forums for the purposes of information gathering. I am not saying that is what you are doing, but personally I would never provide that kind information to someone on the internet.

I 'd imagine those anti gun activists would get all the informatin they need in the gun forums you've mentioned. And those who provide information in those forums i have no doubt have no problem with it. So i really cannot see any difference between any gun forum and forums which are not dedicated to guns when it comes to talking about gun ownership etc.

The lounge forum is open to all kinds of topics.

I am aware of that. And those that wish to divulge personal information, be it how many guns, cars, mods, atomizers, yearly income, etc. they have to the general public are certainly free to do that. My personal choice is; No, it's none of your business. But that's just me, kind of funny that way...

But !.............

I figured if people felt that way they wouldn't bother commenting.

How odd would it be if everyone who felt the way you do would post a comment just to say they don't want to post a comment !!!!!!.

It's a waste of my time having to read those posts.

I would have to stand behind Johan55's thoughts on this topic. It does appear to be a troll for information and really not appropriate to the site's content. I've been watching this thread with interest and honestly you seem to be working way to hard on a topic that is not germane to the subject matter whether it be our lounge or another one of the forums.

The purpose of The Lounge (and The "Outside") is to have a Place where threads do Not have to be e-Cigarette Related.

If the OP wants to talk about Guns, I say Go For it. And If people think it is a Troll Thread, that's fine Also.

No one forces Anyone to Post. And I'm Not Sure why someone Can't have an Opinion about Guns without Divulging Personal Information?

My latest questions, with guns being a subject of great debate in recent months, is what do people think about how safely gun owners keep their guns locked away in their homes ?, and whether there are laws concerning the level of security guns should be kept under ?. So it's a question of the dangers related to house burglary. What the results could be if those guns were to be taken and used illegally.

Those are the current questions.

Firearm Laws vary from State to State in the USA. In the State I live in, one can be held Criminally Liable if a Firearm is not Stored in a "Safe Manor". And a Firearm Owner must make a "Reasonable" Attempt to insure that a Non-Authorized Individual can Not Obtain or Operate an Owners Firearm.

Just been racking my brains trying to think why an anti gun activist would go to any other forum other than a gun forum to glean information about people and their firearms.

Stupidest made up crap i've heard in ages.

If i could post in the outside forum i would. But i can't so i posted this here.

Better late than never..

Same goes for any anti-(fill in the blank).

Anti like to distort facts to fit their agenda and win hearts. Going to any forum they are against is like vampires going outside and sun bathe.

Outside... There are few gun threads already there.. And it's like going in a shark tank with bloody clothes on. ;)

So i don't live in the USA as i said. What i'm interested in though is what the stutus quo is regarding federal gun laws and their storage. Someone mentioned there are some laws that say owners have a legal responsibility to store their guns safely. My query is whether Americans would embrace a federal law which demanded that all guns in the home should be kept locked down in a gun safe. A measure which could prevent or reduce gun crime.
