So I found this site looking for info on ecigs obviously. Tired of failing at quitting smoking and ....y blu cigs. So decided to try upgrading from the blu to one of the big fancy ones but have no idea where to start looking, which ones are top of the line, middle of the road, etc. Just trying to get an idea of whats out there before I go to the local shop and get oversold.

Hi Ryan, and welcome to ECF. So much of vaping is a personal opinion about what is best. If you poke around and read the forums, you'll get some good ideas, but really, at least for me, going to the shop was most helpful. I just told them my situation (completely ignorant to anything vape related) and I walked out with a eGo CTwist and a Kanger T3S and they even tried to talk me out of the extra bottles of e liquid because they weren't "free" with the kit. I know this isn't everyone's personal experience, but for me it happened to work out. I like my set up, by the way, although I wish I had gotten a better battery right away. 650 mah isn't cutting it for this chain vaper.
Good luck!

I tried to quit smoking with some over-marketed plastic sticks. They didn't work. 15 cigs a day and these weren't even close to keeping my nicotine habit in check.

however, my wallet was nicely emptied with stories of one over-priced cartomizer being "equivalent" to 30 or 40 or even more!

Then, I bought a double battery K-go (Riva) kit and some 18mg liquid. 2 weeks later, it was all over.

Since then, I have been dropping my nicotine. 18-12-6... going well. :)

Welcome rynmgdlno to ECF. Once you find the right setup it will be the "wow" factor for you to quit. There are some nice affordable setups that helps one overcome cigarettes....

Egos, Evods and a good tank like the Mini Aspire Nautilus ( with BVC coil ) are good starters. Plus getting a good e-liquid that you enjoy.

Good Luck to You!!!

I'll try and help you out with a few of the more popular units . If you don't understand a word I'm using please Google it and it will bring up a picture of the device. Most beginners start out with a ego type unit, then a variable voltage ego type like vision spinner. After a bit most move up to a variable volt and wattage device like a mvp2. These are all great for beginners. If you like box mods you can move up from the mvp2 to something like a dna30, then to something like I use, the ipv2 50 watt box mod which has some of the newest chip technology. If your looking for a good solid beginners device, I recommend the mvp2. It won't disapoint.variable voltage and wattage is best because you can customize your vaping expirence to how you like it. With different flavors of juices you can adjust the wattage to give you the best flavor. Now their are top of the line devices which can cost over 200 dollars but in my opinion it's not necessary to start out with. I've never been much on getting something just for the name. I look at performance and capibility over high end name brands.so starting out, Google the mvp2 and see what you think. It's really a great choice for a beginner. If you are looking for more of a ego type device look at and Google vision spinner2. If you want a more advanced device with newer technology look up ipv2 50 watt. Now everyone will have different opinions on this and this is my opinion. But I own all these devices and they are good solid devices that won't disapoint. Like I said I don't go for just a name, im looking at performance and capibility and for a beginner you can't loose with the mvp2. It's around 60 dollars . The ego type vision spinner is around 50 dollars. The more advanced ipv2 50 is around 110. Dollars. But like I said to start out, the mvp2 kit is great!!

Welcome! I too am a newbie (only vaping for a month) so my suggestions are only from my limited experience. I was a 2 pack a day smoker, tried Blu then went straight to an eGo and refillable tank. After about a week I ordered 2 Kanger EVOD VV batteries, 1- 650mA and 1- 1100mA along with the chargers and a kanger Aero Tank Mini. I can control voltage and airflow and it is super easy to use and pretty middle of the road stuff, but not expensive. For me the biggest thing has been the juice. Flavor is soooo personal, but I've found that spending the extra money on what I consider "The Good Stuff" has made all the difference. I don't have deep pockets, but ease of use, long battery life and liquid deliciousness has kept me from even looking at a cigarette. Make sure you have at least 2 batteries - one to use while the other is charging. I hope this helps.

I'm pretty much a newbie too and I wish I would have just started with the MVP2, it's great, long battery life and easy to use. I have a vision spinner as my back up now. For tanks there's a variety and what works for someone may not work for others. Kanger aerotank and protanks are good. Right now my favorite tanks are the kanger evod glass and mini protank 3. I prefer the dual coils, but others do not. I also have an aspire vivi nova that I vaping on as well.

So I'm officially 3 days with no cigarettes and loving the vape I got so far. Ended up with a kecig k100+ and a IGO-W to replace the included carto-whatever. The guy at the shop set it up for me and I loved how it hit and it's kind of cool how its somewhat modular/customizable/etc. Using 6mg nicotine juice since it hits so hard, on the way to nicotine free! Thanks again for all the replies, great forum here.
