Seriously, how can there be any at all?

There is no smoke, it's a vapor that happens to look like smoke that is gone almost instantly, there is no smell, no ashes, no butts. Nothing. Nada.

Yet I am reading about possible bans of these too?!

Is our society going through such a shift that anything that even resembles a cig is shunned and treated like the plague?

I just don't get it...especially in bars, the last refuge for the smoker.

Most of the political resistance is about money and has nothing to do with public health. It never has. tobacco tax money is dropping fast and the governements are more addicted to taxes than we were/are to nicotine.

Was it in the late 1990s that a lot of states sued the tobacco industry and won billions of $ to be paid to the states over 20 years. The Wall Street financial guys went to the states and talked them in to taking loans for pennies on the dollar to get the money all at once and then just turn over the tobacco payments to the Wall Street guys. No one beleived a better alternative like e-cigs would ever come along, so tobacco taxes were a sure thing. Now the states owe all this money and with tobacco revenues plummeting, they want to bann e-cigs to keep the taxes coming in to pay the loans.

Personal resitence comes from three sources:
a) ex-smokers that quit who did not have e-cigs and think we are cheating. They suffered all the pain of quiting and we should too.
b) anti's that are also in it for the money. If people really did give up smoking, their organizations would have nothing to fight against and would loose their fundings, donations and cushy jobs.
c)Control freaks that want to control everyones elses lives to confrom to their beliefs regardless of who it hurts. These are the dips that see our vapor in the air and start having fake coughing fits. The ones that get in your face and yell at you. You can't say a word back to them, because their perfume is so strong you can't breath.

Pretty much what SheerLuck said. In some states the government makes 7x more profit than the tobacco company does on a pack of cigarettes. In this recession/depression, states need all the money they can get.

The ones that really get my blood going are SheerLuck's type B: The ones who go around preaching that they have our best interest at heart, but are only motivated by greed. I would go on an epic face-punching spree if I could ever get them all into one room.

I always get a kick out of folks just discovering the anti's.

The US has been catering to the anti's for years.

Vaping is just a tiny blip on their radars. If they were serious they would have an actor and actress going to visit lawmakers spewing whatever lines they are fed and acting like experts. Community leaders would be organizing demonstrations. The PV is something the anti-set wants to go away quietly.

Don't worry. Most US citizens accept whatever an anti spews and thank them for it. If you enjoy anything in this country, there is someone against it and willing to work to regulate it for your protection and for the sake of children. Nothing new. Freedom is scary to most. It means they have to make choices and live with that choice. Many cannot abide with the concept they are responsible for themselves.

If you are not fighting for your freedom constantly, you are giving them exactly what they want.

I get such a kick because I've been fighting my whole life and notice most only have a glimmer of an idea when they come for them and only when they come for them because going after the other guy is OK.

And while you have some fight left in ya' could you also help me get rid of these stupid kill levers on my mowers?

That one gets my blood boiling... got into a nearly physical altercation over that with a local idiot.... of course what can you expect from someone who started the "discussion" by announcing to the bar that I was pumping vaporized AntiFreeze into the air. I really couldn't have said it better, so I'll just restate it:

1 Politicians - who depend on the sale of tobacco for outrageous tax revenues. Loss of tax revenue means loss of power, which is their only concern.

2 Tobacco Companies - Now if Phillip Morris had been SMART, they would have announced that starting in 2014, they would no longer be selling tobacco and would only produce e-cigarette supplies and juices. But of course they'd rather remain the Dinosaur that they are selling a deadly product and raking in as much cash as possible.

3 Pharmaceutical Companies who stand to loose billions when it is realized that Nicoderm, Chantix and the like are all obsolete and there's a better more effective way to give up smoking. Proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they don't really care about a person's health. It's all about the Wilsons. (Woodrow Wilson appears on the $100,000 Gold Certificate which has not been used for many decades. 4 As a society, we have been trained for decades to be offened. We have developed a knee-jerk reaction when it comes to personal choices or even free speech. This Republic is slowly giving way for true democracy which tantamounts to mob rule. A democracy is two wolves and a sheep trying to decide what's for dinner. This nation was set up to safeguard the minority from the majority. And we are loosing it bit by bit, day by day.

This started in late 2009 and was passed and signed in under 3 months, there about. Not sure who paid off the sponsor of the bill, but this being NJ, someone got paid.

Oh, that's right, it was to "protect the children". Like some kid is going to pony up $50.00 for a kit and put up with fiddling around with carts, battery's, carto's etc.

oh and don't forget that most internet sites require a credit card too I see the point about kids being attracted to the flavours(my kids often remark on how good it smells) but after having a discussion about nicotine and why I have chosen to vape they understand that it is for adults only (like alcohol, cigarettesa and coffee) I really think the government is stupid, really if they are going to be readily available we all know that they will put a health warning on it and inflate the price ten fold, it'll be more like $150 per kit! They will try to regulate it just like tobacco and alcohol, kids are going to have to decide hmmmm i-pod or e-cig come on get real!
