But have you ever cooked dinner, setting the oven timer and an hour later go to eat dinner when the timer goes off, only to find no food in the oven? I HAVE...Gaaawd. That one iced the cake.

Or look all over the house, tearing apart EVERYTHING to find your PV because you're having a nic fit, only to find it in your hand or pocket?

Or look all over for your sunglasses you just had in your hand, only to be told they're on top of your head?

Getting old is highly overrated, though better than the alternative. ;)

uuummmm YEAH !!!!!

on all but the sunglass (the headaches dont like anything on my head)
and sumtimes the food is in the oven but uumm has only marinated LoL

Yeah... for those watching at home... this isn't an approved work-around... if it's working for him, fine... but that 4K ohms he read is at room temp... when it heats up that can drop dramatically.

I knew it was just a matter of time until it was suggested.

The result here is caused by opening up the wick hole... increasing flow.

There are better ways to increase flow, and it would be far better to develop those skills than to punt like this.

This work-around he has mentioned has been done by several folks in mesh/coil land, and it almost always results in a far less stable, and far less predictable set of results. Yes... it produces vapor... but there the majority of the owners of the Zenesis PV have been able to produce COPIOUS amounts of vapor without resorting to this short cut that almost always leads to harsh and unpredictable performance, in my own experience.

Once again... This is NOT an approved work-around, and you do it at your own risk if you choose to do so.

The insulator is a good thing and does indeed help to produce consistent results with a Genisis atomizer. The larger wick diameter does help produce more vapor, but is really not needed as a small wick can also produce tons of vapor.

The major things in my experience, to make a Genisis perform well (this includes the Zenisis) are as follows.

1. Keep the top and bottom of the wick hole open
2. Do not let the wick touch the bottom of the tank
3. Do not kink the wick as it will definitely impede juice flow
4. Completely oxidize the wick top to bottom
5. The wick should fit snug, not tight in the wick hole
6. Correct ALL shorts before vaping. Take your time and do this right becuase it is one of the most important factors to getting good flavor.
7. Glowing leads are not a huge problem if there are no shorts and they are just glowing because the cap is off so there is not enough airflow to keep them cool while you are looking at it
8. The position of the air inlet hole is CRITICAL. It has a very big effect on vapor production, TH and overall taste. Always start with the hole directly in front of the wick and adjust very slowly from there if you need more TH
9. It seems trivial to boil the mesh if you are heating it with a torch but trust me on this. Boiling is an important step in mesh preparation. It removes manufacturing debris and oil and greatly reduces the metallic taste some people experience when breaking in a new wick.
10. Take your time and do all of this properly. This will ensure that you have a pleasant vaping experience from your Genisis mod. I have many of them and these tips apply to each and every one of them.

This is not a just an expansion of Zen~'s post more than a reply, sorry it was so long :)

Hope this helps any of you out there having issues.

Happy modding guys and gals and Happy World vaping Day!! ;)

You're right. Just burned out two wires in the last 15 minutes. They both burned between the top screw and the first wrap.

Looks like I'm going to have to leave my Zenesis alone for a while. Got to go to Argentina.

Then I'll practice some more with wicks and wraps.

OK Zen how about a bigger hole and bigger grommet? I wonder if I can slightly increase the inner diameter of the grommet with a warm punch? I know I unnecessarily tinker with stuff. : )

A better way would be with a precision drill bit. This will increase the diameter all the way through without warping the tube as it cools. It will also produce a more uniform hole. :)

I have been guilty of all the above at one time or another, lol :)

Hello Zenfidels,

Been travelling and haven't been able to keep up with the thread.

Got a question or two about my Standard.

I'm still using the wick that Zen set it up with. I'm using Prothol juice which is pretty thin I think.

Problem is it doesn't wick really well. The coils get red hot. I've put some drops of juice on the coils then it works pretty good for a minute or two.

Seems to wick a little better if I hold it sideways or upside down.

Should I make a new wick? When the coils glow red hot then it tastes bad.

Other question is that if I have a pretty full juice chamber and lay it down for a few hours, most of the juice leaks out into the cap. I think through the vent hole.

Anything to do about that? Do you guys keep it in a cup standing up or something? It will stand on the switch end, but it's wobbly and I sure don't want this beautiful thing to fall over.

Thanks guys.

Options for how to rest your Zenesis: Until I got my new PV holders...PV Holders

I was rolling up and folding paper towels to lay the Zenesis at an angle with the atty higher than the bottom. If you have the air hole lined up with the wick, zen~ logo goes UP. Then the fill hole is up with an air bubble over it and doesn't leak. Just find something to prop it up at an angle. Or use a stand of some kind. I LOVE the stands I bought! They are perfect to have next to me and that's where the Zenesis now goes when I have to put it down.

It wouldn't hurt anything to try a new wick and coil! Here's what I did yesterday...I took one of zen~'s pre-rolled wicks, carefully/gently unrolled it, took a MEDIUM paperclip straightened out nice and even and re-rolled the wick around the paperclip. Keep rolling it through your finger and give a little bit of an outward pull as you roll. That will "stretch" the wick so it's thin enough to fit in the hole...test the fit as you roll. You want it snug, but not tight.

After you have rolled it to fit, put the wick, WHILE IT'S STILL ON THE PAPERCLIP, into the hole and tank. LEAVE THE PAPERCLIP ON TO ROLL YOUR COIL. Having the rigid paperclip inside the wick, made the coil wrapping VERY EASY. I rolled a five wrap coil instead of a four wrap and LOVE it at five.

After you have wrapped your perfect coil, remove the paperclip, snip your Positive and Negative excess Kanthal, trim the top of the wick even to the positive post and test it with an empty tank. Adjust the coil wires until you have them all firing the same brightness. Drip PG or your juice on it as you test it. Fill the tank and BE AMAZED!

Be sure to watch zen~'s coil basics video too!

Ideally, would you boil the wick before you roll it, before you oxidize it, after you oxidize it, or does it matter?

Sounds to me like it's time to clean or replace the wick. Over time the wick will become clogged with gunk. I clean them by re-oxidixing with a torch (the first heating cycle under the torch for cleaning I let it get red and keep it glowing for about 30 seconds to a minute if it doesn't clean off quickly) then quench in water 5x, then drip juice on wick and light, 5x there too then re-insert wick and re-coil. Works like new again.

To re-establish good wicking I tip the PV over at a 45 degree or steeper angle and then press the button. The coils will glow red but after about a minute, all of a sudden the juice starts flowing fast through the wick and will actually start feeding faster than the coil can burn it. The coils will stop glowing while the button is still pressed and the juice will start dripping from the wick.

Put the cap back on and enjoy a good couple of weeks of vaping. When it gets dirty again, do the same process over again. After you have done it successfully the whole process will take about 5-10 minutes. Well worth the couple of weeks of great vape :)

I don't have a blow torch, but I have a gas stove. Is a gas burner's flame hot enough to oxidize and clean a wick? Will it take too long?

Or should I buy a blow torch? If so do you recommend I get a particular model?

Boil before you oxidize or do anything at all with it.

The burner will work at a pinch but it's a whole lot more convenient to have a torch, I picked up some creme brulee thing off Amazon for like $20 that works a treat.

It is definitely hot enough and does a fine job of it. I know more than one person who uses a stove to do this:)
