what the heck happened here today!!!!!

so, btw for those who have a "tap plastics" in their town. I called today to try to buy some tubing for a temporary tank in case I break mine (which I hope I do not). I want to use just the glass, but until zen has extras I can buy the plastic will be the backups.

They will make me 4 tanks for about 4.00 (total for all four). I pick them up later (pre-cut) and will let all of you know how they look and work.

missed everyone today during the blackout. :)

Yes that is a short, they should all glow evenly together. Probably shorted on the wick, take your syringe and move them a little and try it again.

honestly so far this happens every time with me.

I literally cannot get them to glow at the same time as I pulse. I have re-wrapped a couple. I can get them mostly uniform, but not totally uniform all at once. I move them up and down but still not all at once at exactly the same time.

here is one question/Issue I would like to ask about.

I get leakage from my mini tank. It seems to be seeping up through the o-ring. I have taken the tank off, cleaned and put it back on dry. It still seems to happen a little bit. I am just wondering if it is something I am doing or if that is somewhat normal.

another question. How do all of you travel with these? I want to be able to carry all day and am curious how one best takes them with them so that you do not have them leak. Obviously keeping them upright sounds like it would work best, but of course that is not always possible.

The cases (both big and small are amazing) but would not keep them upright.

Curious to hear from those who have had them how you do it.

No matter how much I shift my coils up / down the wick, I just can't seem to get the top coil to not glow up into a hotspot. I think it is because of the coil not being tight enough around the wick in the last wrap. If I coil one tight enough, the wick starts touching the positive pole. Anyone have any suggestions for me?

My mini has absolutely no leaks yet. Could it be a damaged oring?

You can lay it down as long as you ensure the intake hole is facing upwards. So I put it in a case that way and make sure I keep the case with the right side facing up.

Maybe try putting some PG or some of your juice on the o-rings...just a drop, to create a seal before you put the tank back on. My tank has never leaked. I have seen that suggestion on youtube for cartos and tanks though. Add a little juice to the o-ring to help with a seal. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

I've never traveled with my Zenesis, so I'm no help there. I'll know Saturday though. I'll probably pack it empty and fill it when I get to Chicago and Empty it before coming home.

Keep running your syringe up and down the coil...lightly until they all glow at the same time. Be sure to check behind the coil too.

any danger of hurting the coils by glowing them too much during the "checking out" process?

sometimes this takes a while and the coils are glowing for a long time.

Pulse the switch on and off. Run the syringe up and down the coil, get them all lighting, release switch, turn back on, see if they all fire together...if not, rinse and repeat. Keep doing that until they all glow together. Pulsing the switch will help.

From what I have read, it takes a lot to pop a kanthal coil, but the pros will chime in. I'm no pro, that's for sure!

I haven't popped one yet and I fiddled with it a lot until it started working right.

Any word if anymore payment notices went out from Zen?

I still haven't got anything.......

Maybe you should PM him. He said he requested payment from a bunch of people who never paid him. He was going to be offering those APVs up for sale if payment wasn't received by Wednesday...yesterday. PM him. Maybe yours got lost in the email? Or you are in the next 53 he's still waiting on parts for?

Hit it for a few seconds....release....hit again for a few seconds...release....

It shouldn't hurt the coil...since the kanthal is rated to about 2400 degrees or so....something you should never get to anyway. A short will indeed pop a coil, but is usually in one of the gaps between the wick and posts.
