Would this possibly revive a dead one?

Absolutely! If you burned the coil wire to the point of seperation then it would be totally dead. I did that to one of these CE3's already. The wire is too small (and I can't see well enough) to always know if the wire has broken. The coiul is also covered in gunk and that makes it hard to see if/where it is broken. Something like that I would put on the multimeter and see what you get.

The one area with these CE3's that concerns me the most is the wick. There is not a very large window on a workable length and width on those wicks. Wicks on those CE3's are definitly more precise than top coils. There's a lot of fudge room on top coils. I may have to bump into the wall a couple/fews times before I get it right on these CE3's.

I'm not seeing how you get it out of this thing.

Yeah, the first time it kinda sucks. One of those things that after you do it a couple/few times it's easy. Get yourself a jewelers screwdriver that will fit in the hole on the bottom (that's your positive post). A larger papar clip would probably work too. Stick it in the hole down about 1/8" and just rock it up the best you can. Might have to get a bit rougher with it than you think. Might be able to get it lifted enough to get under the lip of it and yank it out the rest of the way. Once the post is removed, you'll see a white rubber grommet. Got to yank that out too. Might have to get something narrow between the outer edge of the grommet and the inside of the threads and fold it in a little then grab it with something to pull it out. Afterthat, the wick and insert will come out of the head.
EDIT: Pull the tube and stem off so that you're just working with the head only.

Got it. Neat. One of the wires seems to have a little plastic sleeve on it? (I think that's what it was, I've already dropped it and can't find it again)

Well, once you take apart the head, you will be left with four seperate pieces (not including the wick or wire). Should have the head chassis iteself. Then a metal post/plug (the thingy you stuck the screwdriver in to yankoff), a rubber grommet (that surrounded the metal post), and the plastic insert where the wick laid on. That should be it. The wick and wire get chunked in the garbage can. Sorry for the names I'm using to call these parts. I don't know if they're the right names or not. It's just what I call them.

YES!!! I've zinged more than a few parts flying across the room taking these things apart. I meant to mention that on a previous email but forgot.

EDIT: Tried uploading a pix but it doesn't like it. Don't know why. I've done it before and now it doesn't want to work. Whatever. I think you getthe picture.

Yeah, got all that. Except I'm pretty sure "the plastic insert where the wick laid on" is actually ceramic. :)

Now I just need some wire and wick. :)

Yes, you are probably right on the ceramic. Wick and wire are not as easy. I ended up getting at two different places. Kanthal wire I got at Mountain Oak Vapors. A-1 32 gauge. The wick I got at Carolina Vapes. 1.5 mm fibrewick.

Heh. I make these things last beyond what's reasonable already. Now we're talking about making them last forever? Sorry GotVapes. :p

I think I will trash the tubes on them and that's what will ultimately be their cause of death when they fill out the death certificate. You might want to wait until after I succeed at rebuilding one of those CE3's before you invest your time and money. I haven't seen anyone rebuild one (probably because they're cheap to replace). So who knows what I might run into. My wire is coming probably tomorrow.

I can already make replacement tubes. :)

I'll think I'll wait till you've successfully done one before I buy any of that.

I already rebuild my Nova heads and am about to tear into my Kangers when I get the wire. so it doesn't hurt to try the CE3's since I have all the stuff. It's cheap. The Nova heads are designed to be rebuilt and actually worth doing...especially for someone like me who cleans and dry burns as much as I do. Some day I'll play with SS mesh but not now. I've already tried cotton. Not seeing any great advantage with that but I'm still playing with it.

Tried Gandalf for the first time last week. Consider me sold! I ordered a sample pack of Dark Horse, Dragon's Fire, Huntsman, and Vapin' Chimp. The Vapin' Chimp was good right out of the mail. Really liked it, and all my worst fears about a banana flavored juice were thankfully not realized. Definitely more banana, very light on the tobacco, but I really like it. I can see this being a flavor that I could do once a week or something.

Gandalf was in a sample. First night it really had a strong cocoa taste to me. Thanks to all of your posts here and elsewhere, I let it steep for a week. Wow! Love it. Slight cocoa, a little grassy, just wonderful.

I so regretted only having the 3ml bottle. Just got my 30ml yesterday, and will let it steep before I try anymore (yes, I couldn't help myself and am vaping it right now). It's even different then my sample was at first, so I'm going to just wait before I try it again.

I'll probably wait a few days before I dip into the other tobaccos. I'll let you know what I think of the other 3.

I tried the HT as well, haven't gone back to it since letting it steep. Maybe I'll try it again later.

Off tobacco, I also tried their Bah-In (after a week of steeping, I'm loving this), MJS, apple butter rum cake, and blueberry muffin. So far the only ones I didn't like were the MJS and butter rum cake. I am still steeping the ABRC, so hopefully that mellows out a little. The MJS is not terrible, but I'm getting a burnt popcorn taste that I just can't get used to. The ABRC? There was something about it that just turned me off. Hopefully that can change with steeping. Really, it's the only one I haven't been able to vape (so far), and unlike some other vendors, I'm impressed with the quality.

Consider me sold on HHV. I just got an order yesterday (the sample of tobaccos) and ordered a big bottle of Vapin' Chimp right before I went to bed. I think I may have a problem...
