The key to helping someone convert to e-cigarettes is finding
those who are "serious". To all the rest e-cigs are a novelty.
E-cigs are not an "equal" substitute but an alternative.

Don't waste time an energy arguing with those who
are not interested ... Tons of smokers are ready for an
alternative ... They just need to try a "good" e-cig that
produces good vapor with nic levels matching comfort zones.

They have to try an e-cig in order to truly understand.

In 4 years I've helped a hundred or so convert and those
are out there helping others.

The title is pretty self explanitory. Have you converted anyone from smoking cigarettes to the wonderful world of personal vaporizers?

It's too early to tell now, but I just got a friend of mine, who is a pretty heavy smoker, to give vaping a try in an effort to get off analogs. I really hope it helps him, because I haven't had or wanted a cig since I started vaping.

Converted? Not sure yet, but I've only been vaping for a around a month. At work, where I work for one company in a large office building, there are a number of people I "smoke" with. Once I started vaping, I didn't push anything and waited for people to ask. Several people were astonished that I quit analogs so easily and were definately interested, and a few even picked up disposables to try out.

At least two people said they liked it, and one of my co-workers who's wife smokes was interested in how to get her to try it. I think people need to be at least open to the idea of quitting for vaping to take hold, but that's just IMHO.

A couple of months ago when I went to pick up my dog from the groomer she came outside to smoke. I stopped to talk to her and she said she was going to try an e-cig, she'd bought kits at the mall for her husband and SIL for christmas. Last month I asked her if she'd tried it yet and she said no. Husband, SIL & D had all given up on it. So I asked her if it was one of those little look alikes. Yup!
Asked her if she would like me to bring in something that really worked. She and D both very enthusiastic, so when I go in next week am taking my gear and several different flavors for them to try. Hoping it'll be a hit with them.

Well, got my first full convert today. A woman at work has been talking about trying it, and to help her along, I threw a new menthol carto on one of my Blu Premium100 batts and offered to let her try it. After a little coaching on how to get a nice hit off of it, we went outside and she used it in place of one of her analogs. She smokes menthol, and while she liked the experience, she complained that it didn't taste like her analogs. So I pulled out a new Cherry carto, and asked her to try that. She was reluctant, but agreed to give it a try. Well, to make a long story short, she loved it, and offered to buy my Blu kit on the spot.

Having moved on to an ego-c kit, with a twist on the way, I agreed to sell it to her for a significant discount.

Later, she grabbed me for a smoke vape break, and she confessed that she had an analog in between, and didn't like it much anymore.

Chalk one up for Ctor. :)

I only discuss vaping when approached (I do publicly flaunt my PVs). Da 'crowd' down at my 'office' (local boat ramp hang out) has witnessed me go from 2 PaD to a year of vaping; silently speaking volumes!

Thus far I have eighteen notches on my PV. My v-verts (vaping converts) count on me to keep 'em supplied and up to date on 'new' equipment/jooses. Wouldn't mind losing that aspect... but I'll continue doing so as long as I can. I'd rather see a lazy vaper than an accomplished smoker...

Walkin' da walk'... errr... Vapin' da vape has been quite successful for me and eighteen others!

Only vaped for about three months at this point...but yep, my neighbor is now totally into vaping instead of smoking. And his ex-wife is interested, and a cousin of his has just ordered a PV and some juice, yay.

About two years ago I knew some people who were quitting by using cheap PVs...I wasn't interested enough to commit at the time but they planted the "seed" in my mind and when I got ready I found my way back here and switched. So I am never pushy but am happy to explain what it's about to anyone who asks and hopefully will be planting my own "seeds" for others going forward!

I began using a vaporiser in 2001, and changed to ejuice exclusively on 7/17/2005..at first I was just considered "odd" or "eccentric" perhaps, until the past year or so, when the proliferation of juices, PVs, mods and V V devices have become available to the masses, and not just "odd little old ladies"...at first I was viewed as some sort of "health nut" and I might explain my fascination till I turned blue, and no one would listen...but, in the past year, numerous friends have rung up, wanting more info on my little "hobby"...and recommendations...FINALLY!! A choir to preach to!

My first convert was not too long after I quit tobacco myself. I use 808's, the cigarette "look alike," but it happens to be one that I found after trying four others. I like the 808's for 2 piece instead of 3 piece use, and I chose to stay with the cigarette look alike because I needed to rid myself of 40 years of ritual, not just the smoke. I am still using my preferred 808, and this company now has a mid size battery with 808 threading so I don't have to look for adapters for my big batteries. I use both.

After a month tobacco free, I couldn't see not trying to help others quit, too. However, as said in an earlier post, if the person isn't truly ready to give up tobacco, it won't happen, no matter the device. Anyway, I put together four "loaner" kits for those who wanted to try and quit smoking and were willing to try an electronic cigarette. I used two 808 batteries from my preferred supplier, a usb charger, and three cartos of different flavors - one menthol, a Camel clone, and an RY4 - all in 18 mg, for each kit. I loaned one of the kits to another worker in my building for over the Easter weekend because she and her husband were going to visit relatives that didn't allow smoking at their home. Both she and her husband smoke but want to quit. When they returned, she brought back the kit, only one of the cartos had been used but she said both she and her husband vaped that carto, and they both liked it. I gave her a business card and a coupon code for the supplier, and they are now both happily vaping and not smoking. They plan on quitting vaping eventually as well, but they have stopped tobacco and that is what it is all about. The woman in turn has converted one of her friends, and on it goes. It is the ripple effect and a very beautiful thing.

I don't care what they end up buying, as long as they end up quitting tobacco. The ripple effect will take care of many more. All I'm doing is providing a loaner kit and a little bit of knowledge and I let them choose their own devices if they want to try something other than an 808. In the meantime, the loaner kits are available from my desk drawer, and if they really like the 808 batteries, I'll even sell them the loaner kit at cost to keep them going.

Your story sounds almost exactly like mine, except it's a female coworker and her husband smokes. Now that I've made it a month, (Friday was 4 weeks) and haven't had a real cigarette and really don't have a desire for one, I think more of my coworkers are going to pay attention. I've got ECF cards and business cards for the local vape shop handy for them. :)

Once they hear that I survived a weekend of very heavy drinking (big party every year this time of year) and didn't have a single smoke ... granted I was doing some hard core chain vaping, but it's all good ...

loaner kits!!...what a heck of an idea!!
I bought a few throw away e-cigs that look like a 100's sized cig and are filled with RY4 with nic and thats how I got started and also how I got to one of my converts!!....but I like your idea better as I can change out the RY4 if thats not there thing!
and I can clean and charge it up and on to someone eles that needs saving lol
