I question the intent, sincerity, and motivation for this thread..

I would suggest to anyone who is a smoker.. that has done even a cursory review of the facts around vaping.. and even remotely feels that vapers are "fooling themselves" Just keep smoking.

I do micro medical devices, I am around doctors all the time.. my best friends are doctors.. my own cardiologist is a guy I do kickboxing with.. and he has been unofficially tracking my progress as an ex smoker / new vaper.

Doctors simply will not stake themselves out until far more research has been published for far longer than research has been done. There are as many political reasons as there are professional ones. It will take some time for the mainstream medical community to weigh in and get behind vaping. Off the record however, I know many doctors who recognize the benefits in vaping.

I'm not fooling myself when in 2 months time, my lungs have cleared, blood pressure dropped, and endurance is measurably improved.

There are plenty of post in this forum about studies and safety of ecigs. No one has the answer as to complete safety. If there is a doubt then why would you do it?? You don't have to go back to smoking get the patch or gum or pills or hypnosis or cold turkey. If your looking for help then ask for help on the info or studies. I still say it screams agenda. I'm putting away my soap box as this thread is in the wrong part of the forum anyway.

Tis curious OP didn't mention improved lung function after a few months. Anyone how does some exercise would notice.

Does it really matter that it's the first or hundredth post or that the person has an agenda or not? All that doesn't change the validity of the question no matter who asks it does it?

And to say that if we have doubts about vaping we should just return to smoking is a strange answer. As already said I'm vaping in the hope that it is better than the alternative and glad to see that studies to date seem to confirm this but again who felt the novice nature of cigarettes after only one or two years.

Yes it does matter actually. Those with real concerns tend to read and research. This question has been asked and answered many times here. knowing how these threads go would deter most people from asking until they've built up a reputation. Doing so will make for a much more productive discussion. The question has been asked and answered many times. It doesn't need to be beat up constantly for trolls. Let's save our energy for those genuinely seeking help.

The OP was intentionally looking to provoke everyone to further his agenda. His last line sums that up by accusing everyone here of being naive and living in denial. I wouldn't have even chimed in if not for that. When someone really is worried, they don't make insulting accusations while asking.

In short, 9 times out of 10 a new member asking this isn't being genuine. A non genuine and insulting question deserves a non genuine answer. An established member asking this question likely is sincere, thus deserves a genuine and intellectual answer/discussion.

Before I made the jump I researched non stop and what I found that while there was no in depth studies yet as it's still generally newish it's much safer than traditional cigarettes. Like everyone else said most of the chemicals are found in daily items we all use. The physical effects are definitely well worth it (no smell, more energy, less stuffed up) even if there's a study that comes out saying the nicotine is really bad for you as most vapers use their ecigs more than they used to smoke that seems to mainly be because the nicotine takes longer with a ecig to hit the blood stream. Maybe in the future they'll be able to find a way to counteract that (meaning less nicotine were putting in ourselfs)

I'm turning this on you. The FDA, ALA, and a whole alphabet soup full of other entities have been demonizing it for years based on flawed studies and trying to ban it based on risks and dangers that they cannot currently find.

People have been vaping since 2004. In 8 years, someone would have gotten sick from it. Where are they? I'm a show me kinda guy. Where are the people that it is making sick? Until I see some evidence to the contrary, I am not going to be PC and say it is safe until it harms someone. Bring them on. We are easy to find.

I have concern not for the effluent but for the nicotine intake. As much as I love my cig free life, I feel like I'm ingesting twice the nicotine that I would with cigs for the simple reason I can vape whenever and where ever I want, and I do. That said, I don't feel that nicotine is any more dangerous than the similar alkaloid caffeine, but who knows?

So why don't you cut down on the nicotine? It's real easy with ecigs; you can even go 0 nic.

. Is it? I can't imagine that inhaling vaporized propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin is good for my lungs... Don't get me wrong, I am vaping with the understanding that the behavior can or could be VERY hazardous to my health. Ultimately, there simply is no research as of yet to determine the impact of vaping on health. Let's not continue to fool ourselves.

Can't be any worse than breathing the fresh air in some cities. And so far there has been no evidence of harmful effects attributed to vape, though several health benefits have come to light.

Okay okay, another one of "these" threads. Funny that I read through quite a few like this one in the last several weeks. But here's the thing I really liked about this thread. The members with less than 100 posts that recognized what this thread really is. That to me says they have been paying attention to the pattern and recognizing the "agenda". Kudos to all those that spot the BS in these so called concerned vapers. The folks that have been around this forum for a while now have seen these threads numerous times. They are easily identified and I think we are all getting tired of them. So if someone gets defensive about vaping in threads like this then I say you're doing the right thing by defending vaping and your right to vape.
I'm that guy that says "lets not bite one another folks, it gets us no where". I'm also the guy that will not come to the defense of an OP that belittles this community with their very first post.
We all have concerns for our health, that's why we vape.

I'm always astonished to see the response this kind of questioning provokes.

It's as if every vaper was attacked personally. The reactions are dismissive and very defensive as a rule.
Is it so unreasonable to question the safety of vaping?

The usual responses are:
1-no matter what it's much better than cigarette.
2- PG is used in asthma medication, to create smoke at shows etc.

Personally I find those arguments very questionable. First how do we know that it's much better than cigarettes? How many of us have felt the bad effects of smoking after 1 or 2 years? It usually takes much longer to become noticeable. Second how can the amounts of PG contained medication or false smoke be compared to those we are inhaling while vaping? Personally i often vape close to 10ml/day. Don't think any asthmatic inhales anywhere close to that.

Why so defensive? I vape as said quite a bit and hope it's much better than smoking but to date nobody to my knowledge has demonstrated what happens to those large quantities of PG that I inhale.

When some one accuses me of being a liar I do take it as a personal attack. If someone accuses me of fooling myself because I'm supposedly ignorant to the safety of vaping I do take it as a personal attack. "Why so defensive?" Because this thread and the similar thread started by you come across as being antagonistic and belittling. Maybe if a little bit of tact was being used when starting a thread like this then maybe there wouldn't be as much offense being taken.
