Exciting news today.. I just got a job offer for an office much closer to home! I meet with the Dr. on Friday to discuss it. I'm scared! Have been commuting for 10 years, 80-90 miles round trip. I can't even imagine only being 15 minutes from home. My boss/dr won't be happy (if I take it) but hopefully he'll understand.

Congrats Bridget! Good luck :)

@73 -
1. Ouch!
2. Thank you. Planning a trip to the big city to download Xubuntu. Lubuntu would be fine but Xubuntu sounds cooler. :)

I know this is totally selfish but I'm really glad neither myself or any of you nice folks were hit by a tornado.
Those poor people. Did you see the lady that thought she lost her dog along with her house, then it came out of some rubble right next to her? Tears of joy.

Congrats Bridge. Take care of yourself first. Your boss will figure it out.

Thanks for that. He's been taking care of himself first for a long time. How does that saying go? "gotta look out for #1, if you don't no one else will.."New personal motto. Thank you!

Bridget I spent too many years worrying about the company I worked for instead of myself...what a mistake...I wish you the best of luck as you would be so happy to gain more than 2 hours to youself every day...not to mention the wear and tear on your vehicle. Good Luck...

Brilliant! Weather's not too bad though a bit skittish with the rain. I'm so glad they're having a wonderful time!

Hula with everything going on lately I forgot to mention to you that my son, dil and grandchildren are in Hawaii this week..they are staying at Maui. I'm already seeing some very cute pictures and they are having a great time.

You're both nuts! You ain't right.

At least Bivie's right...

Me either but I gave up doubting people's reviews a long time ago. I don't care for any of the Ahlusion flavors (I tried 12 of them) and there are people who think I'm nuts.

Devil Dog, Devil Dog, Devil Dog.. you're nuts!

Maybe I like it just because we have the same initials. :D

EXCELLENT! Heck you may even have some take-home pay at the end of the week now you don't have to pay for gas/transportation charges!

It's around $4.50 here. While you don't have much opportunity to drive miles and miles on Oahu, you do get a lot of stop n starts that eats into your gallons. (And having a Jeep here isn't the smartest thing really with its 8-10 miles to the gallon Duh).

No joke! Gas here is about $4/gal. I don't even want to think about what you pay Hula!

:offtopic: Been getting back into my reading...something I haven't done a lot of in a few years, which is a few years too long. I was always an avid reader. And Stephen King is my favorite. I have 75 of his books, my only collection worth speaking of really. I've been in his book club for decades and get his books very cheap. Bivie, his new stuff is more akin to his older stuff. Not that crazy stage of writing he got lost in that you said you didn't like that much. And I fully agree with your assessment. But I'm really enjoying his latest books. Reading calms me down. And with my new work hours and summer bringing on less responsibility as far as less to do with my son and school and whatnot, I have more time. Just finished up a short story. He's weird but I like weird.

Just read an article that said Alabama leads the way with the most violent tornadoes since 2007. Scary stuff.

I think I'll shower and read some more. I like getting lost in a good book!

Hats off to the people of Oklahoma who pull up their boot straps and help each other. Contrast that to the people of Katrina who sat on their asses and complained no one was helping them despite having a week of being warned to get the hell out. Want to experience salt of the Earth? Look no further than Oklahoma.

Amen. salt of the earth is right. Good, honest, hard working people who will do anything for a friend, neighbor or even a stranger.

Even though I was born and raised in Oklahoma, let me also give a shout out to the people of Joplin, Missouri. I was up there a week or so after their big tornado. The devastation was mind boggling. People couldn't even find the rubble of their own homes because all street signs and other landmarks had been wiped off the face of the earth. (Imagine trying to find your house among the rubble of other homes when all buildings, trees and landmarks were completely gone.)

But despite all that, they asked for no help or assistance. They simply rolled up their sleeves and went about the business of rebuilding their city. And none of the local businesses raised prices despite shortages of building materials and other necessities. My hat is off to Joplin, Missouri.

That is So Cool, Bridget, ought to save ya a lot of time and money and hopefully, better pay! :toast:

Not to take away from your glory, but I also received a letter to go in for an interview for a new position at a nearby Uni. I know what you mean about having butterflies in the stomach.
