I had an occasion a couple of years ago where I got caught with no backups and even a cig a like in the store was like $18 - I was not going to pay that when I would be home with my gear in a couple of hours - so I bought a pack figuring I would either give it away or throw it away when I got home - back then a pack was about $3.50 - a lot less than $18. Took one drag - threw the whole pack away and just waited till I got home - learned right then and there - I was never going back...

No desire to smoke. I smoked one a year and a half ago after three months of vaping and I threw it away after two puffs cause it tasted like licking an ashtray. Vape tasted so refreshing. If you must try a couple puffs as it turned me off smoking forever. CHEERS!

Fortunately, I haven't had a cigarette in about 2 1/2 years since I decided to quit smoking and take up vaping. My wife had been smoking since then (and fortunately quit cold turkey a while ago) and I found the smell to be nasty. As long as I can vape I can't imagine relapsing or wanting to go back even for a try.

I smoked my last cigarette New year's eve. I don't miss the cough or the smell lingering in my hair but...I really did love to smoke. My kids bought my first kit because they knew I'd talk about it but not make the change myself. Lately I've felt the craving and after three months not sure why. I figure I'll just buy some higher nic to keep around for such occasions. I don't regret putting them down for one second and I'd be afraid to test my resolve just yet.

I had a few puffs about three weeks after I started vaping. Four puffs was enough to know how terrible it was. then... I had a couple puffs at a bar in the philippines of a menthol. that was not so bad. And then A few puffs again... and that was terrible. I also get the little voice sometimes telling me I wanna cigarette.

But then i just vape some deliciousness.

That voice usually comes up when I have been drinking.

I've tried to lie to myself, but the truth is that after a year smoke-free, cigarettes smell better now than they ever did when I was smoking. Passing smokers on the street and such, they smell quite inviting to me. If it smells good, it usually tastes good, so I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy a cigarette if I smoked one.

However, I haven't been in any stale cig-smoke rooms or in close proximity to dirty ashtrays, which were daily occurrences when I smoked. Also haven't had to be at close quarters with someone wearing smoke-impregnated clothing. In other words, I have more than enough negative associations with cigs to keep my willpower strong and curiosity in check.

But in the open air, they still smell good, especially when freshly lit.

Six+ years vaper here. ;)

On the day I made exactly one month vaping, I bummed a cigarette from a friend.

It did not taste bad that time, but it was... weird.

It felt like going back in time 20+ years. Back to that narrow time window when you can inhale the smoke without making a fool of yourself by coughing :) but that smoke still feels very heavy in your lungs. I felt like a recent smoker after smoking for almost 25 years.

I thought that was a good sign. My lungs were finally being able to get rid of all that junk.

Six months into vaping, I bummed a cigarette again.

Did not even finish it.

Of course, quitting smoking in a day and an half, without resorting to dual use, was the key here.
On the first weeks, it felt like the vapour from my e-cig (a modest, almost "cig-alike" Janty Dura at the time) was gradually becoming thicker. Well, it wasn't, of course. My lungs were clearing instead.

Today, my Kayfun's vapour fells like a cigarette back then. A tobacco cigarette would probably feel like half a dozen cuban cigars all lighted up at the same time and smoked with deep lung hits. :w00t:

I mostly find the smell disgusting nowadays, but I have experienced what you're talking about; was outside the car dealership's shop one day, having a vape, and a guy walked out, went about 20 ft from me, and lit up... at first it was no biggie, I was upwind... but then the wind changed and I got a big cloud of smoke... and somewhere in the stink, it almost smelled good to me... which terrified me enough to send me right back inside! I'd far rather they stank than smelled good; if I never ever have any of those hard, bone-deep cravings again, that'll suit me just fine. :thumb:

I actually thought about smoking one recently. I have not even had a puff of one since I switched to vaping in Dec. of 2012, after smoking for 26 years.

The only reason I was even considering it is because I was getting too caught up in the "sub-ohm" craze, and after watching PB's recent video on sub tanks I kind of connected with his comments. I took a step back and thought of what I started with and why I thought I needed so much more now. Not to mention that amount of juice I currently go through.

I thought to myself, maybe I need a reality check, a reminder of actually how tight a cig draw is and how much "clouds" are actually produced from smoking. I didn't do it, yet, but I have dialed back my wattage and airflow, in turn lowering the juice consumption.

I have not had a cigarette in about 7 weeks. There is a part of me that wants to have one, and lately it has been tougher. But the recollection of those aspects I didn't like about "being" a smoker that tends to put me off. For a long time, I vaped and smoked, hoping the smoking would start to taste bad--it didn't happen for me. That sort of scares me, and it has encouraged me "work" at switching entirely to vaping.

I think if you continue to smoke, your taste buds and sense of smell will not return. You actually need to stop smoking altogether. When I did, it took about a week to gag at the smell of a cigarette.

I did the opposite,
did a an almost full cloudchasing set up,
so I can take shorter drags like really short drags and a good lung vape, with a 6mg nic...satisfies,now instead of chain vaping ,
1-3 hits..i get nicd out..
and if stress is high,i big inhale...does the trick :)

Actually, I cut down quite gradually, over the course of a month... and I was starting to get back my sense of smell and taste by the time I was at half my usual consumption per day -- not fully, no, but by the time I laid the cigarettes down, the taste and smell just flat out offended me; they actually *burnt* my mouth! Felt like I was inhaling acid! Everytime I'd go out to smoke, as soon as I'd come back in, I'd have to wash the stink off my hands, and then vape like a maniac to get that awful taste out of my mouth. Finally, when I realized that I got a lot more TH from my vape than my cigarettes, I just laid them down, they were useless.

Don't do it. Just stay away from them for now. After a year or so, you'll wonder WTH you ever saw in the things. But after only seven weeks, yeah, I could see a possible relapse.

Thanks for your encouragement--I look forward to wondering WTH I liked so much about them. I get so tired of my own thoughts betraying me.

I've done pretty much the same. With a 0.5 Ohm Subtank on an eGo ONE battery, it produces way more vapor than I can handle, so I can take the hits I need instead of fighting to get the amount of vapor I want.
