Hey Scarf, Carbon (and the lately departed Bronze, rest his soul [for the night]). I, alas (lol) must depart as well, for my time to hit the sheets has come. How's that for sum lyrical stylinz, CT?
He has been MIA since 1/29. He'd had the flu for over a week. I know he has chrons disease or something so I'm really pretty concerned. Anybody have his email or maybe he shared a fb page?
Army, I am about ready to SCREAM!! I have misplaced a 1.5 week old 30 ml bottle of Heavenly Army! Only drip tested twice. I seriously cannot imagine how it could come up missing. Short of hauling every garbage bag out of my trash dumpster, I have looked everywhere I can think of. Officially listed as AWOL.
On a happier note, my other bottles are present and accounted for. And, I am really liking Fireball.
But just think....we canstealswap juices! And someone will be close to help me with my gear.
And just think, we can all help with stalking the mailman!!!
Did I mention I was the first house inside the gate??I can collect the mail for everyone.

I'd be hanging out at your mailbox.
I keep my vape stuff in a couple of plastic bins, in the kitchen. I had already looked in my spice cupboard, then the cupboard where I keep vitamins. Then, I thought I might have grabbed it along with some bottles of eyedrops and put them in the medicine closet. Looked under the sofa. Dumped my purse out. Checked my jacket pockets. Looked all over the car. Seriously was ready to pull the big trash bin into the garage and go through the garbage.
Good morning, here is my review, as requested by Dusty (but you know you all wanted it)
Chronicles of Riddick
Well I suppose I was playing a dangerous game. Hoping to drown out my memories of "Battleship" with "Chronicles of Riddick".
However, I saw the original movie "Pitch Black" and liked it. I thought Pitch Black was a bit cheesy, and the characters silly, and the effects only passable. But all in all it was a fun watch, the concept was rather novel and there were some pretty strong performances from the actors. While Vin Diesel was just passable, I really liked Keith David, Radha Mitchell, and Cole Hauser's performances.
So with tempered hopes of having a fun movie watch, I plunged into "Chronicles of Riddick". David Twohy was back in the director's chair. While I was losing Radha Mitchell and Cole Hauser, I was hoping the additions of Karl Urban, Judi Dench, and Colm Fiore would offset those losses. The intro was kind of weird. I felt like it was set up almost intentionally to be confusing. I felt the OCD creeping up my spine. Why's? began to pop into my head....
Then the set changes to Helion Prime. I have to say, that is a cool planet name. Simultaneously, Keith David was brought to the forefront of the story, and order was restored. His character of "the Iman" is a truly wonderful character who connects with the audience in a way that draws me into the story. I understand his motivation, he makes the danger compelling because I want him to be okay. Somehow everything felt better. Riddick (Deisel) and he reunite and discuss some old times, build a little tension, and Riddick wastes a few fools who seek to put him in chains. And so the battle lines were defined, the coming Comet to Helion Prime is a harbinger of change/catastrophe. We also meet Judi Dench's character on Helion Prime while everyone is bracing for the invaders, and she is an "air elemental". Where she is from and what they do we don't really know, but she floats around in a way that is kinda cool and says mysterious and lightly zen-ish things. Check. That is an interesting if not particularly deep character. She tells the Iman and Riddick about the invaders...
The people of Helion Prime were the targets of an invading people who have conquered every system they have found. The invaders are a dark mysterious people know as "Necro-Mongers." Now that name is certainly cheesy. They could not do any better than that for their people's moniker? Oh well, I suppose not. And again I am starting to get that heavy, worried feeling about where we are headed...
Well the Necro-Mongers show up and there is a battle. The battle is kinda confusing because while I can tell the Helions and the Necro-Mongers apart when they are in person, their ships are never that well defined. So pilots shoot each other and there are explosions and crashes. It is reasonably pretty and fun to watch, despite the confusion. You do learn something in the battle though. The Necro-Mongers are tough to kill, and they don't mind dying, so while they are not the most skilled opponents, but they are nearly impossible to stop as an army. Sadly, the Iman is killed by a vicious Necro Captain in the confusion of battle. I will miss his character.
The Helions are vanquished and so now the infamous "Lord Marshall" played by Colm Fiore makes his entrance. Colm is introduced with the simple line to his number one counselor of, "Let's go replenish the ranks". Rather ominous, simple and character defining. His soldiers are pawns, he will always get/make more, and he rather enjoys the work. He is accompanied by a field commander "Vaako" played by a stone faced and intense Karl Urban. Vaako's wife Thandie Newton is stunning and delightfully devilish. Her opening line is "I love watching a dynasty fall" or something like that. So the Necro-Mongers give the recruitment speech to the Helions. Basically the Necro-Mongers say "will kill or convert every creature in our path. Join us or die." When a Helion speaks defiantly to the Lord Marshall, the Lord rips the man's soul from him in a very neat special effect.
So thirty minutes into the movie, I have met six characters. Most seem interesting and distinct. I am interested in them all. The plot line has been defined, and while it is simple, it is compelling. Riddick plays the reluctant hero, but in seeking revenge for the Iman, gets sucked into the conflict to stop the Necro-Mongers. The Lord Marshall is a ridiculously powerful and ruthless leader, but he is touched (fatally?) by fear. The other characters around the story are not particularly deep, but are well defined and have a role in the coming conflict.
I really liked this movie. It was silly at times. The burning prison planet was fun but not realistic in the least. But somehow the cheesy-ness is played off pretty well. When describing the burning planet "Crematoria" a bounty hunter says, "If I owned this place and Hell, I would rent this place out, and live in Hell". There is a logic defying race against the rising sun on Crematoria, and it is scientifically challenged. But, by this time we have met "Kyra" (played by Alexa Davalos - she is easy on the eyes and tough as nails) and we WANT her and Riddick to escape Crematoria. My interest/investment in the characters makes the silliness tolerable.
So if you like space movies with very little happening in space, and you can suspend disbelief for some interesting characters, and you don't find Vin Diesel's delivery off-putting, this is a very fun movie. The fight at the end was really entertaining, and the tension of Riddick's question "Are you with me, Kyra" very palpable.
I recommend this somewhat silly yet fun and visually appealing film.
Colm Feore is fabulous as the evil cardinal on "The Borgias".
Glad you liked the flick.
Where's our night crew?! Good morning, Army!
