Has the excitement and fascination with vaping diminished over time ?

I guess I've been lucky or just satisfied...maybe a bit of both.
I started out with eGo Twists and quickly moved to the Nova to top them.
Stayed there for a bit then wanted a good reliable battery device that I could just replace the battery and still use the device. So it was the nova and a Pthingy.
Stayed with that for over a year until just recently and waited until after a boatload of people had used what my next purchase was. A rebuildable that I finally learned how to build coils on.
I can see me staying with this combo.

I like knowing my devices and figuring out what makes them tick. A little gurgle....I know what to do. A bit of a dry hit....put too much filler in. Trial and error...got it all figured out now. I am in my happy place with vaping and I have no desire to keep trying to find nirvana. I feel like I have found my nirvana. :)

For some, the searching helps to keep them interested and off of cigs. For others, finding something that is almost as mindless as lighting up a cig does the trick. And there are probably lots of in between.

I started vaping to quit smoking. If I had known about my current set-up after my first ego died, I wouldn't have purchased the 9 or 10 other PV's and 25 or 30 toppers I have sitting in the drawer right now. All purchased in the first 4 months. Over the last 5 months I've only purchased juice and in those months my bank account has grown. I have 2 young, college students in their mid 20's that I have converted. When they feel the need to try something new they come and rummage in the drawer and swap out what they are currently using. So I guess I can't say it was money wasted because it has certainly helped those young men.

Stopped going to AA meetings, had a drink...

I stopped going to AA meeting for 8+ years, DIDN'T Drink. Then I went back for about 3 years. Stopped going again about 2.5 years ago and still haven't had a drink.

I'm going to a golf weekend tomorrow where everyone drinks, but me. I won't be drinking or even thinking about it. I'll stop vaping in about 3 months or less (Been cutting down already without even trying).

When you are over something you're over it.

My biggest headache today is making sure I pack all the vape gear I think I'll use this weekend. Juice, batteries, chargers (for Vape and phone).

PITA.

Which is all well and good -- as long as you don't have a drink. But PaulieD "picked up an analog". And I think the analogy is apt.

It is a PITA, but to me, it's totally worth it.

I guess it depends on one's purpose/goal with vaping.

For me, the final goal is to quit nicotine completely. My fascination with the new gears really have to serve that purpose. As long as my current gears can produce decent flavor, decent vapor production, and a sufficient nicotine hit, I'm good and have no desire to try anything new. I am like many others, I have one tank + mod setup that's the primary, with a second setup as backup. Again, this is with the final goal in mind; the backup prevents any potential gap and therefore prevents any cigarettes from creeping back in. I'm down from 24mg to 18mg juices. The next step is to go to 12mg, but I'm not in a hurry, I'll let my body get used to it slowly so I can succeed in kicking the nicotine habit completely this time.

As for a hobby, I can see vaping has the potential to become a very addictive hobby; as I'm trying to get rid of one addiction, I don't want to get into another. Maybe later, who knows?

I'm still fairly new to my vaping journey, but I'm still excited about it. I know that I've only used a few devices, and I want more! My lack of backups at this critical time has me worried...I have 150 mls of 12 mg in the mail on its way, which eases me a bit. My budget and lack of space keeps me in check, however. I live in a 26' RV...maybe I need to design some lightweight, shallow shelving. :)

I lost my obsession with vaping many years ago.

I've been using the same equipment for many years now as well...
Just an Ego Twist and standard 510 atomizer for dripping.

My passion for these products has now shifted to being a vaping advocate.
And that is a never-ending activity with no end in sight yet.

As far as my own personal vaping journey, 20 months in I'm pretty happy with the gear I have. I've been using the same devices for months now, and while I do tinker with them, and tweak my coils, I'm satisfied. That's not to say I don't look at the new and shiny things, I just don't buy them, for now.

I have no real plans to quit vaping, though I find my nic levels slowly going down. Like DC2 it's more about the advocacy and keeping informed now, and trying to help new vapers.

Juice is a whole different story, I've got my favorites but I'm always open to new flavors.

Yeah, I have mostly settled on about 10 different flavors, a few of which will work as all-day vapes when needed.
But I still buy some new flavors now and then, when I get in the mood.

My last purchase was to try unflavored.
Which came in the mail a few days ago, and I kind of like it.

Before that, it was Five Pawns.
:)

I've been lucky, I have a friend who has been stepping down his nic level, so I get all of his unused juice. I can vape anything from 0nic to 24mg, so I'll take it and vape it. I still go out to shops to sample new flavors but I haven't actually bought any juice in a few months either. I like the smoothness of Five Pawns, but none of the actual flavors do it for me. I haven't tried unflavored yet...

I started out slow with just a cigalike starter kit and I was happy with that for about 5 months but then....it happened. I went to the vape shop down the road for the first time and saw their stuff and every since then it's been a full on obsession. I don't know why I love it so much but it's become my hobby. I love collecting RBA's. I like the collecting part and the actual building and all of that. It's pretty much become my main hobby. Gaming got pushed to the side pretty quick when I got into rebuildables. Now most of my time when I'm not at work is vaping related.

I actually just counted, and I do have exactly 10 flavors in my "currently in the rotation" vape drawer right now.
Grandmaster is one of them.
:)

Also have some Castle Long Reserve in there as well...
But it won't stay in the rotation once it's gone.

My latest addition is Cosmic Fog milk and honey.
Not sure yet if that will stay or not.
;)

The only ones that are sure to stay are as follows...
--Halo Tribeca
--Halo Prime 15
--Tasty Vapor Lemon Poundcake
--Dekang DK-TAB

They have stood the test of time.

Things are changing though mate. Like you I still use my spinners. They just work.

I am on my wife's life insurance policy at her work. Last year they still classified me as a smoker. Yesterday afternoon, she talked to the rep and he asked her if I smoked. She said "no, he uses those e-cig thingies." He said, "Well, he is a non-smoker then."

In the last 2 years...

Family doc has me as a non-smoker
Life Insurance as a non-smoker

It may not be as fast as everyone wants, but at least in my little part of middle America.. it is changing.

Yes in the same boat as the OP. I don't get excited over vapemail anymore. I just buy juice now and rebuild RBA's that I have.

I've actually considered quitting altogether recently since my ADV recipe has changed for the worse. Not to be a downer lol, just feel I'm a slave to vaping like I was to smoking is all.

I know if I do decide to quit, I can keep some juice handy for those stressful situations where you crave a cigarette. Keeping a vape budget at $75 per month gets difficult to say the least.

I'm past the obsession stage. I spent a long time with Twists & Evod toppers. From there I tried a few things but now that I've been using REO/RM2 I'm not really interested in much else. I do have a few drippers I use with a mech but I'm not interested in adding anything else or exploring things further. I'm pretty happy with what I've got & don't see any reason to try something new.
