Hey all, I stumbled upon this forum and I have to say there is a lot of great information on here I just can’t seem to weed though it all to find the best option for me. I am extremely overwhelmed  and want to make the best decision possible before I purchase a new setup. I am a 1.5 pack a day smoker and I have decided it's time to switch to e-cigs. About six months ago I ordered an e-cig from GreenSmoke and let me just say one word, TERRIBLE. It worked for me for about 3 days and I didn't smoke an analogue during that time but then the batteries died and it's now been sitting on a shelf collecting dust. I don't want to make the mistake of buying a junk e-cig again because I want to be done with analogues forever, not just for three days. I know there is something out there that will work for me I just need to be pointed in the right direction. I have a few questions and any help would be very much appreciated.

What brand of e-cig is known for the longest battery life? I would prefer one that would allow me to buy different juices to try and not have to buy cartridges all the time like I would have had to with the GreeSmoke as this would save me a ton of money I'm sure. I don’t mind if I have to do a bunch of prep to get this to happen as my main goal is to save money in the end. I know from using the GreenSmoke to stay away from e-cigs that try to mimic the look and feel of an analogue so I have no problem with that. Also, are there any current deals on starter kits for an e-cig like this? My girlfriend is a smoker also and I plan to get her the same setup so a package deal would be great. I just don't want to go ahead and purchase the first e-cig I see like I did with the GreenSmoke because I want to be done with analogues for good.

I thank you all in advance for any help you could give me, I see there are many helpful people on here and I look forward to hearing some suggestions.

Thanks again!!

You will get the best performance if you get something bigger than a "fake ciggie", like an ego-type battery. They last a day or more typically on a single charge. I generally buy genuine Joye ego's, because I have had very good luck with them lasting a long time (6 to 18 months) and I like the durability. But there are other brands that are a little less expensive. A lot of people mention Kgo and Epower.

First let me say hi welcome to ecf. Now for the fun stuff. Since you are OK with it not looking like a cig that throws those away(battery life is crap) now the next category is the ego style kits which use a battery about the size of a sharpie. These have good battery life, you can get a decent kit of these for around $40 or so. Then the catugory after that is the mods...these can range from price look and finish and can get overwhelming when asking for all of the options available. Either wrought will get you good battery life and the ability to use your own juice that you want and what not.

The "sharpie" or eGo category is really the better beginner category than any mini like the greensmoke. But I would NOT get the ego, when for the same price/size/category you can get better batteries with the E-Power, Kgo or EVO. The first two are true 3.7 volt models with 1000+ mAh batteries, thus you will get warmer vapor and longer battery life than the ego. The ego is only 3.4 volts and the standard battery is only 650 mAh. (you have to pay extra for the larger battery with an ego, that comes standard with the E-Power or Kgo) The Evo allows you to vape at 3.7 volts, 4.5 volts and 5.0 volts. The higher the volts, the warmer the vapor, the more like the real thing. Here are some well supported suppliers:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - EGO E-Power

KGO Mega Dual Coil Kit 1100mah

EVO V2 Kit

Good Luck

I would recommend and Ego setup like tinajfreeman and djwyman did. I would also recommend using cartomizers over atomizers especially starting out. Boge cartomizers is what I use and love, they work great and provide a nice consistent vape, and would suggest getting them in low resistance (LR) or 2.0 ohms.

+1 on the boge LR cartos.

I just got a whole bunch in today:D

Ive just started vapeing myself. Ive been analog free for 2 days now. I was a pack a day plus smoker. I bought the V2 and really like it and only using 12mg carts. Im still on the first charge and 2nd cart. Ive even tried to smoke a analog and couldnt stand the taste, put it out after 1 drag. I think the cig look alikes work fine as long as you keep them charged up. Mine is on the charger now as i write this, so second charge now. One thing i learned from racing R/C cars is, you dont let a lipo battery go all the way dead, once you do there toast....... I just ordered a spare manual battery just so i can get the quicker hit.... Anyways good luck on what you decide

Hi and welcome to ECF. I agree with wv2win as he has given you some excellent choices.
Remember re: battery 100 mah= 1 hour vaping before needing to be recharged.
I would definitely get a PV that fires at minimum 3.7 V.
Also a good idea to get manual batteries rather than automatic because:
- less chance of damage to batteries from juice
- manual can be locked to prevent accidental firing in purse, pocket, etc.
- puts the vaper in complete control of the experience; if you want more vape you just hold the button down longer. With autos this cannot be done.
Many of my friends own the Kgo and are very happy with it. The only addition they made was buying a tank but first get your feet wet with vaping.
here's a Master Coupon Code/ Discount thread:

One last point...before you finalize the order post the items here you intend to purchase. If you forget some items not only the hassle of extra delivery charge but worse yet the wait.

Good Luck.

Hi and Welcome to ECF! Someone mentioned the E-Power, then followed up with a link for the EGO E-Power 18650. I don't doubt this is a good PV with much to recommend it, but it's a fairly new addition to the line. It's also considerably larger than the "eGo-type" PVs being generally discussed, having a larger (& longer-running) battery. I personally use the E-Power 14650 which is slightly larger around than an eGo (or a Sharpie) and have been very happy with it for over 6 months now. It takes non-proprietary (that is, replaceable), protected 14650 batteries rated at 1050mAh and runs at a regulated 3.7 volts. Both models, as well as the KGO*, are available here: E-Power

*If you're interested in the KGO they are also available here: SLB KGO Starter Kit I believe this site has a better price. Whichever way you go I'd strongly suggest going with low resistance (1.7 - 2.0 Ohm) cartomizers instead of an atomizer / cartridge type setup. Cartomizers are pretty hassle free and inexpensive, IMO just an easier place to start. I would however suggest getting a dripping atomizer and drip tip just for trying out different flavors. This saves both time & money, as they can be easily cleaned so you don't have foul up a new carto just to learn you can't stand a particular flavor.

Best of luck, & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

Welcome to the most resourceful e-cig forum around. I don't know what I would have done without all the great advice here. I second the suggestions for getting the Ego, Kgo, or Evo batteries for use with the Boge 2.0 ohm Low Resistance (LR) cartomizers. I would further suggest, though, to get at least two of whichever battery you decide on. A lot of vendors sell the kits that come with two complete set-ups. I had purchased mine from Vicki over at cignots . You can pick your colors, as well as battery size. I went with the passthrough, which enables you to use it while it charges. She's super fast in shipping, too.

I started with Greensmoke, too, then quickly moved to the above suggestion and have been so happy. Did your greensmoke batteries die for good, even after recharging them? Just asking because mine are still working. They do take quite a while to charge, though. If the light is not green, then they're not charged adequately.

Also, take a look around youtube for reviews on Ego, Kgo, E-power; Boge LR cartomizers, etc. That helped me, as well, to make my decision.

You have allready got a lot of excellent advise.....so I just want to say helllo:)
And having had a rough start myself, with the same type e-cig you have....I can safely say, that you are going to be very happy with an ego type starter-kit.
I like to fit my ego-T 1100mAh batteries with the dual coil low resistance tank type cartomizer from smoktech, it is very easy to fill , and i holds up to 5ml. Enough to keep you vaping all day

Best Wishes.

Warren made a great suggestion. I started with a MEGA EGO-W (it's also a 3.7v ego clone) from ecigsunlimited. I did pay a little more, but I chose this model because it came with clearomizers instead of cartomizers (no polyfil material inside to burn). I did made the mistake of not ordering extra clearos at the time. (I could have maximized my shipping cost by ordering it all at once.) Buy a sampler pack of juice from a couple of vendors so you have a variety of flavors to try.

p.s. I'm still vaping the original clearos 3 months later w/o a problem.

Some great points. I would agree with using the larger ecigs.
The issue is that when we give up analogues, we want something the same size, which looks similar as we feel it will give us a closer experience than whay we expect. I did the same but they are fiddly and need charging too often, you are constantly filling up with juice and the cartos burn out too quickly. The fact is that the batteries can only be charged so many times.
By going for a larger system ego/echo etc, (which we generally do when we have a chance to experience vaping) the batteries last for the whole day as does the larger capacity liquid cartos. In addition, the larger capacity batteries (900mah and above) provide more vapour and so more relistically mimic the smoking experience.
There is definitely a bonus in that the lower cost means you can buy a cheaper system initially to see if you can on with vaping and then you can splash out on a proper system that is easy to find parts for from many websites to get the best price.
Vaping has changed my life and it is our responsibility to help others see the light.
