I don't discriminate against anyone based on race or religion. *shrug*

I will admit that calling Scientology a religion is a stretch.

I kinda put it in the same category as these actors and musicians who spout their political views and act as if their views are somehow superior simply because they have artistic talent, a microphone in their hands, and a captive audience listening. That drives me nuts! I will boycott those people because they are not respecting my rights. I think the Lion probably targeted it best...if they're not pushing their views on their paying customers then it's fine. Just don't make me support your livelihood AND make me listen to your religious views. As one noted political analyst once said, "Shut up and sing!"

Thanks for making me teary on a Sunday morning, General.

While the focus of the story is on that little fella, it was also not lost on me that it was a good lesson for those young men in football uniforms too. And anyone who watched it. ESPN has been playing this clip frequently.

Never fear! Hula's here with consoling hugs and assurances!

So now you're gonna drive me batty with BBQ envy, too, RJ?! Our grill broke down around three months ago. This is cruel and unusual:laugh:!! Bridget, you broke my heart a bit leaving out Huntsman from your order:ohmy:, but you'll LOVE what you got, and my wounds will heal. Hula will be here for the Huntsman snub sympathy, I just know.

That's a good question Scarf because as I was originally answering it, I realized that that particular outfit might enter my "sure, why not - provided they're not being energetic in their propaganda in any form in the restaurant (ie servers/wall décor/brainwashing drivel coming out of the speakers and so on". However, if we were to expand the question to "but what if they were represented even more radical persuasions" then my answer would depend on what/which one might be speaking of.

I suppose at the end of the day you have to measure the weight of your individual reaction to support a specific concern, or not. For example, I choose to not purchase anything from R. Lauren because of the company's constant use of, and clamor for, public attention based on how stringy and sick their female models are - or appear to be. I personally can't condone that. Sheesh - I could go on and on for pages because the question becomes bigger and bigger the more angles one looks at it!

In conclusion then I'd say each person has their individual limitations and to go with what makes you comfortable. Thank goodness we're "only" talking pancakes, because from a bigger perspective, there's so many "but what if's" my reply would be about a million pages long and still not really come up with a single conclusion. lol

So, philosophical question for the Army...

There's a restaurant in town that Mr Scarf and I like. It's overpriced but they serve probably the best pancakes around, including my favorite breakfast which is a cheese and potato pancake.

If you found out that this restaurant was owned by people whose beliefs and practices were contrary to your own, would you continue to go or not?

But then I thought to myself, "Wait" If they were not of that particular persuasion, but were e.g. of the excommunicated Mormon settlements, I really could not support them in any way". And yet - then again, I'd feel so sorry for the women and children, would I walk past a produce/fresh baked good stand being attended by the women and children. Then again, I'd also know the leaders of such settlements are using precisely that psychology to make me feel sympathetic - i.e. if men were selling the goods I KNOW I'd ignore it, but women and children....?

So for me it's a very good question. I suppose at the end of the day you have to measure the weight of your individual reaction to support a specific business, or not. I love it. The "pancake dilemma" dominates discussion for the day on the Big Thread! And a lively discussion it is!

At least it is a discussion and not a rant. ;)

Ah, close enough to say Good evening everyone! Hope you had a splendiferous weekend. (thank god for spell check)

It's been an awesome day. Awesome weekend really. Did yard work, drank beer, watched kid play. It don't get better (unless there were HHVites in cheerleader outfits prancing about).

 You too? Just close your eyes and imagine....it would probably be better than the reality anyway. ;)

Yes it has been a great day. Pancakes this morning, BBQ pork chops at Mom's, count them TWO naps, Yahtzee game and I'm kicking son's ...., ordered a *winky winky ooo lala* gift for my BFF's 40th birthday, helped her plan her party in which a group of her closest friends are renting a hotel room and safely partying for a night, NO YARDWORK (I punted for another day), laundry, and the day is still young. :)

I really need to make some coils and organize my vaping gear...it's all over the place.

:vapor:

Thanks for all the opinions. I will continue to go there occasionally because of the pancakes and suffer the abundance of Tom Cruise and John Travolta movie posters ;)

But if anyone asks, it is the price that is REALLY keeping me away.

Well-aged Dark Horse with coffee this morning.

On the subject of pancakes, I need lots of syrup on mine, preferably real maple syrup. Butter is good too. The pancakes should gurgle when I cut into them :)

I'm not generally a fruit pancake person, although if you happen to have some canned apricots around they are surprisingly yummy.

The Xenu-cake I want to make is a savory pancake. Potato batter flavored with a molecule of green onion, with a crunchy/melted crust of cheese on it. I think I can figure out how to make it but I will need new cookware  The non-stick coating on my big frying pan is not up to the job.

Scarf, do you pour syrup in between the pancakes also, and not just on top of the stack? That's the way I like it.

I don't eat pancakes very often (because they would spoil my girlish figure :D ), but I do love them. And when I do have them, I want LOTS of syrup.

Happy Sunday!

Dad's not feeling well, so it's been a day of taking care of him. He gave me his laundry to so (and said it wasn't necessary for me to iron his shirts, what a guy!). Went to our farmers market, made a delicious lunch: turkey bacon BLT on whole grain bread, roasted beets on baby spinach with feta cheese salad.

Vaping freely and quite content. Mixed Shadowfax with my other favorite, Bandersnatch and enjoying it very much.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365377275.927161.jpg

That's my lunch, it was so pretty I had to share :)
