I didn't see this one addressed.. Does your BF smoke? If there is still $$ budgeted for his tobacco habit, it is only fair that whatever was spent on your tobacco, go toward vaping supplies IMO.. Even if he doesn't smoke, the tobacco you were budgeting for before was not free. ;) If your current setup fails before your planned upgrade, will you go back to buying tobacco?

True, I spent about $70,000.00 on cigs in my lifetime...no exaggeration!

That Provari all jazzed up and all of the tanks I have bought don't come close..hell I could go buck wild in the country and buy all the vape stuff I ever wanted and it would be hard to spend that much. A good Provari kit does not cost more than 2 months of cigarettes at a carton a week (if you bought them by the carton). If you bought them buy the pack...it is about three weeks worth of smoking.

If you are not smoking, you deserve a reward, that is my view...get a rig that makes you happy. And either use the one you have as backup or give it to someone who wants to quit and start vaping....:2c::2c::2c: just my inflationary two copper...

You don't need "a" set up, you need a quality good set up that you like and you need at least one functional back up. You are making a fabulous positive change in your life, those cigs are bad bad news. I knew it and smoked for 20 years anyway. Do not feel bad about doing what it takes to make the transition, "what it takes" can be accomplished for less than the price of smoking, the price of smoking, or more then the price of smoking, but remember to with smoking all the money was throw away. If you understand it and break it down for your BF then he has the opportunity to understand and get behind you on this...us boys need a task, pick a job for him to do to help you, he may just jump right on it. If you can break it down the costs for him in a reasonable way, and he is still an obstacle, I say remove obstacle he's bad news. If he wants to vape talk on gadgets and cost, pm me for my digi's and I'd be happy to walk through some options. The times you did not successfully transition before and the smoke at granny's are excellent examples as to why you need better hardware and more of it.

Non vapors and potential vapors look at the cost of hardware and think that is the big cost and they judge based on that cost...sure some of this stuff is not cheep but the "burn" cost is the juice and those disposable coils. And what's cheep? Well 6bux per pack of smokes, a pack a day, and we're working with $2200 bux per year. Now we've got a budget, less than that is cheep and saving money, there's nothing wrong with sticking to that, more is very justifiable IMO. Sure with vaping you spend in larger chunks but the numbers don't lie.

If you are willing to "get into it" a little more you can really save on the juice and coils. Perhaps a job for the BF. DIY juice gets super cheep and you can find everything you need to know right here at ecf. I haven't gone there yet, but get juice online that you pick flavor levels and PG/VG ratio then I order it with 200% flavor and my ratio so that I can cut it equally/50-50 with pure VG. Hit the sales and stock up. I'm at 7c per ml instead of the dollar per ml I was paying the first month for my favorite top shelf B&M juices. So like 100bux a year instead of over 1000. Sick that boyfriend on mixing. Oh I love my juice BTW and it is pharmaceutical grade VG I'm adding. Stay away from the cheep gas station juices, they came from china and they are sketchy.

Those throw away coils are a killer too. Many a fine lass around here can build a coil and you can too, but learn about battery safety first. Hmm did you say the BF needs a task to get behind this vaping (or did I say that lol)? kanger head can be rebuilt but look into the RTA's and RDA's at that point. Now you need MORE stuff kanthal, 15dollars for a few lifetimes supply of wick, some tools, stuff to store stuff in. Whew we've got a hobby here, but it sure is fun and interesting and it's SAVING MY LIFE. lets go way overboard here and call that stuff 100 bux too, it can be done for 30 though but we can lump some batteries and charger in here too. So where are we at? You have 2K over the next year for HARDWARE Yatzee!!!

For hardware on a budget the ELeaf iStick is getting a lot of support. iTaste VV3.0 is my wife's vape of choice, and innokin MVP 2.0 is solid. I think you should go ahead and get one, then as the vape budget builds with those 5 bux you stick in there every day you go ahead and get one of the other two, or come back and find the latest snazzy device to your liking. The ELeaf Lemo is a good budget RTA. Drippers are great but on as on the go friendly. Some folks have an issue with the more expensive REO's, Provaria's, WAEII, Vapor flask, Gorgeous high quality mech, etc.. type set ups because of the price tag. But these are not throw away devices like the first three I mentioned and at some level they hold resale value (not that I count that). And frankly the budget is there as compared to smoking stinkies. What does cancer or emphysema cost these days? How about one of those holes in your throat? Success is vital, and having good reliable set ups and back ups is essential. You also need to set aside some time for maintenance and such (like ecf).

Hope this helps, wish you the best. The BF can come around if you give him what he needs... communication and a job. GL
