So there's a dilemma...

The Sidewinder update kits are ready to ship and I was going to put them on the site tonight.

Then I got a text message from a vaper that I trust a whole lot that informed me that in the chats some jerks were conspiring to get together and claim the parts... even though they don't actually have the PVs... there was mention of selling them in the classifieds before I could get them to the right people.

Is this what we have become? A community of vapers that has become so hated by others that outsiders intentionally steal parts that are being made available to help people get their devices running correctly? This is outrageous.

Unfortunately, I cannot afford to have that happen. I know the real names of most people in this thread so I can be certain that SOME of the parts will get where they belong, but I sold quite a few to complete strangers and I want them to have a good experience as well.

I need suggestions from you folks that frequent this thread on how to best administer these parts so we can get them to the people that need them, without shipping expensive machined parts to idiots that are just out to hurt me.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Zen, that's a tough one for sure. I mean you know some of us and some who bought so that's not a problem. It's the people you don't know. If you had everyone send them in for you to do the replacement then you can be sure, unfortunately it's more work for you. Recieving SW and re-shipping out SW. But aside from that I don't know of any solution. Sending to those you know and trust and asking others to send them in brings up issues of fairness.

No idea. I'm sure nobody wants to send them back, though...

ian i think you hit the nail on the head there the only way for people you don't know is to send them back for the upgrade

This is utterly ridiculous and horrible...

My thought is, did you sell more than one or two to anyone? Could you limit the purchase to 2 of the kits?

Or perhaps (and i know this would suck), but could you have each person who bought one contact you? That way you could see if anyone was getting more than their share, AND you woudl be able to tell if you are getting more responses than there are Sidewinders out there.

I dont know how you sold them (credit or cash) but you could link it up that way too (if they paid in check or credit card)

Just my thoughts off the top of my head. Plenty smarter peopel than me.

I can email you a picture of me holding my SW.
Now.... I know you know who I am, and that I purchased one.
And I suppose even photos of that nature can be faked, but it was an idea.

Limit of one per household?
Was anyone you didn't know allowed to purchase more than one?
Damn, that's a conundrum.

That would work for sure, but I know who MOST of you are...

Let me toss out an idea...

How about making it so that if I don't recognize who they are, I request a photo of the person with the PV. If they cannot provide a photo, they can post a deposit which will be refunded when I get parts back from them... in ALL cases I have people give me their forum screen names.

Thoughts?

Oh, here's an idea!!! You can ask us to send the package insert from the sidewinder tube. Only the owners have them. People can keep their PV's and you know who has a real one!

The paper that says SideWinder on it?
Excellent idea Ian. Much better than my emailed picture one.
