Ummmm... well. It wasn't really the idea for a thread. I sorta hijacked another thread and it turned to this. Then the guys told us to go stand in the corner... and here we are.
Since we're still sharing, here's my goofy 90lb Pit Bull thinking he's small enough to sleep in the cat bed...

I have a lilac Oriental Shorthair. I had a chocolate lynx point Siamese, but he died just before Christmas.
I also have a "giant" APBT, a Boston Terrier, and a Ball Python... although I forget she's there most of the time.
When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them I am a Zookeeper.
Blondie your animals are sooooooo beautiful! the orientals omg!!! LOVE love!!! And your beautiful brindle and boston are magnificent! i actually breed boston and harlequin great danes as well. A couple of pics of my boston girls..and one of my beautiful brindle too!!

Laura your little poodle..and I am guessing your daughter are just precious!!! Poodles are one of my most favorite breeds of all time, and I love training them!!! How sweet!!!!!
Thanks Lelly for the compliments! yup you figured out who I am..it's my kennel name actually..DANESNPITS..my two breeds of dogs I will have until I am in a wheelchair..then it will be chihuahuas...lmao..cuz all the chi's i have trained act like pit bulls in little tiny bodies. just kidding!! I have always wanted to work in a pig barn, and it sounds like u have done some amazing work! Birth always fascinates me, no matter what species of animal it is..thinkin' it is cuz I can't have kids so I mother the animals.

Now isn't that the most beautiful family you have ever seen!! Lelly I am soooooo jealous!! hahahaha but in a healthy way! Those babies of yours..oh my!! Thank you! I LOVE Orientals. They're quite the personalities. My girl (the lilac OSH) Kali talks ALL the time - the breeder didn't know if she would be able to sell her - she talks THAT much. Makes my mother laugh every time she calls. Mom is convinced that Kali knows Grandma is on the phone. She's 8 years old now, and still loves to play fetch like she was a kitten.
My boy (the choc lynx Siamese) Shiva died just before Christmas of complications arising from a saddle thrombosis. In my arms, also. When he presented with his initial symptoms I rushed him to the vet (got there within an hour), and she worked on him for close to three hours to clear the clot. I took him home and further treated him there. We thought he might pull through, but it was too much strain on his little body. He ended up dying of complete organ failure. The vet was a little surprised I chose not to put him down immediately (I told her I didn't care what it cost or what the odds are. Try anything.) I still miss him terribly, but at least I got two more days with him, and he died at home where he belonged. He would have been 11 this month. My favorite pic of him:
His breeder almost didn't wouldn't sell him to me. He would have been a Champion if not for a small kink at the end of his tail. She wanted to keep him for breeding, but Shiva and I were insistent.
The dogs were my boyfriend's... until he met me, that is. (He now calls Chopper, the APBT, "Mama's Suck".) They've been quite a handful.... they'd been "Perform for Treats" trained, rather than obedience trained. That doesn't work so well for me - and I'm sure you understand COMPLETELY. The worst was the bolting. And, of course, with a "giant" APBT... that's the last thing that's needed. They have a bad enough (and HUGELY undeserved) reputation as it is. No need to scare people with a 90lb "killer" running free around the neighbourhood every time the door opens.
My boyfriend and his kids think it's hilarious that Chopper is now the "good dog", compared to the Boston, Trixie. It's been a LOT of work (Chopper is 4 and Trixie is 6) breaking them of their bad habits, and instilling good behaviour, but sooo worth it. Eventually, I want to get them to a point where I can take them outside completely off-leash. (Hurry up, Spring. It's hard to train indoors!!)
Your dogs are GORGEOUS! I've always been fascinated by the intricacies of breeding and bloodlines. (My two cats actually came from the same bloodline, although I bought them from different breeders.)
Both of our dogs are still intact. My boyfriend thinks they would make cute puppies. Good grief! He's an idiot. Chopper does try every time Trixie is in heat, but unless he figures out he needs to put her on a stool or something... Not to mention a pregnancy like that would be harrowing for the poor girl!
Hahaha. So true, though! I've always found smaller breeds more vicious than larger. I worked in a vet clinic when I was a kid, and the dog that I was terrified of was a Daschund. The other vet techs and I would argue about who had to hold her down when she would have exams or shots.

Our dog looks like a mini yellow lab (25lbs), but he's kinda long in the back and short in the leg - as if a lab somehow mounted a dachshund. Got him at the SPCA 10 years ago.

That is such a pretty pic Blondie!! Beautiful young lady with a beautiful Oriental!! I am thinking of getting another breed of cat but not sure what. So far I have bred bengals, Devon Rex and now Sphynx, and have owned Norwegian Forest Cat, Balinese, Siamese, Ragamuffin, Ragdoll, and Cymric. There are so many jungle hybrids out there now and other cross breeds people are devloping into new breeds. Any ideas? The orientals are stunning! I might have to research the breed a bit more. The OSH has been around a while - reports vary from the 1800s to the 1950s, although was not registered with the CFA until the late 1970s. They are members of the Siamese breed group, so physical standards and temperaments are the same. The only thing that differs is their colours.
Kali's mama looked almost identical to my boy, except she was a blue lynx point. (Her breeder started her cattery with Shiva's Grandpa, Meadow Mews Blue Gremlin.) Kali's dad was a cinnamon OSH. I found a picture of him:
You never know what you're going to get in a litter when you breed Orientals - well, you can guess a little. Kali's littermates were varied - they were all various colors of Siamese, and then two lilac (or lavender) OSH. The lilac really is a stunning color. Under most light she looks a lavender-grey, but if the sun hits her just right she's positively purple.

I'm actually REALLY interested in what will happen with your kittens. When I bought Shiva 11 years ago I had also been looking at Bengals. It was a tough decision. There was a little white leopard that almost came home with me.
