2 1/2 weeks in and ive found out that vaping has disloged my sence of restraint as i feel as ive gone from been rather restrained to wanting to tell everyone and his dog wheather or not they want to listen or not what a great bit of kit the PV is.
I have found that people see it as a dark art and ive sold my soul that is from the smokers ive spoke to the non smokers see me as a rather sad case who has swapped one bad habit to another .
The smokers as said "this dark and unholy cult i have now been sucked into" do seem to me to be easly converted from me been "unclean and a bit of a nutcase" to almost a supplier of goods 3 riva kits ordered and a posibility of another 5-10 may be on the way ,it seems to me that most smokers want to stop but dont know how or what to do they have tried the patch, the gum ,cold turkey etc etc but no good even with the support of others
its a great shame that on the whole that the "PV scene" in the UK is very hush hush almost like a sub cult of smoking on the bright side i saw a full page add in suppliment in a well known sunday paper for e cigs not the best but it looks like its a start i suppose
i advised the smokers that it will give them a better chance as it keeps the hands busy as well as all the other benifits (so many) ive pointed a few to this site as well allthough some are still trying to sort out electronic calculators and still prefer an abucus...not tec minded but were willing to try anything to stop or even cut down ive found in my case went from a PAD+ to 0 in 5 days may not be the same but all helps
The non smokers still see it as a discusting habit .....once advised how and what it is some have said "but your still smoking " AAAAHHH i guess these people will never change some however said "lets have a go"?????? i advised them not to be so stupid its not like quite a few of us have a choice i advised this is my 2nd chance and i was not going to destroy there 1st chance i dont know how a non smoker would react to the curse of the "Habit" would not like to start someone on the coffin nails

still thats me at two plus weeks wondered if any one else has had same reaction and how do people you speak to see the PV?:D

Pretty common reaction, IMO...... Non-smokers, I don't even bother, they do not understand... Even with Smokers such as my own husband - he likes that I don't cough anymore but thinks e-cigs are "stupid" and refuses to try something "artificial" as he calls it. Stated before that yes, I don't smoke cigis anymore but all I did was trade one habit for another (cigis for my Lavatube, which is permanently attached to my hands, much to his dismay)........ So, I don't let it bother me much and just enjoy vaping. I know I'm doing myself and my health a favor and that's all that counts.

Most of my family and friends are fine with it and prefer me vaping as opposed to smoking. My step-sister is still a smoker, but uses an ecig occasionally. I'm trying to get her a better set up to try to sway her towards vaping more. Strangers seem to fit into three categories. 1) They have no idea what's in my hand, possibly thinking it's an illegal substance. 2) They think I'm smoking and it upsets them. 3) Either they think I'm smoking and are fine with it, or they know I'm using an ecig - either way, they seem content being around me or walking past me.

Wife/ family extremely supportive. Friends also very supportive as are my Dr, Dentist and Surgeon. Haven't had any bad vibes from the general public not that it matters. In public I find the non smokers that are supportive and genuinely interested are those that have a loved one or friend that's a smoker and are extremely interested in the PV asking many questions. It is these non smokers that congratulate and wish me the best of luck. Generally I find it's the close minded that are most skeptical but I never did have any time for those type of people even when I was smoking analogs. Gotta go with the flow :D

Edit: It's hard to do but I restrain myself unless someone is really interested. I LOVE helping other people BUT not to the point where frustration sets in. A charity I'm involved in has a saying..."We give a hand up and not a handout"...there has to be a willingness without any pressure.

Some see it as "switching one habit for another", which I guess it is. I'm fine with that.

Others think it looks silly and I catch them smirking and looking away. I'm fine with that, too.

Some others want to quit smoking, but don't want to try vaping (with or without nicotine). I'm fine with that, I tried many times and different ways to quit smoking. Maybe they will be successful. That's great!

For the hard-core who have tried every other way to quit, I think it is worth a try for them. Even a reduction has many benefits but not nearly as big a benefit as not smoking at all. As with anything else, you have to be ready and willing or you have no chance of success!

And I do think of it as a success!! It's Great to "Break Free"!!

I'm Relaxing and Enjoying!

eh eh, same here!

and the faces they make when I say I have no intention to quit vaping... LOL.
apparently keeping on vaping does not qualify me as an EX-smoker. too bad.

as of late I prefer this explanation, as someone else said: I've swapped a bad vice with a nice hobby!

keep on vaping!

A lot of people immediately think I am using vaping as a means to quit....they see it and say, "oh, you're quitting, good for you." Then I say, "I've already quit smoking, now I use this." To which they say, "well, how long do you use that before you quit?" SMH.
