In our recent trip to California we noticed that driving through higher elevations caused our cartos to flood horribly and ruined several throughout the trip.. I have pretty much always been a big fan of the carto tank technology but we have both decided that the replacement times are just too obnoxious and have finally decided to upgrade to the Vivi Nova :)

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Isn't vivi nova a downgrade? Kinda kidding. Are you always driving thu high elevation? This e cigs stuff can be pesky at times. This is a new one to me. Thanks for posting. Hope somebody super smart posts the fix. Like when shampoo leaks out in the suitcase deal. Might be no fix. What about those people in high elevations all the time? Or is it the change from normal to high? Like when our ears pop? I bet that was piss off. It made me laugh out loud because I saw immediately in minds eye 4 people vaping along on vacation all happy and their devices start acting up and juice getting in their mouths and all messed up

Well we both rotate 3 tanks of different flavors and that means 6 cartos in use at a time.. We buy two packs of 5 every two weeks and we still seem to run out too fast.. I like the liquids with sweetener in them which clogs up the cartos faster but I refuse to change my tastes just because a small part of the technology doesn't work for me. I actually preferred using the CE4s that we had but they seem to burn out really fast on VV (I use a twist) and I've heard on here that the Nova and the Twist go together like macaroni and cheese. The replacement wicks for the nova are cheap and I would think would last a bit longer than an SR carto.. So to me that would be an upgrade.. Plus, they're really pretty :p

I recently had a similar situation flying to Paris. Just blew out the carto once we got up there and I realized what had happened. Not that big of a deal but if switching is your only option then the ViVi is probably the way to go. Keep in mind that this technology isn't perfect either. Some of the heads are worthless right out of the box. Wicking can be a problem at times. It's kind of give and take as far as what your willing to compromise on. Keep in mind that the technology will only get better. Hell when I started over 2 yrs. ago vv was all the new rage and now sGo's have vv.

I wouldn't call it an "upgrade" going to any clearo. Really. But, in this case, it may work for you if you change elevations and don't want to blow out the cartos into a napkin every so often. I keep a napkin in my ashtray for just such emergencies, and love my carto tanks too much to go back to clearos.

I hope you find a solution that works for you!

We don't plan on completely getting rid of the tanks (backups of backups, right?) just moving them down on the list of everyday use.. This way if we buy two boxes of cartos they should more than last us the two weeks plus during our higher elevation road trips (and we will make those several times a year as our family is quite spread out) stick with the novas for less issues.. I don't know that I'll ever find something that hits as nicely as a freshly soaked carto but as far as convenience and our busy schedules, efficiency is important :)

Well on the way there we took the northern route through Colorado and that's where the worst of it happened.. On the way home we went south adding another 8 hours on our trip time but we didn't hit as many high points.. The worst was New Mexico/Arizona and we tried to keep them as clean as possible through there.. We also hit pretty much every blizzard that swept the country in December LOL and so that made it an extremely stressful trip.

The solution might be as simple as punching one less hole in your carto? I have just discovered that in the winter months I need 3 holes for my juice to wick properly. Get ready for the dry, burnt hits with the Vivi.

We order ours prepunched with two holes and they work out fine even in the cold.. I used a CE4 for a couple months before switching to the tanks and never really had any problems with them aside from the plastic cracking along the bottom..

Hmm could be, but the key issue if you are having pressure differential issues is the reduction in external air pressure outside of the tank while the internal pressure is remaining. Since containers will always try to equalize this creates the situation where the only way is to push though the caro creating flooding while gaining elevation, and could create a dry situation when loosing elevation. Yes the Vivi nova might rectify this since it uses a wicking action to feed the atty. Without a lot of R&D it would be difficult at best to make a reliable sealed system that could reduce the pressure by allowing air to escape without juice doing the same.
