Definitely, just my personal preference. Like I said I'm not bashing, I've not even tried it, I was asking about this mod bc I'm looking for a beater and I'd been told this one has the ability to input a TFR range. TCR setting/adjustments probably works well enough for most people but my experience w/ it was inconsistent, hence me looking for a mod that I can just input the entire range of electrical resistivity.

I may be stuck with dna for that but id figured by now there'd be other boards that did it. (plus I was told this was one of them) not even a dna fanboy, or even think their chips are designed well, really... if there is a board that does tc better I'll gladly try it... The menu system is clumsy, I've had inductors fall off 4 times on 4 boards, and like I said the default/factory material/wire type settings on all my dna boards were wrong and I had to delete and replace them before tc will work properly.

That's exactly what I thought, dudes posts are extremely hard to follow & lack any kind of punctuation. reads like a train wreck.
Nothing wrong with liking a DNA mod, I am anxious to get my hands on the think vape finder dna 167 in either the gun metal or copper. It is great to have options, just wanted to point out an option to the dna that I also enjoy. Not that what I enjoy will be for everyone but it might be for some.

My gut tells me you would enjoy a dna mod more, you seem to have the technical mind to get the most out of it. The FSK mods are more of a mod for those who want to tinker a little, not a lot.

The main reason I want the Finder 167 is I have heard it already comes set up to go out of the box, one of the main reasons I bought a Triade DNA200. I like to get into the tech as well but escribe is way too involved for me when it is not setup in advanced. The first dna200 mods that required a lot of user setup to get it working properly all the way down to the batteries, that's way more than I personally want to do.

I get why escribe is great for so many though, a lot of customization to really make it personal to the end user. That is great for some and not so great for others, same thing with the FSK mods.

Not sure which dna mods you have but have you thought about the SMY SDNA75? I really like that mod and it can be picked up in the $40 range. I also really like my Hcigar VT75 but the 510 base needs to be cleaned out from time to time and the battery life can be poor for a 26650 mod. Aside from that though the VT75 is really well built and can be had for about $50 which Is a real fair price.

+1 on the suggestion for a SMY DNA75. It gets two big thumbs up from me with regard to one the points you raised: set up in advance. It comes very nicely set up – the reviewer Daniel DJLsb worked with SMY on it (it even shows his logo on start up) and it’s very complete. I used it for quite some time before I had the need/desire to hook it up to Escibe to fiddle with settings. In comparison, other DNA devices I’ve bought, such as Hcigar, need a lot of Escribe time before they are truly useable.

The SMY build quality is decent. Nothing spectacular, but good button feel, no rattles and a decent 510. The buttons themselves feel a bit cheap but no problems at all with functionality. Solid value for the price.

As you already know, I'm one of the people that likes to tinker a lot. My Finder167's tracking finally updated last night and has an expected delivery date on Thursday. I'll post my ecig file so if you have any issues you can grab it.

Cheers,
Steve

I am going to search again and see if any US vendors have the finder 167 in stock. Just paid all my property taxes though so not really in the spending mood [emoji36]

From everything I have heard your gonna love it.

Hi Folks. I've just bought in. I just ordered (2) Silver Slice SE's, thanks to a few suggestions from Tpat on ordering :thumb:. I've been looking at these for a while and have been very interested :). I also own a SVD2 and like it very much :thumb:, but am not an ideologue as far as EVOLV chips go. I'm more of a pragmatist when it comes to vaping equipment, as long as it gets me from point "A" to point "B" I'm IN, but the Slice's chipset seems to have a bit of Style added to it, and at 66 years old, I need all the Style I can get. ;)

I'll be starting back on page 15 of this thread for tips and tricks concerning the Slice.

Last night I only got around to trying kanthal using xxx mode. About 9% FSK is the lowest I could go with the mod still wanting to fire. I started at 3% though. Maybe not all kanthal is alike cuz mjag you were saying between 3 and 8%. I have 24G Temco Kanthal.
Yeah there are variations in kanthal as well as the type of coil, clapton, alien....etc. It also comes down to user preference as well, there is no hard and fast rule. It depends on the weather too, if it is really cold it will probably take more FSK % to get the vape you want.

I just noticed it also depends on how good the connection is. I am using the new TFV8 RBA with the goon style clamps and it is not making that great of a connection. My 521 Tab was telling me this until I really cranked it down. Even then it is spotty on all my mods. I was using it the other night on my G2 and was working well but this morning wouldn't fire until I upped the FSK 1%. I am going to take out that RBA and see if there is something loose some were, if not it is going in the trash and I will go back to the regular RBA that came in the kit, that worked perfectly.

My aromamizer v1 worked fine with tc and kanthal then my aromamizer v2 fired in the "digital watts mode" but I couldnt get it to fire at all in xxx mode or tc kanthal mode. Could be I was tired at 2 am when trying the tanks lol but dunno maybe make sure the copper contact pin is unscrewed enough on the aromamizer v2. I know the V1 had a coil that was 0.31 ohm and the v2 had a coil measuring at 0.37 ohm and when in xxx mode and tc kanthal mode the v2 seemed like it wasnt even recognized. The ohm wrecker was thinking I still had the v1 aromamizer with the 0.31 ohm coil on there even though it was a completely different coil.

The G2 should automatically detect new coils though right? On my Xcube 2 it would ask is this a new coil? But im assuming the G2 is like my Sig 150 where it automatically sees the new coil when its screwed down on the 510.

No it doesn't detect new coils, when you switch tanks you have to clear the resistance of the last tank. The easiest way is to hit the fire button a couple of times after taking off the last tank then screw on the next tank and hit the fire button again. This will lock in the new resistance.

I think they might be working on a new firmware that adds that though. I bought a slice directly from Hohmtech at a vape convention. He asked if I wanted him to update the firmware and I said sure. On that Slice it does ask me if it is a new coil when I put on another tank but none of my other slice or G2's do and they have the latest firmware, I just checked.
I guess I got a firmware on the new slice that is not out yet, everything else seems to work the same though.

Well the last f/w for the G2 is from September so maybe we will get a new update soon. Honestly the TC for kanthal is really cool but in theory kanthal doesnt have the same tc properties as say nife 52 or 430 ss. I am hoping that when I use Nife52 that the flavor is really really good. I know in wattage mode nife52 is already great so i can only imagine.

To experiment with going to have 1 aroma with 316L, 2 with kanthal, 2 with Nife52, and 1 with 430 SS. Might try 304 SS as I have some of that too but TC is supposed to work better with 316L and 430.

Great thing about all these wires though is worse case scenario they still work pretty good in wattage mode. I mean I have a spool of titanium A1 that I havent even opened yet but heard Ti coils are good.

mjag, got a question for ya. I went to the HΩ tech Update page and DL'd the Updater no Problem, but, when I tried to DL the Newest update (FSK_S_1.2.4), my computer opened the file to my screen instead of saving it to my computer. I am running Windows 7. Any advise ?? Have you ever heard of that happening before ??

I have 7 temp control Devices here, but, have always just used either Kanthal, or now NiCr, in Power mode, and was more than happy with my vape. The reason I bought the (2) Slices is that with the coupon code Tpat turned me on to, lowered the cost of entry to about the same as a new Presa 75 or 100/Cuboid 150/VTC mini 75 (and I need more Mod's anyways). I will try the Slice with NiCr in TC mode, and hope that since I am not jaded by previous TC experiences that my learning curve won't be as steep, since I won't have to Unlearn anything about TC, but I know that I will be guessing as to what 400F, or 450F should taste and feel like. Still though, this should be a fun trip for me. Can't wait for my Slices to get here. I have been waiting for the Technology to get around to Kanthal being able to be run in TC mode so I could try it. I will be trying the Slice with a Lemo in DL mode and NiCr @ 0.98Ω and KGD wicking.

I usually use power mode with most of my other mods as well @52anddone . I like TC from time to time but generally for my style of vaping power mode was what I liked.

I normally have my FSK mods setup that if you didn't know it and took a vape you would think you are in power mode with preheat applied. In my car is usually when I ramp it down a little so I can see were I am going.

The fun part is finding what FSK % works for you. My settings might be completely different than yours and that is perfectly fine. It does take some trial and error at first but once you get the hang of it you will probably love it.
