It is a blossoming of fun and frolic, a playful obsession, which sprouted from the fetid dungheap of a nasty, deadly addiction. Still addicted to nicotine; But not to cigarettes! YAY!!!

Playful obsession?

Oh like my ball gags!

Good post friend. :)

A habit is curling around three times before going to sleep, or biting your nails. A hobby is building model planes, or gardening.

This is more like a less harmful, less addictive, substitute to smoking. It's drug harm minimisation, and its a means to an end in terms of dealing with, or getting out of, addiction.

Perhaps if your one of the many folks who tapered down to just zero nic, you could call it a habit. You could probably call it a hobby then too, if you were a fully casual vaper.

Outside of that, I dont really see either of these words as accurate descriptions. But then I wouldnt decribe an eight-ten cup of coffee a day routine as a habit, or hobby either (no matter how many latte machines they had).

Its just fun/nicer to think about it in these other terms, accuracy aside.

I mean, its easier to get into, as opposed to smoking, if your interested in the gear, the technology, the look, the devices, enjoying the flavours etc.

A bit like its easier to go for a walk or a run with an mp3 player, or a nice new pair of shoes. Generates yourself a bit of enthusiam/enjoyment.

Plus your are not at all unique in buying stuff, if your inclined to horde gear. Our society is full of people acquiring various kinds of crap. Its a bit weird, but it is what it is.

I cannot tie it up in a neat little one word description. I wish I could but for me it is simply a way to indulge my addiction to nicotine in a manner that I believe won't result in dying a horrible death due to complications from smoking tobacco. I also like indulging in the gadget/tinkering/social aspects of vaping.

At work I have all my vapes, plus 3 or more prefilled, preprimed carto tanks in my breast pocket (not including those already on my vapes), and spare juice. I am the Batman of vaping.

My coworkers always come rushing to me when their set-up hiccups, their battery dies, or any number of things crap out on them.

EDIT: Ah, my man purse... the Crown Royal Bag.

Habit: a behavior pattern acquired by frequent repetition or physiologic exposure that shows itself in regularity or increased facility of performance.
Hobby: a pursuit outside one's regular occupation engaged in especially for relaxation.
Addiction: compulsive physiological need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as ......, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal.
Based on these definitions, I guess it is nothing more than a habit for me at this point.
But it is a habit that serves a critical need and I would replace it with another habit if I were I to stop vaping.

I prefer to consider it a hobbit.......

still spend less then i did on cigs and i feel better knowing... well.... i feel better.
and its cool to spend the money and actually see something besides an ashtray full of butts the next day, so i dont care.

Would go along with hobbit as getting the nic fix is only a part of what I enjoy about 'vaping'. Love the gear and experimenting with new flavours and enjoy the 'fiddling' and even with my indulgences it works out cheaper and healthier than fagging. An added bonus is that I am not washing my clothes to death because they smell of stale smoke!! Cheers from Tassie and happy vaping E1

Yes... it's my preciousss...

See my sig line... LOL

Looking at everything available and trying new juices is a hobby that supports my hand to mouth flavor habit which makes my addiction less harmful. It's not something that falls into one neat little category. I also don't think the addiction is as bad as some make it out to be. I have a little group of converts who started vaping to get off the cigs, some aren't vaping anymore, some are truly casual 0 nicotine vapers, some are casual low nicotine vapers. I don't think the addictive qualities of nicotine by itself are anywhere near what the addiction to the WTAs in a cigarette are. I can vape all day or not at all. I don't freak out when I can't get to my vapes like I would without a cigarette.

Exactly.

I think MOST vapers, after they have been vaping for awhile, come to realize this.

There are people that have had trouble reducing nicotine strength...
And there are some that still seem to need to vape enough to keep up their nicotine levels...

But they seem to be more the minority from what I gather.

It makes me think that there are some people that really are quite addicted to the nicotine, whereas most others really aren't.
Or maybe there are a fair number of people who are using nicotine to medicate an underlying condition without knowing it.

I'm actually going to try some 0 nic at some point and see if I notice anything. I've got friends that do 0 nic. I just won't PAY for 0 nic. For some reason I keep hitting the 6mg button before I order. I guess I want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth.
