Nice review man, followed! Everything you said was spot on and i agree with everything. I did the same thing, heard verts was the way to go so i did that and honestly i prefer the horizontals on this one.

Agreed. I didn't do a vertical build and don't intend to either as my horizontals are working great. Just like you mentioned in your review, the air hole slots are horizontal so it seems that is the best way to build it. Seems to me that it would be a hotter vape with verts.

Concerning the logo on the atty, it's an H for Hobo. The horizontal slash is a (walking) stick with a hobo's survival satchel tied to the end. Just like what's on the sticker inside of the packaging.

I am flavor biased, but always VG heavy, always building for a vision blocking density of vape.
With dual verticals you have to go macro, since wicks feed from only one side of the coil.
With the Hobo you can do both vert or horizontal successfully.
The above vid where an attempt with a long skinny vertical micros built away from the vents were not ideal.
Try 6 wraps of 24 ga around 1/8 drill bit and place them close to the drip well cut outs.
Placed correctly with the vents wide open, you won't need to make mega size whistling .... type rips for the big clouds.
In fact done right, you can take easy lung inhales while having them dense clouds and awesome flavor.
It's not just about personal opinion or preference it's about build technique and experience or just more experimentation.
There is a lot to agree with Todd's and the above video reviews, but neither are spot on or 100% accurate.

I have built 2 other vert builds since i have owned it. I did get a little better vape off the other 2 vert builds, Since i did them off camera and could focus on them more but in all honesty, I much prefer horizontal builds on the HoBo. Its all personal preference and opinion of course. For me though, I much prefer horizontals in the HoBo.

After i finally was told what the logo actually was i laughed and felt stupid in thinking it was a "H with a bow" lol

Live N Learn, Right? lol

My only issue with the HoBo that i hope they fix in a new version are those small allen screws, AGHHHH they are the same exact ones that my Orchard v3 uses and i cannot stand them!

Don't forget that this is a flavor atty (read compact chamber) and as far as I know will not accept screws with heads.

Yeah, they're tiny but as long as I can get the Allen wrench in the end, I'm good to go. It's worth the extra fiddling, if necessary, for me anyway.

I actually have slotted set screws that Hoberto gave me so i can use a flat head screw driver instead of the allen ones. I find them much easier to use with thinner gauge wire, but there definitely not ideal when you start to step it up to the thicker gauge wire. There just as small and they can snap easily up at the top part. I only have them on 1 of my hobos, the others all have the regular set screws. I only ever really had a problem with the 1, it kept striping, the allen key and the screws. But ive since managed and dont mind it as much. I can see for some when they first get it to not be a fan of them, but after a couple builds that goes away. Well in my opinion anyway.

Well ive read most of the comments on this thread and watched the video. Sounds like a very nice dripper. I only have one question- what's the draw like? Im coming from a kayfun background and like my draws tight...very tight...super tight bordering on restrictive.

Ive tried the stillar v3 (as the first dripper ive ever owned) and the draw is very airy even with as much of the airflow turned off as possible. The only other dripper ive tried is a friends magma clone and that's got a pretty nice tight draw at the smallest hole. Is it possible to close enough of the air holes on this bad boy to make it tight?

Yes it is entirely possible to adjust the airflow to your liking, you can entirely close off all the holes until it has basically zero airflow so that will allow adjustment anywhere from extremely restrictive to wide wide open.

Thanks for the info froth. I don't have any more excuses not to buy it ;)

I tried a friend's and impressed doesn't begin to cover it. I just wish there was a bottom feed option!
It can be done! I have two modified for bottom feeding. Modifications were done by Chowderhead. You can search for Catfish bottom feeder thread here on ECF for more details.

I've had a v2 that I picked up when they launched and I love it. Running dual vertical parallel coils 26g g-plat elite @ .14 ohms. I just got a couple Plume Veil 1.5's last week and tested them against each other with the same coils builds - just not vertical on the Plume Veil. I figured this was fair since each build got it's optimal set up. Fired them both on a Paps X Ti and Praxis V2 brass with the same juice. The Hobo V2 definitely wins. Better flavor, more clouds, holds more juice, smaller, and can be filled through the drip tip without leaking. It might not be as pretty or have that bearded clown hyping it, but it's definitely the best RBA I've tried that balances vapor and flavor at the highest level.

"Bearded clown hyping it" <---HAHAHA. Thanks, this had me rolling at work. Personally i had a plumeveil when it first came out and i didnt like it at all, i got sick of it leaking, seemed like it leaked more juice then it held. I'll take another hobo over that any day of the week, but thats just me, others may not agree but theres something for everyone out there.

LOL. I used to like the bearded clown when he actually taught us things we didn't know and gave us the facts, but now it's all about the payolla with him.

I just got one of those new IPV3 boxes delivered today at work. Unfortunately I've only got a new Plume Veil with me and it runs dry too quick when you crank it up to 150w. It should work great with the Hobo since you can cram way more cotton into it.

Also, I noticed a lot of people say the Hobo leaks and has bad airflow. If you built it with dual vertical coils and do the following, you should be good:

- pull the cotton through the bottom up and get it tight into the coils
- use a long, thick piece of cotton
- clip the tops off your cotton wicks real short (so they're barely there) and trim them up after clipping
- jam as much of the cotton as you can into each channel

I can dump an entire dropper into mine on a refill through the tip without a leak. On an initial fill I can use 2-3 full droppers (going onto the cotton directly). The trimming gives you better air flow and tons more vapor. Get those tops as short as you can so they're barely above the coil and you should be good to go without needing to modify the Hobo (assuming v2).

Agreed. I liked it a lot at first. Probably because it was my first dripper and I had a lot to learn. It now sits on my build station collecting dust while my Hobo and MuteX get all of the lovin'.

And yeah Lord Vaako, I can drip a ton of juice into my Hobo and have yet to have any leaks although I still build horizontals and use rayon as my wicking material.

Finally, got a clone...I suck at life, could barely afford it.lol

I tried a horizontal for my first build, but I quickly changed it to a vertical..didn't notice any difference in performance..unlike my origen, where verticals are the best way.

I haven't touched my origen since I got this hobo..I was hoping the orchid would get some use too, but I was disappointed in it/v3..

Yeah im not a fan of "the rip" i will abmit to still watching a few of his videos only dew to the fact that he seems to get the newest of the new and a lot of what im interested it. Other then that, i like others over him much more. Only 1 of my hobos leaked, ive since sent it back to Hoberto and he fixed it and is sending it back. Other then that there really the only atty ive had that didnt leak, i did have a veritas but got ...... and sold it lol regret that everyday.
