This only appears to be sudden...

I've been exploring it for use on the Dragon PV... and yes, I'm confident in this material. The reason for the sudden shift is that I cannot work with this material. I lack the skills and tools to manipulate it cleanly... I had all but ruled it out as a solution on the PVs but a supplier I have been working with has contacted me and is willing to do all of the cuts in their factory and ship the tubes to me already to use.

The material itself is about 8x the price of pyrex in it's OEM form, which is still not awful. It can be expensive to have it cut and finished. I was able to come to an agreement by purchasing a large enough quantity that is can be done by them for what I feel is a reasonable price given the performance of the material.

I think this is an amazing solution, better than I could have hoped for.

I just want to add that I "Nostro-Jon-Damus" posted here on 2/14/2012 Who said it's metal? Maybe it's Quartz? & mentioned Quartz being used for the Dragon because I had a premonition while web surfing on the web available options for custom glass vaporizers that were extolling the virtues of using Titanium or a quartz heating disc that you heat up until it glows with a blow torch prior to using the neat looking albeit archaic contraption as a vaporizer.

I love the idea of Quartz reservoirs for my March order, the stuff can be heated to extreme temps and extreme cold temperatures immediatley and is not affected like borosilicate glass; shatters. I saw it demostrated on a YouTube video.

I will accept whatever prize that is awarded for naming a mystery material for the Dragon before it was mentioned by the creator, but all I really want is to get my :sneaky: Zenesis Standard by MARCH 1ST for MY BIRTHDAY..hint hint, but seriously...I'm not kidding!

:sneaky: I also predict the world will not end in 2012.

P.S. :sneaky:

Crystal or glass or whatever you wanna call it I think we are losing site of the fact that zen has once again found a way to improve on a great design, and is gonna be sending us a seriously top notch PV .... The zenfidels are getting restless, but let's try to remember that our desire for "the perfect vape" has brought us all here and made us a family, I guess squabbles are a part of it but let's be happy we will all be out of cheap Chinese equipment hell

Zen~, I am still struggling with whether or not to jump on the Titanium list. Part of my dilemma is financial, which, of course, you can't help me with.

But the other part is the size of the Standard relative to my feminine, and exceedingly attractive small hands. I know the length and diameter relative to the Mini from your website but don't recall reading anything in the thread about weight. And the fused quartz may have changed things, too.

Anyway, I am curious - can you tell us the weight of the Standard, Zentenium, (I still prefer TiZen but you're the boss) and Mini for comparison's sake?

Titanium weighs about half of what steel does.
So, I'd imagine the Ti standard would be about the weight of the steel mini.

Quartz is actually a little stronger then pyrex, I can drop a quartz test tube and it can survive, sometimes it will break, but sometimes it won't......Pyrex test tubes always break. Basically anything strong enough to break a decent size thickness lets say the standard polycarbonate sizing, would also crack the poly it might not shatter the poly but the tank would still be dead....

Maybe, put some shock absorbing orings...or a clear plastic/rubber sleeve that slips over the Quartz tube section to abosrb the shock from any potential drops? When I was using Primatene Mist inhalers they are sturdy glass cannisters that were coated with a shock absorbing plastic/rubber layer. I flung my inhalers on asphalt by mistake when shaking them and they never broke.

Can you throw in protective shock absorbing sleeve, ZEN? I'll buy it too, but you like giving so much and would never rob you from the joy of giving. :p

And if you could somehow have the PV be able to cook dinner for me that would be great!! Jk, just do what ur doing and get that investment back...you can work on all our crazy requests after you make your millions and need new challenges

Holy cow that stirred the pot Zen~!

All that matters is that you are happy with what you send us Febby buyers. I know you will stand by whatever you send out. Again, do what you know is right in your mind. I trust your judgement, and honestly could care less what happens to the March peeps (I am one of them also). If you send it out with poly tanks, I will still be happy, and probably just buy another tank for my mini in March. TBH, I am more concerned with you loosing out due to the expense of upgrading the feb orders, yet again.

OK - off to my corner to wait patiently.

PS: bumpi, that is funny stuff regarding the Man of Steel ;)

Side note: can someone tell me how to bookmark posts, it is starting to get hard to find things I wanna go back and look at to refresh memory

TIA
bumpi, you can right click on the post number and save it to your regular bookmarks that way. I don't know if there's a way to do it on the board itself?

I gave my 2 cents on the quartz and that is all I will do to enter the debate. This actually makes me even happier as I feel that it will not be effected by liquids, and also probably be safer.

I have put all my trust in Zen and feel strongly that he wants what is best for us and to do the best job possible.

I also think we should ease up on the additional requests until we get these and then we can pipe up and talk about changes and future improvements.

If I WAS going to make a request as to a future change, it would be to substitute it for my GF. That would mean it would be able to do things that I for sure could not mention on this site or thread. Even with the leeway Zen gives us :)

I am sorry. Once a smart ..., always a smart .... Love all of you and I am really happy to be a part of all of this.

ps. I MEANT cook for me once in a while :). You are all sick!

...If he wants to go stainless steel even more awesome. ...I look forward to vaping on my zenesis no matter what tube completes the tank.
I also look forward to my Zenisis, but I did not sign up nor pay for a SS outer shell for the tank. I have my own reasons, namely, I want to see my liquid and how things are going on in there with my wick etc... Poly tank, OK, fused quartz, even better - I think. But no to SS here. It should be an option to purchase separate IMO. In fact, when I signed up, I thought the whole thing was aluminum, which meant lightweight. I am happy it isn't aluminum TBH, so don't take that out of context (Zen~). He will have spares on his website, so whatever he comes up with, we can purchase. If I need/want for a different tank or spare, I can buy one from him as long as he maintains stock and is in business (hopefully for a long time).
