Hats off to the people of Oklahoma who pull up their boot straps and help each other. Contrast that to the people of Katrina who sat on their asses and complained no one was helping them despite having a week of being warned to get the hell out. Want to experience
salt of the Earth? Look no further than Oklahoma.
Amen.
salt of the earth is right. Good, honest, hard working people who will do anything for a friend, neighbor or even a stranger.
Even though I was born and raised in Oklahoma, let me also give a shout out to the people of Joplin, Missouri. I was up there a week or so after their big tornado. The devastation was mind boggling. People couldn't even find the rubble of their own homes because all street signs and other landmarks had been wiped off the face of the earth. (Imagine trying to find your house among the rubble of other homes when all buildings, trees and landmarks were completely gone.)
But despite all that, they asked for no help or assistance. They simply rolled up their sleeves and went about the business of rebuilding their city. And none of the local businesses raised prices despite shortages of building materials and other necessities. My hat is off to Joplin, Missouri.
