Ok, If the 801 works, that means there's power going through. Thats a good start w/out a meter. Now, for the 901 not making contact, there could be liquid trapped in there and if it's e-liquid, it's not going to evaporate on it's own in a small amount of time.
Lets break out our tools of choices.
2A Dismantle adapter, sounds mean but really it's just 3 single pieces
2B Send it back for replacement or repair.
2A With adapter in hand and a soft tool such as this fairly thick plastic tipped syringe. You can literally push out the center pin by photo displayed below.
Once out there is one piece, the plastic insert. This will need to come out as well.
Once items are out, you are allowed to use any type of brass cleaner or just plain water to give a nice rinse and dry.
2B Skip the rest and just send it back for inspection and then I can either return the adapter in perfect working condition or if it fails, I'll be more than happy to send you a brand new replacement. o wish I had more options for you, but these are the only ones that can offer a solution and satisfaction.
