I just received my Penelope yesterday and I am a little dissapointed. I don't think I just hyped it up too much. At least I hope I didn't. First, I probably wasted 5mls of juice because I can't figure out how to not make it leak when putting on the top cap. And the most important thing, I can't get it to taste very good. Maybe a little mettalic, I'm not sure. It just tastes funny. To let you know what I am comparing it to, I have been using a ZAP with silica wick because for the life of me I can't figure out SS mesh. And it has been great. I am hoping that you guys can help me out. I made a double wick that turned out to be 2.7 ohms and I am vaping at 5.6 volts on Provari. Thanks in advance.

Hey neg, don't be discouraged, your Penelope can perform flawlessly if you do everything properly. Let's first address the coil: 2.7 ohms is a bit high, even at 5.6V. In my experience, Penelope will perform best at 1.5 to 2.0 ohms. Some people go even lower. Try rebuilding a coil at 1.5 ohms. The metallic taste is from your resistance wire. The first few draws will have that taste, you can pretreat your wire by getting it red hot before wrapping it around the wick (by the way, what type of wick are you using?) As far as leaking/flooding goes, make sure that every piece of the rebuildable part is tight and that the ceramic and o-rings are not damaged. Once you have the rebuildable part built with a wet wick, attach the mouthpiece until fully seated. Tank goes on, fill with juice (not all the way) and then slowly attach the cap. Keep practicing and you will get what the hype is all about. You can PM me if you need more help, and of course our fellow GG family will be here to offer assistance as well.

Thanks Lex0r. I am using the wick that came with it. I bough it on the classies. It might be the stock wick from COV. I have some 3.5mm silica coming my way along with 3.25mm unprimed, unbleached cotton candle wick.

My pleasure. Let me know if you need anything else. I would also suggest experimenting with different wicks such as cotton, cheesecloth, etc. let us know how your next rebuild turns out!

Well, I just made another coil. It turned out 1.9ohms. It seems to be a little better. I guess I just need to practice. I am still waiting on my cotton wick so I will just keep trying what I have. Thanks for all the suggestions. Oh, I still got a couple drops of leak by out of the 510 tip. I think its just the pressure build up from putting on the cap, right?

negrete35 - A couple of drops is ok, it could be from putting the cap on to fast or if it is after you have vaped it awhile it could be from condensation. One thing Lex0r did not mention, and he/she was very through, is to make sure your o-rings are lubricated, I use a little bit of Vaseline on mine.

Hope this helps

Again, I want to thank everyone for the help and suggestions. Just my second coil, and it is much better. I am not sure if it is as flavorful as the ZAP with silica, but I do like the contrast between the two, ZAP is cool and Penny is nice and warm and I am sure that I just need plenty of practice and fine tuning with Penny to realize her potential. I cant wait to get ahold of some more boba's. I think I would like that warmer than I do cool. I also cant wait to get my second piece of GG awesomeness, the stealth I have on pre-order. Then I can try dual coils. All I have is a Provari mini as far as mods go. Thanks again to all and I hope that I keep getting more tips from all of you.

What o-ring are you using at the base of the ceramic housing?

i take a piece of teflon tape which rolled on itself becomes a real oring the size that you want.
with penelope and odysseus i put under the ceramic housing so that the two channels, ceramic and metal, remain closed.
personally i have found enormous benefits, the vape is less airy and more dense and there is no longer any loss of eLiquid from below.
if in doubt, i can send you a picture.

Nice...I use Teflon tape every day at work so I have spool upon spool of this stuff. So the Teflon tape replaces the hard gasket? Any chance of seeing a picture of it on the actual piece?

Why do you put teflon there Kin?

with the teflon rolled on itself can realize o-ring tailored, in this configuration i put a small piece in the lower part of the metal channel with the advantage of holding the nr wire in contact to the negative pole and prevent the liquid to drip under.
always a ring of teflon that revolves around the ceramic housing also closes the ceramic channel and everything is sealed.
i don't use the o-ring supplied for the center pin because insert in the base is too much tight and the vape becomes too hard, and - in my case - did not prevent eliquid leaking.
i think that the advantage of teflon, besides allowing the sealing at strategic points, both due to its softness to the possibility of taking any shape to fill the space in which it is inserted. allows me to set up the base of each assembly sealed to perfection. the vape result very very thick and the connector is always clean.
