So its Monday, i broke down and cleaned everything! Looking for some good builds, anyone got any ideas? The ohms dont matter so throw me some ideas, whats your preferred build for your hobo?

Well, I just got a hand-me-down Hobo, myself... up to this point the only rdas that I'd used were Tobhs and the hybrid that was part of my Ibaloi mech... definitely an amazing atomizer and I'm very pleased to be using it! The build that is in it right now is 24g Nichrome 80, 6/5 wrap on a 2.9mm jeweler's screwdriver, comes out to 0.26 ohms. Vertically mounted very close to the air-slots, and wicked with rayon... running on a Knight mech mod (full copper tube and contacts).

I stuck the Cherry vape's cloudchaser tip in and opened the airflow all the way... right now, it's outperforming my modified Tobh, hands-down on flavor and is VERY close on vapor production....

Thats normally what i use myself, the 24g and i normally do 8 wraps. I dont think ive ever gone below .30. You think i would of with how long ive been vaping and all lol. And dont tell my hobos but i cheat on them every once and a while with my tobh, theres just something about it i dont know what it is though.

LOL... I've been cheatin' on my Tobhs all day... haven't even looked at my 26650 mod with it's gargantuan Tobh... Dirty little Hobo grabbed my attention and pulled me under the bridge!
I usually run anywhere from 0.2 - 0.6 ohms on my mechs with the occasional dip to 0.15ish...

I used 28g kanthal for the longest time, then picked up 26 and 24 in nichrome... kanthal gets no love anymore... I'll probably go through the 24g before anything else. Hell, I'll run outta that before I run outta rayon!!

I got this bad boy lol so im good for a long, long time. How is nichrome anyway? I hear a lot of people prefer it too kanthol. Whats the difference anyway, ive never used it.

I like it. I've heard other people say they get an off taste, but I don't notice it. Other than that, it is a lower resistance wire than kanthal... you can get more wraps per resistance point, so you get more coil surface area. Basically, for my build, I get 1 or 2 extra wraps over what I'd get if I'd used 24g kanthal. Check it out on Steam Engine. I'm sure you've used that before, but it's great for comparing the different wires as well as ballparking your coil builds...

The pic was a 3 pound box of rayon lol i think its the 500 foot one. And yeah ive used steam engine before just never used nichrome, always wanted too though. Ive heard people say it stays cleaner longer, like it doesnt get all cruddy lookin like the kanthal does. Thats one thing i cant stand about dripping, once my coils go dark theres only so much changing the rayon and dry burning do before i need to rebuild.

Ahhh... the 3 pounder is more like 1200', I think... I bought the 500' box, and that'll last a couple of lifetimes! I figured you'd used it before... it's kinda my go-to tool for guestimating builds and comparing wire types/sizes... nichrome does seem to gunk up less to me. Then just yank the wicks and dry burn, and it's good for another week or so... I've had nichrome builds last for months... the build in my 28mm Tobh is probably 2-3 months old and still looks/works well. I've re-wicked a few times, but the rayon holds up really well too... my maintenance schedule has dropped dramatically overall!! I've actually had kanthal start rusting on me... wasn't long after that before I switched to pretty much straight nichrome...

Wow! Months huh? Lol I think you just talked me into trying some of that nichrome, thanks! I just rebuilt my hobo tonight so it'll probly last till next month hopefully. It just seems like once it gets like that im dry burning more then im vaping lol but then again it could be my juice so who knows. Oh well, better then cigarettes right.

Absolutely better than cigarettes!! And I run fairly sweet juices... mostly fruit flavors, some apple pie, a few custards... not as gunky as NETs, but definitely more gunky than unflavored juice... if ya get a chance to give it a shot, then go for it... if ya want, shoot me a pm with your address and I'll send ya a couple feet of 24g and 26g... should be good for a few builds

Gotta run for the night... been at work for 12 hours now. Gonna run home, grab a bite to eat and crash out... get to do this all again tomorrow!

I probably wouldn't have bothered with trying it myself, but there were several other members talking about it one day, and I needed to place an order anyway... so I picked up a bit and actually prefer it over kanthal... and if it helps at all with your gunking problems, then I'm more than happy to give up some test samples!

Hey this might be my new go to wire! Like you said if it helps or lasts a little longer then ill be buying more definitely. If i needed more wire i would of probly tossed it in my cart as well, but i stocked up a while ago and still have plenty. Ive been bouncing back and fourth between 26g and 24g, i still have a new roll of 22g and that flat wire that i think is either 20g? Or maybe its 22g. Its that CCI wire, and personally i dont like it very much.
