you are in our thoughts too, UV.... hang in there

Hi guys,
I hope everyone enjoyed vapercon. My mom had a relapse and has been hospitalized for the past week. Thus I have not been here and have tons of catching up to do. I was so looking forward to hearing about vapercon and seeing the pics but heavier things got in the way.
Hope I can get my hands on a sidewinder soon...oh and cobalt. Not sure how much I will be here in the coming time but know that i miss you all. Don't forget about me!
Congrats, Mike on the house! I sure hope VC went well for you.
Anyone know when VapeBash is and anyone planning on going?

congrats Mrs. JunkyRock.... I know I don't have to speak for everyone else here since we all feel the same, but I am glad for you ;) now the authorities need to catch the dirt-bag perp (if it was at all possible lol)

First off thank you all for the many switch fixes on the Cobalt. I have sanded and sanded and have a totally clean post and post top (would still love a way to get into the threads). I also sanded the top of the screw. My switch is now down to .1 ohm resistance (it was at .3-.4 before) It still gets a touch warm when firing but fires really well now.

I also ohm'd out my coil (Mike did this for me at VC and it was too high so he took off a wrap) I hadn't checked it since but it was at 2.0 which is too high for a mechanical imo. So I tried taking another wrap off but borked it up so I remade a coil on the existing wick. Went with just 2 wraps and it was at 1.5 which sounded perfect to me. I fired it up, it took just a couple pokes to get everybody firing evenly, dropped some juice on it and got plumes. I was thrilled... finally. (I know Mike patience is not my strong suit) It worked quite well for an hour or so then I was getting dry hits.

So, now the coil reads at 1.2-1.3 ohms. Is this too low? I am also having wicking issues with the fat wick in it. I am unfamiliar with fat wicks. My ZAP I have always used the skinny wick it came with. It seems to wick well then not well. I have tried a variety of angles but seem to go from no wicking to flooding. Once it floods it wicks well for a little while then stops and burns red hot.

The TLDR: With a fat wick and 2 wraps should the top be open or pinched? And will it wick fast enough to support 2 wraps at 1.25 ohms?

I personally wouldn't do anything less than a 3 wrap, but that's me. The key to a fat wick is making the hole the same size as a skinny wick, if you make a huge hole your gonna have flooding issues. But it sounds like you could possibly be heating the wick faster than the juice can cool it. Easiest way to make a fat wick for virgin wick rollers is to take a zen 400 premade wick and wrap a zen 325 or 400 premade wick on top of it (unroll it and roll it back over the 400 wick).

UV, adding your mom (and family) to a long list of prayers. Tyb, keep us posted on how your dad is doing!

On another note, ZAP is going strong!! Loving it on the Provari! No way to take a picture too darn much vaper to see anything else! Have a lead on a 2nd ZAP, in a week or two!

The fat wick in it was the one that was installed in the Cobalt when I got it.

thanks again everyone...other than work, it's been a nice and peaceful night @ home....wishing the GF was here though  ...I found out today her mother was finally put into an assisted living home... she doesn't think her ma will be around much longer, alzheimers and emphysema are now really taking their toll. once that situation is over and a couple other neccessities are taken care of, I'll finally be helping her pack up and move here...

Missed Woodstock, sounds like it's coming back around :)

The finish on those is no finish at all... just bead blasted... and they WILL get scuffed up. My advice is to scuff them up to give them character. The whole idea of the MFA was an unfinished knock-around PV that will get scarred and marred as life takes it places... in fact, at the next gathering of the Zens we're gonna have a contest for the MFA with the MOST unique "character" .

hmmm... gives me an idea... next summer we need to have a gathering at my new house... I have room for one of those big ol tents... camping... the whole deal... The price of admission is you have to own a House of Hybrids APV or ATTY... i'm gonna do it! I'm thinking timeline of late june

blah...nothing on the 'tube' tonight....maybe I'll throw in a dvd instead :p yea that sounds good...I've had the original "Kolchak: the Night Stalker" series for a couple years now and haven't watched it yet lol. it used to be one of my favorites as a kid ;)

There's really nothing on the tube worth watching anymore. The last program I halfway followed was Stargate SG-1, but it went off on some weird direction, then went away. I've been checking out Revolution the last couple of weeks, it looks like it might be worth following...
