How many puffs do I need to take on the vapor to equal 1 cigarette. And then how many times a day should u use the vapor if I'm going to quit it all together. Can someone please help me I am in some really bad need of help.

I use to smoke a pack to a pack and a half and now I have cut down alot to maybe 6-8 cigarettes a day and I am on my last pack of cigarettes and it only have 6 in it and after that it's all vapor or walk away. I have to do something because I have lymphoma cancer.
Congrats on trying to quit the stinkies but Sorry to hear about your health troubles. What brand or vape device are you using? Pen style? Disposable? Refillable?
I remember when I was still using the stinks I was using Camel silvers each stick came out to 7mg of nic, so I started out my vape liquid with 6-8mgs.
The more information the better to answers we can give.[emoji2]

Welcome, @Cammie chappell! Hope you get the vape working for you and it helps improve your health.

The best I have for you with the limited information is try not to mimic smoking with your vaping. When you feel you would like, want, or need a smoke, take a few hits on your vape until that desire subsides. How many hits will depend on you, your gear, and your juice/nic level. If you feel you are needing too many hits to ease the smoking urge, you might up your nic strength a bit. But 6mg nic could be about right or too low, depending on your gear. Sounds like you have already cut down the smokes considerably, so have a good start.

Good luck and stick with it.....you can do it! :vapor:

you might want to consider a higher nic juice for those times when the 6mg isnt cutting it... when I get the urge for a ciggie, I will place a small drop of juice on my fingertip and lick it up and let it "soak" in for a few moments ( feel the tingle, a peppery burn like sensation). be careful not to do a big drop... it will give you "niccups" ( nicotine induced hiccups)

Hi Cammie
I just finished writing the following reply to someone else;

What worked for me was to not deny myself a cig but rather allow myself to have one but only after I vaped a bit. The vape was 18mg nic which was harsh and made me cough but what it did good for me was turn me off having that cig. The vaping took me to a point of a having a pain start in my head, like the start of a headache, which not only tells me I've had enough nic but makes the thought of smoking a cig very unappealing. Kinda of like chain smoking 3 cigs in a row. After being off cigs a couple of weeks I cut the nic down in my vape juice.

While their question was a bit different than yours the point I'm trying to make with you is that you simply vape until you don't feel like vaping any more, put the vape down and pick it back up when you do. There is no point in trying to estimate how much to vape based on how you smoked since they are not the same and the variables impacting both nic absorption and satisfying the smoking cravings (the non-nic part of the addiction) are also different. In other words simply use the vape in whatever way best suits you, and your tastes, and your natural nic levels. The latter which your body will let you know when it has had enough nic.

Good luck with quitting and good luck with your health problems.

I am wanting to quit for my self and my family but I don't think I have the will power to do so.

NO! You Do Have The Will Power. And you CAN Quit Smoking.

Go into the Bathroom, look in the Mirror, and in a Loud Voice say... "I Can Do it. I'm Going to Beat this!"

When I quit, I used 2 set-ups. One Atomizer had my Day to Day e-Liquid in it. And the other had an e-Liquid that was at a Higher mg/ml level.

When the Cravings would Hit, and I felt like I was going to Cave In, I would switch to the Higher Nicotine Level. Sometimes it only took a Hit or Two for the Craving to pass. Sometimes it would take 5 Minutes. But the Craving would pass. And I would then Switch back to my Lower Nicotine Level.

You Need 2 Complete e-Cigarette Set-Ups anyway. Because if something happens to you e-Cigarette and it Doesn't Work, you Have To Have A Backup. So you might as well Load Up your 2nd e-Cigarette with some Higher Nicotine for when things seem dark.

Drink a Lot of Water. Get a little More Exercise than you Normally do like talking a short Walk at Lunch or after Dinner. Chew Gum. Have Snacks handy. And get rid of things that went with Smoking like Ashtrays or Matches/Lighters.

You can Make it. And it might be Rough at Times. But you Can Make It.

I'm sorry you are having health issues. Vaping and smoking look a lot alike but they are not the same, so it's not necessarily about recreating the smoking experience but finding the vaping experience that is, for many/most, superior to the smoking experience. Finding a setup and liquid you like is a learning experience, and when you've found that it may become much easier to reach for the vape over the smokes. Smoking is definitely easier, a monkey can do it, light a paper tube. Vaping takes a little more research and the gaining of knowledge but once you get the basics down it starts to come pretty easily. Lots of info and helpful people here and you can ask anything, most people on here just want to help you succeed. Number one, have more than one setup. Backups are important in case something happens to a setup and also gives you the opportunity to have different nicotine strengths or vaping styles that match the moment you are in. Good luck, and don't give up! Any trouble with equipment or liquids that you are having is changeable and fixable.

Simple answer is: as many puffs as you need to get rid of the craving. There is no set number of puffs or anything like this.

Note:
switching will cause other secondary effects and withdrawals from the other toxins from the cigarettes, this is normal for many, and will go away after a little while (between a week to a month for most).

If you are worried to vape due to the propaganda, please see my blog as I have information that might help you.

And if 6mg doesn't seem to cut your craving down as much you'd like, try and get a bit higher, depending on what is available, (8-9-12mg or even higher), but be aware that the more nicotine, the harsher it will be. But if you were to get a 12mg and found it too harsh, you can mix some with your 6mg (in equal parts) and have a 9mg. (if I did my math right :p)

Be aware that too much nicotine can make you feel a bit sick, so it is a question of figuring out what is the level that will work for you.

Good luck with your cancer, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

I started with 18mg as I was like you and smoked about a pack a day. As fallen angel said, there is really no equation to figure out how much is enough and when you are weaning off cigs, vape as much as you want, I know i did. Basically dont feel guilty if you overdue it in the beginning, as your body will tell you when you have had enough. Now I vape 3mg on devices at home and 6mg on the road, as my devices at home can deliver enough nicotine to my brain as it all depends on builds, watts, ect. Keep up on trying to quit, you can do it, just might be frustrating at first but dont give up!

Welcome and glad you joined.
The following was obtained a few years ago and intended for non sub-ohm vapers:
06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes
If you are using a sub ohm device (.3 or .75 coils), 06mg would be in the pack and half area.
Frequency - Vape as much as you desire and as often as you desire.
To quit the tobacco "nicotine" habit - Just cut down on the nic strength. How and when? Everyone is a little different. After 1-3 months on 18 mg., I obtained my favorite juice in 9 mg. and tried that. If I wanted more nic, I would mix in more 18 mg, and pretty soon I was vaping straight 9mg.. Did this 9 mg to 3 mg to 1.5 mg to zero nic. There is no time table. Still have to have a smoke. go ahead, pretty soon I'm betting you will be vaping only. Don't make it hard on yourself, vaping will make you quit naturally. Go with the flow.

As others have said, there is no set nicotine mg that you should be vaping, based on the number of smokes you're used to having. Vaping equipment you use, your method of inhaling (or not) while vaping, and other things can/do influence what will work for you personally.

I smoked 1 - 1 1/2 PAD for 42+ years before switching to vaping. If I'd followed what most recommended based on my smoking history, I'd have started at 18mg nic in my eliquids, or higher. But, I started with only (2) little 10mL bottles of 11mg eliquids and (2) 10mL bottles of 6mg eliquids. I never even finished the 11mg ones, because I found that the 6mg level was working fine for me. I weaned myself off the smokes gradually (while vaping more each day in place of smoking) over a period of almost 2 months. I've been smoke free and happily vaping ever since then!

So, IMO, finding what works for you, as far as nic level and eliquids that you like, and having at least 1 backup set-up...will get you headed in the right direction to totally quitting the smokes. We've all been where you are now and know what you're going through with switching to vaping. You CAN do it, and we're here to help you, encourage you, and celebrate with you as you go along on your journey to being smoke free, too!
