oh yeah,

I picked up the temporary poly tanks today. Super cheap. Here is the issue.

They are the right interior diameter, but the walls are too thick. I am guessing zen got the right wall width on his?

He will be able to answer this question better I guess. Vicsan, the tubing you ordered will probably have the same issue.

It's all in the wrap. It's all ...in ....the wrap.

So yesterday, I wrapped a fiver and BAM! this thing is wicking like a fountain. So much so, I had to pinch it off.

The problem I have now is that the vapor is too cool. LOL. I can't win.

Now that it's wicking like a straw, I'm going to give a four-wrap another go.

Part of my problem is I just need to learn to identify and fix shorts. So, from what I can gather, you just poke at the shorts until they go away? What causes a short? Maybe if I understood it better, I could fix it better. And... a short is just a spot in the wire that isn't heating properly?

What happens after you oxidize the wick, is when wrapping the coil you may scrape off a spot or two causing a short, or just didn't get that spot oxidized enough. So you aren't poking the coil...you are adjusting them up and down to get them on a well oxidized spot. As you vape...you will be adding another layer on the wick and coil from burnt juice.

ok.

so I have read every fix there is. I also want to preface this by saying that i am neither frustrated (well maybe a little) or planning on giving up BUT.....

No matter what I try to do, I cannot get all the coils to fire at once. I have wrapped and re-wrapped (I know you do not want me to do this) and just cannot seem to get them all glowing at the same time. I have poked and prodded.

One of the main issues seems to be the very bottom coil. I get it wrapped around the wick well, but when the second coils gets wrapped around, It seems to lift the bottom one a little. I have tried holding it in place among other things, but just cannot get it right for some reason.

that is all for now......

push it back down ya can move all the coils one by one towards the top or bottom or all of them but you just need to move them till there even when there glowing there easy to move all over

To all of you "whistlers"...it's not beer in that tank....so don't try to suck the guts out of it!

Nice easy smooth drags is all it takes. Too hard of a pull can actually pull too much air across the coil over cooling it, which will reduce the vapor because the coil isn't being allowed to get hot enough to burn the juice. ;)

Ob have you tried taking your mini torch and heating about 6 inches of the kanthal until it glows before wrapping a coil? It makes the kanthal a little less springy and a little more compliant..

What's the OD on the tanks you got today? The tubing I bought: OD 1" x ID 3/4" and the wall measure 1/8" thick.

So your tank overhangs the edge of the Zenesis?

Zenesis Standard #0092 received.

Been playing* around with it for a bit. I've poked and prodded, tipped and tilted, adjusted and readjusted... Shorts have been an issue. Wicking has been an issue. Fortunately I have my trusty dual 26500 box mod to tide me over while I deal with the issues (all n00b related).

Frustration is starting to set in. No, not because of the Zenesis. I'm sure it'll be fine once I get it all figured out. All buying a new house related. I swear I've signed the same documents thirty-some-odd times in the last few days. It's maddening I tell you!

When it works, ie not a dry or metallic hit, it's just "OK." More or less underwhelmed at this point, but I also realize I just haven't figured it all out yet. I'm sure it will come in time.

Things I've discovered that really bug me... I've never had or used a mechanical PV. It would appear my pinky does not like bottom buttons. I've tried the fist trick and adjusted the switch for the lightest and shortest throw, but it still doesn't agree with them. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I've broken both of them on multiple occasions. Sometimes, it's just uncomfortable; any other time, it's downright painful.

A man visits his doctor. He says, "Doctor, it hurts when I use my pinkies to fire my new Zenesis PV." The doctor replies, "Then don't use your pinkies."

I've also recently noticed a bit of "arcing" between the switch and the main body. Not sure if that's cause for concern. Only noticed when I went into a darker room to watch the coil glow. Yes, I'm using the AW IMR 18650 (1600 mAh)...

The pictures really don't do the Zenesis justice. It's one fine looking PV.

I was wondering if I could use the torch? I have been using a lighter and it is not that great.

yes, it is the 1/8th thickness that is the issue. It hangs over. They told me at tap plastics that it is the only thickness it comes in. I am sure that is not the case. You will see. it is thicker than the glass.

as a temp fix, it will be fine. it is not as sexy as zen will want.

Finally home to unpack my standard! After a day of ....... and not home yet, I arrive to find a soaked and somewhat abused first class mail package. After my ... day I was thinking U S P S WHAT HAVE YOU DONE. I tear open the package, snap open the case to find a perfect condition Zenesis standard #53. Whew heart slows back down.

I settle in to spend some quality time with my new score. Its finish is glorious, reflecting light in vertical stripes. Subtle horizontal brush strokes underneath provide a touch of contrast. This finish is the fingerprint destroyer. I've touched this Zenesis ......but it will never tell. 10 minutes later, realization that I am just looking at this beauty and its time to move on.

Fiddle less, learn shades of red and orange and how to poke them to become the same have been the theme recently. So its time to let excitement take over. The battery goes in. Those threads feel and sound like magic. Pressing the button smooooothhhhhh fires right up. Poke two coils and things are looking good, but what do I know. Who cares its time for juice in this tank. The quartz sparkles at me, looking all sexy, just to let me know it's ready. Some primer drops, some burning in, some lorderos tilt and fire. Take a vape and its GOOOD!.

At this point I am getting no dry hits and big vapor. Flavor is still a little small but I expect that will come in more with use.

I am completely satisfied with my Standard. Exceeds expectations. Thank YOU Zen!!!!!

Now, off to finish this nic coma.

Okay. Thanks. As long as it holds liquid, I don't really care. :)
