I believe it's our duty to reach out to all children.... I've always enjoyed being part of any childs life as a parent, friend, sunday school teacher, neighbor. I do believe in the statement it takes a village to raise a child and unfortunately much of our society has lost sight of that. Now if I could have figured out how to get my beautiful grandchildren without all of the trials of raising my kids I'd have been all over it

Was going to try to rebuild a nova head. Computer on the kitchen table with video up, all tools on table with bad head. I figured that first I should try out the multi meter my hubs gave me on a good nova coil. It says 2.4 ohm but when I tried to test it, the meter went from 1 and kept going up (like I was taking the coil's temperature!) I stopped at 3.4.

Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Or is it the multimeter? Did exactly what the video showed. Positive in the bottom hole, negative on the threads.

Some multimeters get the shakes. And the leads are sensitive. You have to hold the leads real steady and let the multimeter wig out for awhile before letting it settle in. The one I am currently using takes a good 20 seconds before it setlles down enough to get an accurate reading. The most important thing is that you get a reading at all Jazzy. If it just sits on '1' then you have a dead coil. If you're getting 3.4 then I think you're safe to try it on your Twist.

Yes, I've seen them. They're handy I'm sure. But if you have a multimeter, that should be plenty good. You'll figure it out Jazzy.

Jazzy, I think you touch the leads together first to get a reading. make note of that. Then put the leads in the proper places on the head. Then subtract that first number from the number you get from the head.

So I am testing how to use a multimeter on a premade coil that I have been using (and yes, I cleaned it first LOL)

Oh. Well the fact that the multimeter moves suggests you have no shorts. try making a coil. Let's go back from our PM discussion. Take three strands of that silica I sent you. Lay them in parallel with a pin (like they use in sewing). The pin keeps you from cinching the wick too tight so juice can flow through the coils. Do 5 - 8 wraps. Don't have to be too neat at this point. Leave the legs about an inch or longer. Now go back and compress the coil wraps until they are neat and pretty (like an unstretched slinky). It's not easy to do at first so have patience. I use a pair of tweezers and try to bracket the tweezer tips around the ends of the wrap and then squeeze together. You'll have to repeat this several times until all the wraps are neat and pretty. Then thread the legs through the head, put your gasket back on (making sure one leg is outside the gasket and one leg is inside the gasket. Put your positive post back in. Trim the legs real close. Twisting and breaking them off works good but short of that use nail clippers and trim them down as close as you can.

Check it on you multimeter. If your getting numbers dialing all over then at least you know you don't have a short. If it wont move off of '1', then your coil failed. Try it again (most people take multiple attempts before they get it right. If you're good, screw a nova base onto your Twist. then screw the head onto the base. Put a drop of juice on top of your coil. Hit the fire button and see if it smokes.

From what I have observed, children fall in the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time they drive you nuts. But the 20% of the time more than makes up for it.

I'll give y'all some perspective as a 53 year old who was never able to have children. Here's what happens...you don't connect with the vast majority of people your age because they all have children and their lives are centered around their kids. School activities, birthday parties, sleepovers, play, etc.. When you go to a neighborhood party, the conversations are always centered around their kids. We are silent. That is, if we're even invited to the party in the first place. When you watch the children hunting for Easter eggs on Easter or opening their gifts on Xmas morning, all it does is to serve to remind you that you have no kids. The house is always clean and quiet reminding you of the same. It's a selfish feeling knowing you are living for yourself...even though it was not by design. There is a person inside wanting to break out and give of themselves with no one to give it to. But the worst is having the fear no one will be holding your hand in your old age when you lay on your death bed.

Something to think about during those times when your kids drive you crazy.

Really Buggs. Touch the leads together? Okay

With any ohm meter it is always a good thing to touch the leads together to make sure the meter is zeroing out. If the meter has any way to adjust to zero do it at that time. Most low priced meters likely won't have that feature. I have a Fluke 73 meter but it is over 25 years old but still works like a charm. If the meter is jumping around or very inconsistent in reading, the battery could be getting weak. Or it is a cheap meter.

I have used multimeters in my automotive work. Reading about a 3.4 ohm resistance makes me think about a fuel injector. Most injectors and solenoids have that value. The imagination can run wild thinking about that implication.

Okay everyone. I have tried. Really really I have (to wrap a coil)

The first one was too wide! The second one was good (5 wraps) and read 1.9 on the meter. Scared to put it on the twist so put it on the KGO. It smoked and then the KGO blinked. (which it likes to do )

But I cannot try again. My thumb on my left hand does not work right. Some kind of awful arthritis that the doctor won't operate on (he said it is the most painful arthritis and also a very painful surgery) and I am allergic to most painkillers. So I now have a very swollen hand and it hurts.

But I did attempt it. Yeah!!! When hubs gets home, I will have him try it. (boy, it is a ***** to get old!)
