Let's rip the bandaid off: I don't have vaper's tongue as I can taste the liquid in my old tank, and I can taste other liquids.

Hello! I started vaping in January. I have a VooPoo Drag S and a Drag X that I currently rotate, and a Vaporesso GTX One that I don't really use since I didn't like Salt Nic.

I love my Drags due to their compact style, and they look presentable for public situations. However, I do not like the PNP tanks. They're plastic, there's no removable driptip, and they're bottom fill. Worst of all, the coils only last for about one 4.5ml tank, no matter what juice I'm using.

So this led me to buying different tanks. First, I bought the ReeWape adapter for both of my mods so I can have 510 adaptions.

First I bought the Zenith Pro with 0.8ohm coils, since that is my preferred MTL resistance. I got it in the mail, I washed it, primed the coil, filled up the huge tank, and 10 or so puffs later and there is still no flavour. There never was. It's like air, or cotton. There's vapour, but no taste.

Disappointed, I wrote it off as an expensive loss and decided to get a DTL tank since I do enjoy that as well, though more of a RDL. So I chose the Smok Baby Beast (V1) with the Q2 0.6ohm coils. I got it in the mail, I washed it, I primed the coil, filled up the huge tank, and even with 20 or so puffs, there is no flavour and there never was. Same exact scenario as the Zenith Pro.

So with the Smok, I took a new coil, scored the cotton (as per Jai Haze on YouTube's suggestion), and primed the coil until it could not hold any more juice (as per another suggestion), and again... nothing. Nada. Vapour and flavourlessness.

I am waiting adequate times, too, before trying to vape them (10-30 minutes) and I do dry (not charged) hits to help pull the liquid in. I close off the air, etc.

I just don't understand this? I can taste my DTL and my MTL PNP pods just fine. I can taste my Vaporesso tank just fine (I dislike it though as it's just an awful tank on the GTX One). Someone suggested maybe the ReeWape adapter wasn't working well, so I put both of the tanks on the Vaporesso GTX One and same scenario. I adjusted wattage on all of them as well.

I'm so confused and I've tried everywhere I can to get some sort of help, as I'm tired of wasting money on new tanks only to have this happen.

Thank you!

Where you least expect it....
With the e-liquid you're filling the tank, do any or all of them have sweeteners in them? That may contribute to the shortened lifespan of the coil. As for flavor, that is odd since I've heard some expressing their enjoyment with Voopoo products. When you prime them, how long do you let them sit before taking a drag from them?

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with pod systems. However, I do hope some others on the forum with more knowledge of pods respond to you.

I'm not having any problem with the flavour from my pods, that's the only thing that I am getting flavour from. The coils just die quick, and yeah I am partial to fruits so most of my liquid is quite sugary I'm sure.

I'm having problems not having any flavour from my Zenith Pro or my Smok Baby Beast TFV8 (V1).

Hi and welcome to ECF. I wish I could help. I have Vaporesso Vinci and never had any issues with flavor, only with leaking pods, so I also got a 510 adapter and use the mod with regular 510 threaded tanks, like Zenith and Zlide. I find all the Z coils very flavorful--once fully broken in. I don't own a Smok. Hope you can figure this one out! Good luck!

Thank you! What is the typical "break-in period" for tanks then? As that may be my problem. I feel like I am simply just used to the pods which have no break-in period.

I'd say 4 ml or so, so a tankful. I usually get the best flavor the day after. These coils last a long time, 2-3 weeks, on average. Prime the coil, fill the tank, let it sit for 15 min or so. Then choose a low wattage setting. After a while, you can adjust your wattage up or down, as necessary.

I myself don’t have much problem with the VooPoo pnp 60-80 watt vm5-6 coils at all, also on the flavor side if things they work very well I own probably 65-75 different tanks and rta, rda’s and the flavor is different on every one almost and there are some people like myself that certain flavors are just mute to us, when i first started vaping about 3 years ago I bought several tanks chasing strawberry flavors and the only one I found that was any kind of decent was the freemax meshpro and the aspire cleito 120 i get more luck from stuff that I’m not used to as I have been using the same juice since I quit smoking but now i carry 4 mods in my bag instead of 1 sadly they are all slowly going to pods or pnp style devices but I use a different juice in each one for the times the blue raspberry lemonade let’s me down the short answer tho, best flavor for me is uwell crown5 horizon falcon2 freemax meshpro 2/3( same coils) and for pods voopoo dragmax and lost vape ursa quest with the pro tank and of course on the days I’m feeling lucky my Jenna rta

Seems like your priming the coils right so quite strange your not getting the flavor coming through. I have the smoke Baby Beast V1 and V2 and have not had any issues with flavor. The V2 is definately the better tank but the V1 is still good.
What wattage are you vaping at with the smok coils? Are you getting good vapor?
In general the pod coils will give better results at a lower wattage than a tank will.
My smok coils last me a good couple of weeks before they start to degrade.

I've pretty much given up with my VooPoo devices that I've been using and ordered a Lost Vape Grus. I'm thinking it's probably that the ReeWape adapter is just a POS and the proper wattage/voltage isn't coming through them to make my tanks taste like anything. Doesn't help that over the weekend my Drag X's battery door literally refused to open, even with pliers, so I'm pretty well done with that company at this time. I'll post back after I've had a chance to try the Grus with them.

For reference, I was vaping the 0.6 TFV8 Baby coil starting at 20 and up to 35/40 (it has a range of 20-50 IIRC) with no flavour. I was getting okay vapour but probably not what is expected of that tank.

Okay so today I finally got my Lost Vape Grus in the mail with the Freemax Fireluke 3. Unfortunately, my supplier sent me the wrong coils, but I'm sure they'll fix me up since I've bought a lot from them in the past.

Trying out the 0.2 on this current tank and while I don't really like how airy it is (I like a RDL hit), I can at least taste the vape. The flavour is a bit muted, which I'm chalking up to needing a break-in, but at least it's not totally flavourless like the other two tanks. I'm gonna test them soon, but I think my issue all around was the Drag S/X adapters.

    Final Update:

The Fireluke 3, TFV8 Baby Beast, and Zenith Pro all have flavour on my new Lost Vape Grus.

Conclusion: Avoid the ReeWape VooPoo Drag S/X adapter, it doesn't work worth a crap!
Glad you've finally got to the bottom of the problem. Interesting to know it was the adaptors causing the issue.
