For whatever reason, every time I look at your avatar, I see a weatherman standing in front of a map of the US and the entire middle section of the map shows that it's cloudy.

It's only when I take off my glasses and get close enough to the screen to see it well that I see it for what it is.

Definitely let me know what you think about it after you try it... I always enjoy hearing other people's experiences.
I haven't even bothered with the flat wire... just doesn't really seem worth the trouble to me. Maybe some day I'll get bored and try Clapton coils or whatever the kids are callin' em these days... but for now, I just wrap single wire on a 2.9mm jeweler's screwdriver and call it a day... I figure if I'm happy with my vape, then what difference does it make, right?

It doesnt make a difference really your right, i agree. For the longest time i only used 24g 8 wraps around a 7/64 drill bit, it was great for me and was my go to build. Im not into all those fancy builds people are doing now, i dont have the patience, time or waste of wire for it ya know. And i only got the flat wire cause all these people were saying the surface area made better flavor with a sub ohm build, tasted the same to me lol plus to get where i like to be i needed a lot of wraps and with flattened 22g you could imagine how long the coil would be.

I dont know how well this will show but this is the flat wire and a piece of 26g. I mean 5 or 6 wraps and its damn near a 1 inch long coil and its not easy to work with, it just snapped and sliced my thumb. Good times..

I press round wire if I want it flat and twisted.

..wasted 50' of 26awg dialing in various twists..but this is my favorite out of all of them..loose twist pressed at about 15tons..

Is the hobo v1 larger? I love my clone, but it is a little too warm for my liking... figured even just a mm of height added to the chamber will be much cooler.

Just wondering before I pay for an authentic..or two..cuz he deserves it.

PM me if I didn't already 'berto..

Are there fully black authentics? Haven't looked, cuz I never see them at vendors I trust..or on forums.

Thanks

One.

Just got my 2 new hobos in from Vapor DNA with the large bore drip tips. I swapped top caps with one of my stock hobos with standard drip tip. Very nice. I have to vape a bit more before posting thoughts but the nicotine is definitely coming through loud and clear, more so than with the stock cap even with 3 mg/ml.

Did you get the subohm version of the hobo? Where the top air flow cap and drip tip are one? That thing is sick!

Yes, the Hobo has been my favorite for a while now and when I saw those, I just couldn't resist. Liking it so far though I had to put it down after the nicotine buzz I got. Haven't had time to really wring out the flavor differences yet.

Awww man im so jealous of that top drip hat! Lol I actually had to talk myself out of buying a 4th hobo just to get that. But Hoberto said they'll be sold separately so i didnt buy another. How is the draw with that anyway? More open?

It's slightly more open, the original was quite good. The biggest difference I'm noticing is that it's quieter and feels better. I was moving enough air through it that I'd get whistling with the stock 510 and often have juice build up in the drip tip if I inhaled aggressively with little droplets coming through. That juice build up would result in weird pulsing effects as the juice would flip flop around in the breeze.

I'm really not getting that now. Even when I really max out the juice overdrip, so far I'm not getting any droplets. I have been running it around 25 Watts but I've punched it up to 30 for testing. I've been limited on testing so far since even with dropping my nic from 6 to 3 today, it's hitting pretty hard.

Holy!!! Just punched it up to 35 Watts. Interestingly it didn't seem like I was under wicking which was why I was keeping it around 25 Watts with the old setup. It really, really hits hard at 35 Watts... No sign of droplets or juice in the mouth. I'll try 40 next in a couple hours when I can stand the thought of nic again.

I have that problem sometimes too, with certain drip tips. Thats where most of my juice spray comes from. I have mine at 36 watts with the top completely closed off and 6mg nic and its super warm i love it but first thing in the morning i have to drop the watts cause its too much that early.

I have the sides wide open and the top about 1/3 open and it really isn't hot. Pleasingly warm yes. :D

Well, a few thoughts on flavor since I've had a bit more time with it. With the cuff style cap, the flavor seems to diminish slightly at the same settings. Not as much as I'd expect but it's there. The payoff though is that it let's you use more wattage than I could apply with my standard, stainless drip tip. I've taken it up to 45 Watts without any real issues though it was hitting the ceiling for how warm I want my vape. The big payoff though is that the flavor really seems to jump when you get up to 35 Watts and above.

Got my replacement deck. Hoberto also included the well ring, extra screws, screw driver and a wide bore drip tip top cap. I've got to say, I am completely happy now. This thing is awesome and that is some top quality customer service. On my first build, I am getting about the same flavor/vapor as the magma with one coil hole about 3/4 open and top air closed. I think this will be my new favorite rda. I take back what I've said about buying authentic versus clone when it comes to the Hobo. It was worth the price.

On a side note, I tried taking the screws out of the old deck with the new (better) screwdriver, but they are completely stripped and will not come out.

Venusian, if you want suggestions on how to remove that screw, here is how I usually deal with it:
If you can get ahold of the top of the screws with a pair of wire cutters or something then you can pull up slightly while trying to unscrew and you should be able to remove the stripped screw.
On the clone that I have, the post hole was stripped. I used a 2-56 bottom tap to re-tap all of the post holes and replaced the screws with 2-56 set screws... everything works fine with it now.

I ended up making my own little allen key with a dremel. I started with a bigger version of a hex screw driver, kinda like the one Hoberto was sending to some people and just shaved that baby down to size. It actually works pretty good. I assume it works just like the one he gave out, now i can make multiples with the other sizes lol since i dont use them for anything else.

I was able to get one of them out using some small scissors. I put a new grub screw in and there is definitely something wrong with the threading. I worked the screw in and out a number of times and it seem to have helped enough to make it useable. The other one, which was locked up from the beginning still won't budge. I am going to try to drill it out with a 1/16 bit once my drill charges up.
