Justin Bingham, vice president of marketing and corporate development, said the device administers enough nicotine that it is “not an appealing product to those who are not already addicted to nicotine.” He also said it will lock people out if it detects a person is using it too often.

Please deliver us from the nannies. I'm all grown up, I promise you and I do not need something that "locks me out if it thinks I'm using it too much".

Hah, madness.

Might be a good thing, I think a lot of people still see vaping as another form of smoking. The thick fog, the heavy-duty gear - maybe this will help provide an alternative to those who are scared of or don't trust e-cigs. If it works for them, hells bells yeah

Oh, I see, so as long as someone else can monitor your use of nicotine then it's ok. Are all the statistics uploaded to a mega server somewhere so "the man" can peruse all the data captured and use it in the fight against [insert current crisis]?

Absolutely agree with the grown up comment earlier, goodness forbid I should be allowed to go it on my own and possibly make a mistake at some point. Lessons would need not exist if we could always have someone to look after us and ensure we never do anything wrong.

I can feel the post on the coffee cup that will only allow you two cups a day
and cannot be used within 8 hours coming up again.

1. It'll lock me out if I use too much? Easy-peazy workaround: I'll get a second unit. "Rotating lockouts" so to speak...

2. Where's the vapor? Where's the flavor? No vapor? No flavor? Then I'd rather use a patch than suck on one of those oversized digital-thermometer-looking gizmos. Speaking of which:

3. productenicotin.jpg
Despite the appearance of the green checkmark (top center) on the ODTL gizmo, this, er, appliance does NOT carry the AgentAnia Seal of Approval. Do not confuse this with an AgentAnia-approved nicotine delivery device!

e-Nicotene Technology could be marketing this product today as a tobacco product (although I doubt they'd sell many), but instead they're trying to get more investors so they can spend millions of dollars applying for FDA approval as a drug device to treat tobacco dependence.

The most important sentence in the article is below.

e-Nicotene Technology has not yet begun clinical trials.

In the banner on the website, they mention some facts. One of them being, nicotine itself is not carcinogenic. WE have been spewing the same stuff for how long??? If it comes from Big Pharma, it must be true??

This thing is a little odd... I can't find a single mention of eCigarettes anywhere on their site...

the entire thing appears to act like its new and revolutionary... when it appears to be an unflavored eCig in an ugly package.

Fixed that for you Bill

I liken this device to a fancy regulated inhaler (i.e. nicotrol) than something comparable to an ecig.

I too wonder about that cartridge they say is equivalent to 10 packs of cigarettes. If that's true, the nicotine must be extremely concentrated and I'm not sure I'd want to rely on a programmable chip to regulate my dosage... Also I'd be very curious to know how they're going to "tamper proof" that cartridge. Titanium casing, perhaps?

As far as I am concerned, this is old technology already! I have two Nivel mods, both can be set to lock the vaper out of his/her device if their desired number of puffs is reached! I set it by accident when I first got it, when it locked me from taking a toot, I almost had a nervous breakdown! lol.

In an interview with the inventor (he is in Russia), He mentioned that people DO use the feature over seas. I for one, have no use for it.

Very interesting.... I could see someone using this, if he/she were trying to cut down or stop for example. Assuming the lockout feature was user-controlled and could be overridden, that is. However, being a firm believer in the KISS principle, I also see the feature as being just one more thing that could go wrong...

You don't understand! You can't possibly know how much nicotine is right for you. Only smart scientists and doctors can tell you that.

They can also tell you when you are thirsty and when you need to use the restroom.

Well, maybe now the people will finally see that "those e-cig touting quacks" were right all along, and stop busting our chops for using ecigs. But I recon that would be too much to hope for.

If you want a regulated intake of nicotine - just get an eVic, at least you can set the lockout threshold on an eVic :p
