OK, so lets talk for a minute... hypothetically speaking...

IF by chance, I found a crystal clear material that exceeds the ability of Pyrex to be impervious to liquids... ie. your juice has absolutely NO ability to damage it... and by chance, I can get it in the correct tubing size to use as the tank on the Zenesis PVs and Z-attys...

And what if there was NO additional machining required to make this happen...

The only thing is waiting to have the material cut may take a week... but we are already delayed by the machine shop anyway...

And I am 98% percent certain based on thorough and exhausting calculations that there is plenty of clearance and it won't have the thermal expansion issue....

Those are the upsides...

The downside possible delay of a few extra days...

It's expensive... but not to worry, I'm not changing the price of anything, I'm just commenting that it's expensive and replacement tanks will cost a bit more...

Anyway...

By my calculations, experiments and knowledge of materials, I would like to propose that the Zenesis Hyprid PV and and Z-attys... starting with THIS shipment... would be the FIRST and ONLY PV or tank for that matter to be supplied with...

A Fused Quartz Tubing Tank section.

It blows Pyrex out of the water...

It's EXOTIC!

And it's what REPLACED Pyrex in most serious labs.

Because it's better...

This is exciting stuff... should we do it?

Zenfidels... ESPECIALLY the Febbies...

What say you?
febies would be foolish not to say ok do it ! I am a Marchie which I am screaming DO IT MAN GO FOR IT !!!

I'm ok with the delay (how long is the delay btw?). My only concern would be about durability. I'm assuming that this is a very hard material. Hard materials tend to be rather brittle. Do you forsee any impact/shatter issues? Also, any chance of a matching SS tube in the future?

I don't see any shatter issues that Pyrex wouldn't already have and people are begging for it! The Polycarbonate is the toughest clear material, yet it has issues that people don't want to deal with.

The CAD is already done for Stainless tubes... just waiting for a chance to get it into the machining queue

I did not just say that because I am a marcher. I was one of the first to bring up glass as I prefer it. I use pyrex drip tips.

I did not mean to do anything that would effect my fellow friends the febers. I just think we all want the best device we can get. So do you. I hope the febers decide to wait for their sake.

I am a little less concerned about durability than a more natural safe material. Also I vape juices that have issues with the poly's.

Plus we can always get replacements. :)

Zen, you rule. I knew I hitched myself to the right wagon. I truly appreciate what you are doing.

That's why I recused myself. Secretly I was hoping there would be resounding support for the fused quartz...

I much prefer glass next to my juices. Leaching is a real issue. With glass, you just don't have to worry about chemicals leaching into your juice. Fused quartz is a win-win, IMO.

Though, I don't even want to think about what kind of chemicals I've been vaping from the fibers in my cartos. ;) Don't tell me! I do not want to know. Ignorance is bliss.

A Feber here.

Mike, I signed on in part because you said you were going to make the best PV you possibly could, and you then proceeded to go out and do just that. It would be a shame to compromise now. That isn't what this is supposed to be about.

Go for it.

Oh boy, decisions... decisions... I really like the idea of the fused quartz. Here is my quandry... I am moving at the end of the month and don't want to take the chance of loosing my baby to some evil ....... mail fairy. If it will arrive before the end of the month I am definitely in! I love the idea of pioneering technology especially when I have it.

My question Zen~ is... Will it arrive before the end of the month? If not, will the crystal fused tank tube be available for purchase?

Don't mean to be the guy in the jury to say the guilty guy is innocent! I just have my concerns.

Thank you both.

One more point for consideration.

When I got on this thread, this PV was going to be made by Zen, by hand, out of aluminum, in small batches. I signed up because I wanted one, not because I was promised it by a given date.

In short order, it turned out it would be made of 316 LVM stainless. Now, by waiting just a bit more, we can ditch the poly tanks and get fused quartz, which will be as much of an advancement as 316 LVM.

I never actually expected to be a Feber. When I signed up--before there were Zenefidels--or BZ if you will--I thought I would be lucky to get a Zenesis by March, so it is in no way a sacrifice.

Nope, the material itself is called fused quartz. The quarts is fused together to create the product during the manufacturing process. The result of the process is a type of glass, in this case in the shape of a tube, that acts similarly to other glass products.

- Tim

that is but isnt entirely true....glass IS quartz that has been liquified.....glass still is in liquid form even as we think it is hardened........take a look at 100 year old glass. it's thicker at the bottom and thin at the top.....its because it is still in movement with gravity. Quartz is a crystal and can not therefor be called glass, hence for zen's application, it's called 'fused' quartz...

Ok now I am a tad bit worried. I havent received a confirm from Zen about the payment yet. I know he is busy now, just wondering if all febbers have received a confirm and I some how accidentally fell off Zens list of something?
I haven't received a confirm, paid by PP and $ were transferred, so I'm fairly certain everything's OK? Zen???

What say you?

The material is called "fused quartz"... It will be just as easy to replace, but it's scratch resistant, will not discolor and will not have any interaction with the juice.
Assuming my payment went through OK, I'd be a Febbie, and I'd say heck yes!!! This is going to be all kinds of awesome! :):):)
