Has anyone quit real smoking?

I have been analog free for 1yr 3 mos. I had to quit because of pregnancy. I bought the e-cig because I returned to work and it is a high stress job. Most of my co-workers smoke. the urges came back and were horribly intense. I bought the 901 and have had it for 2 days and it takes care of the urges wonderfully so far, and the last 2 days at work were incredibly horribly stressful! Keep up with it and I believe anyone could go completely analog free. It depends on how bad you want to be rid of them.

thats great midnight,, already not smoking..
i need more will power to not have one every 5-6 hours..
Believe me, it's taking every bit of will power I have. I'm probably using the e-cig more than I should but it's keeping me from lighting up. The pack of cigs I have left are in the car, so the e-cig is easier to use.

Just wondering how many people have completely quit smoking, for how long, and how they feel in comparison.
I have smoked for about 12 years and have cut back from a pack a day to 8 cigs a day, so i think with the ecig I can stop completely, but my husband smokes alot and has a really bad smoker's cough, so I'm hoping if he can quit on these.

Got my e-cig on Tuesday, haven't smoked since Wednesday morning.

The gadget geek in me, who loves to order stuff online and anticipate the new toys in the mail, has beaten the tar out of the old 20-year smoker in me. Pun intended. A little enthusiasm goes a long way. I haven't touched a cig in 12 days. Amazing. The fact is that vaping is just more fun and interesting than smoking.

While it's been an investment (always have extra batts, atomizers, juice!), the benefits are off the charts. Beyond feeling and smelling better, just think of the health care costs you''d pay later as a smoker. Money well spent.

The obvious problem is that as long as you are addicted to nicotine, the threat of relapsing is still there. Just be prepared ...

The difficulty with vaping is the reliability of the things...I can get really fed up when things don't work properly and still need to have some tobacco to resort to.....but like most people say if you can get yourself sorted out with enough spares and back-ups.........smoking tobacco could be a thing of the past.

I personally have not quit all the way.....over a pack aday for25 years, and now only 5 or 6 cigs a day, not to bad.......The after meals cigs and one every 4or 5 hours are still my down fall....But that is the plan i set up to quit.....If its in your mind to quit you can if not you will not.... so my mind is set on doing it this way.....so far i am on course...... wish me luck... and good luck to whom ever wants to quit the real ones.....

later, Dean

I am officially 4 months free from analogs today!!:D I can't believe it! I honestly have not touched a single analog since 10/31/08. Yes, I have spent quite a bit on e-cigs, liquids, spare parts, etc..; although, feel so much better and am very grateful. I'll keep you guys posted if anything changes. Happy Vaping!

I'd smoked for 34 years, since I was 14. I liked smoking and wasn't expecting to stop, I just wanted to cut down.

The day I got my e-cigs from Simon in October (I think) last year, was the last day I smoked a tobacco cig.

No one is more surprised than me that I've quit.

And I bought a starter kit, a spare battery and a spare atomiser, and I'm still on the same ones. I've never cleaned an atomiser either.

I still have one good battery out of the originals too.

All in all, for me, vaping has been an expense and maybe even life-saving venture. I highly recommend it. :thumb:

I was a pipe smoker for 12 years, before that I smoked about a pack a day. Smoking my pipe was a ritual, not just a habit. It was my personal time to think and step aside from things. I finally reached the point though where the pipe was giving me such a bad feeling health wise that I knew I had to say so long. I tried a couple of stop smoking ideas but nothing was successful in replacing my pipe. I finally decided to give this a go. I am happy to say that so far things have been going well. I polished up the pipes and finally put them into storage, tossed that last of my tobacco and have been free for about two weeks now. Vaping helps to replace the ritual and the low nicotine keeps withdrawal and jitters manageable. Ideally this will not be a permanent solution. I would like to even eventually quit this but for the time being it is an acceptable replacement.

I am the same as Drag on did not plan to stop.

Bought my first e-cig in Oct mainly because I did not want to stand out in the cold and rain and also to cut down a bit.

Found within 24hrs I was only smoking 3 analogues a day and it dwindled to one or none
over the next few weeks.

Beginning of Dec I lit up and it made me feel sick have not touched one since.

I have quit analogs with the e-cigs. Very easy and my cough is gone.
