Tiff, I have seen the blue Provari in person, and it is a bit darker than what is shown on their website. However, it is not as dark as the one you have in the pic, and I agree that a navy/darker blue would be sweet!!

On another note, I have a ZAU coming my way!! Should be here on Monday.

Thanks for sharing your depression stories, that took a lot of guts. I think it helps in the long run too, to share, to let it come to light of day. I try to suppress it, and then it comes out in big bad blurts here and there lol. Anyway, I'm very familiar with it too, and remembering to celebrate the blessings is my only way to stay on the surface. Even then, it's tough at times. It's tough to celebrate. It's tough to remember to celebrate. Writing it where I can see it to remind me, helps tremendously. I now even celebrate during the lack of energy times, lack of interest, etc, and make it "official". Making it "official" and a celebration, helps me, personally, to accept it instead of deny it. Denial brings on a whole nutther ballgame...

Make sure to take some pics of it.. No I like the look of the ZAU on the ProVari, Just got hooked up with a ZAP and it going with it & I thought as good as this ZAU is, it deserves the best base I can find for it!!

I'm a little late to the game, but...

You can build one on a Mini lathe in about 5 hours.... not including polishing

It's easy....

Start with 5/8 Aluminum... Chuck it up... Bore out the battery area... Set the change gears for threading it.... do the inside thread... face off the end.... turn the OD.... part it off... turn it around and face it off... set that aside...

Pop some 3/4" stock in and turn the OD of the center post, then the O-ring grooves... then core it out... face it off... turn it around and face the other side... in a drill press drill the wick, filler and ground screw hole... tap that...

Now pop in your 5/8 stock, bore out the cap, face it off, part it off and turn it around to chamfer the top... face offf the top...

You're almost done...

Next... make the switch... 5/8 stock... bore it... turn the major thread size... thread it... build a fuxture to hold the part and turn it around and make the welll for the switch button.... part that off

Now make the button... do the post first then part it off, flip it and face off the bottom...

Now ya need some half inch delrin... make the switch bushing...

And start polishing!

Zen means 7/8 stock, not 5/8 :p If you tried to bore the ~3/4 hole for the battery out of 5/8 stock, you'd end up with a pile of metal and your APV would be made out of air

Nonetheless, that was a really awesome step by step! :)

So I noticed a few people asking about machine stuff like "what is a lathe" and "what is a Swiss Screw Turning Center". Would descriptions/videos of machines and how they work be of interest to anyone? I've spent an imperial standard crapton of time researching this sort of thing and find it all fascinating!

Hey all....
I'll catch up in a little while.

In the meantime....

Anyone know where I can get replacement/back-up tanks for the aluminum standard?
I don't believe the glass standard tanks will fit.
This one works.... I just want more than one. You never know.

Edited to add:
Also, the insulator. Anyone know if the ones on HOH will fit?
It looks like if there was one, it was dug out.

Afternoon everyone!

I really enjoyed catching up on the half of Mike's visit I missed - looks like I left 1 minute too early! :)

To my fellow cyclic depressives: Thanks for sharing - and - get out of my head - even I don't really like to live here!! ;)
(sandwiches you say? Interrrrrrrresting . . . . . ) :)

Same boat here. This is exactly how it happens. Going through it now. My girlfriend noticed it before I did. She said she knew when I first stopped going to the gym, then it was not going and getting my haircuts, then it was spending more or more nights alone, less phone calls to my friends and family. Going to work, waking up got harder every day. Then I just had a full out breakdown, panic/anxiety/tears. It's awful

Now I'm down in it. Called a therapist, called my doctor. Started some meds. Then you start trying to climb out. It doesn't happen fast, you just wish you could stop feeling this way but you can't. You just can't. Its kind of why I come in here, post around a bit, then dissapear for a few days. I'm hopeful things will get better. This has happened to me before, but it was years ago and eventually I did come out of it.

+1...everyone notices it before you do. Another thing I've noticed, about myself in a depressive state is that I sometimes almost like it. Not, like it, but wierdly, it's my comfort zone. Keep in mind I've been depressed since I was young, something like 8-9 years old. I would lie in bed and WORRY about what would happen if my grandpa, grandma or mother died...and I would work myself into what I know now was depression. I was actually diagnosed when i was 19, put on antidepressants..(which were not exactly like the ones today).
Anyway, I've been there so often, sometimes I didn't want to crawl out of the pit...I knew this feeling and it was soooo much effort to change it. I guess it's similar to a woman who lives with abuse....that is HER normal.
Luckily, it isn't nearly as bad as it used to be. The episodes are much less intense and MUCH shorter lived. I think my periods of sadness are now just normal ups and downs.

Take care Ian. It's a process, but one you can come through.

I've also noticed that my "depressed" friends have a very dry, dark sense of humor too. When we're "normal" we're great fun to be around.
