My version is a derivation of my buddy at work's when I worked as a tin knocker back in the day. His favorite line was he "likes his coffee like his women, black and sweet" (which was true). I took mine with no sugar, and so my version made sense for me.
Tin knocker = Sheet metal technician/ duct man.
