"Do Vapers Hate USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, "

I suspect that thread might have a whole different flavor than this one!

Nah, we don't hate those guys, they bring me my precious.

I only hate ants and ANTZ. I hate fire ants b/c they hurt when they bite, are very aggressive and like to go into my pantry and eat my Oreos. I hate carpenter ants because they are like big termites and can destroy the wood framework of my house. I hate Raspberry crazy ants because they come in masses and just run around all over the place. I hate ANTZ b/c they make crazy little noises and try to steal my precious and my freedoms away.

I fully agree with tinkrrrbell and supermarket.

How silly would it be to look down on smokers? Heck, I was a heavy smoker myself for 35 years.
And as to forcing others to do things that they do not want... ey... what is our opinion on the attempted forcible ban / "regulation" of vaping again? ey?

I tolerate others, the way they are.
And I expect the same tolerance of others towards me.
Period.

(and if others think they can f** with me and stuff their nonsense down my throat and even attempt to force me to do as they say... well.. let's just say that a very peaceful person can turn into something completely different if attacked *evil grin* )

I don't think he is a troll, because I have seen enough examples on THIS FORUM ALONE where vapers will put down smokers.

I've seen a guy post on here asking how to make his girlfriend quit cigarettes, because she won't "listen" to him. Instead of letting her make her own choice, he had been trying to force her to quit and vape. Not cool.

I've seen people on here talk about how disgusting other smokers look to them, and how much they hate being around smokers now that they vape. While I SOMEWHAT understand this.....the way they phrased this made it seem like they feel they are better than smokers.

Those are just 2 examples of many.

It seems a LOT of people who vape start to look down on those who smoke cigarettes still - I think that is absurd. Most of us were ex-smokers....and we certainly didn't enjoy others looking down on us.

Your concern that vapers are looking down at and trying to force their wills upon smokers is the exact reason why I started this thread. I read the same exact argument in a blog and as I argued in that blog, I have not seen this attitude or felt that the community at large is loathsome toward smokers. Granted there have been a few people that have made snide comments and one (1) that sought assistance to force his wife to move to vaping, but reread the tread. Many people posted in support of his spouse and advised that he was forcing his will on her. I guess it all depends on how you look at it, but things like this are not "A" typical and should not be used to characterize the entire community. What is typical in what I've seen here is that there is support for individualism for a persons right to choose to smoke or vape, or both.

It is unfortunate that you are taking any of these instances personally and I've see no personal attacks on anyone. I believe this would be against the forum rules and the monitors would have flagged them quickly. Trolling is not allowed. You can read from the posts in this thread, that nobody says they hate "smokers", we as smokers are dealing with our addiction the best we can and the experience is and always will be a personal one. How I feel as a smoker, that no longer smokes but vapes, is my feelings. We all share our experience with each other just like other forums share their feelings and experiences about their interests, whatever they are. It is a liberating feeling to be able enjoy my nicotine fix indoors and walk around in public without being corralled into the smokers box. I can see where smokers might be a little more then jealous about that, especially since the news media is working hard to equate the two as the same.

It is beyond frustrating to find someone, claiming to be a vaper, posting negative comments on a blog that is supporting e-cigarettes and providing a valid argument to the general public in our defense. It will never be to our benefit to bash vapers on a blog during a time when we are, as a group, being singled out the same way we as smokers are. Vaping does not have the same properties as burned tobacco, but we are experiencing the same attitude as though we are burning tobacco. I do not see where the vaping community can rally around tobacco as a means to support ourselves. There is just no way I can do that, because vaping is nowhere near as dangerous as smoking tobacco but at the same time I will not stand in the way of my own right to smoke tobacco if I so choose to. :2c: + :2c:

I started smoking a few a day after hitting a rough spot 7 weeks in cigarette free. During those 7 weeks I can't recall hating people because they smoked. I was/am one and know the addiction those d*** things have over us. Hopefully one of these days I can say my final good bye to cigarettes and be done with them for good.

Think that person was just wanting to argue.

The only thing that gets me about "smokers" is when they ask, of course I'm all enthusiastic and tell them about it. I like to think I've honed my "skills" on promoting vaping, I keep it short and simple- include that I smoked 30 years, quit that many times and never lasted a day without. I add that I went on the patch, the gum, hypnotism, you name it.. nothing worked. Then I found vaping.. and now actually prefer it over smoking.. it tastes better, I don't have my smoker cough anymore.. etc..

Anyways, what gets me is when after hearing that 2-minute pitch, they almost always reply "ehhhh.. well I'm not ready to give up smoking yet...." and don't even give it a chance. I remember how addicted I was.. I was still willing to TRY alternatives. That just frustrates me.. I don't even know why.

I see it as respecting another person's choice to do something that is a legal activity. Tolerance has a condescending connotation towards smokers.

Sorry, I am not a native speaker. I did not mean any condescension towards others.
In German, "Toleranz" and "tolerieren" (verb) means to let others be themselves. dict.cc Wörterbuch :: Toleranz :: Deutsch-Englisch-Übersetzung

I let others be themselves - and I expect the same attitude towards me. That is what I meant.

Everything in its own time my friend...
I was one of those people...
I had no desire or intention to ever quit smoking.

I took up vaping because I was chained to a desk for hours on end at work, and had to sneak a quick outside the offices to grab a smoke...
3+ packs a day I smoked, and it was hurting my performance at work and jeopardizing my job...

I started vaping so I could bear that nic jones and keep working...

Once I started vaping at my desk, the power of the atty and the juice took over, and a few short months later I was smoke free...
I was totally shocked to find that I had basically quit without even realizing it...

It was truly a, "Slap My ... and Call Me Sally!" moment!

Point being, when the time is right, who knows what will come to pass...

I don't have anything against smokers, but I've noticed that some smokers have an antipathy towards vapers. One of my neighbors recently got back into vaping; unfortunately, his mother-in-law (also a neighbor and a smoker) has nothing but snarky, counterproductive remarks to make about vaping. According to her, how we get our nicotine is "too much work" and we "should just go buy a carton and be done with it."

If you ask me hate and racism have become modern day witch hunts. It seems like today if you disagree with anyone that is of the same race as you "must obviously hate them". If you disagree with anyone that is NOT of the same race as you "must be a racist". If someone is ill-informed and you try to inform them, "you are an oppressive hate monger". Seriously this has got to stop. People have their own opinions and their own desires and someone that disagrees with them is not hateful or racist....it's just a difference of opinion...PERIOD. So many people just need to stop buying their panties pre-twisted.

I like that, might use it on occasion ... :D

As for vapers (or anyone else) persecuting smokers, my Dad taught me that a jack*** is his own worst punishment, they can't get away from themselves, but you can ...

Vaping is certainly superior to smoking, but that does not make vapers "superior", just luckier and better informed ...

It's not about how you get your nicotine, it's about how you avoid her inevitable lung cancer!

I have no ill will toward people who still smoke. I'd like to help them make the transition to vaping, if it's something they want to do. Above all else, I believe in personal freedom of choice; in persuasion, not coercion. I've helped many of my friends make the switch, but I did so by letting them try it, so that they could experience how much more pleasant a habit vaping is than smoking. You simply can't do that from hate.

I also enjoy sharing my experience and the awesomeness of vaping. Not everyone that asks about is all that excited about it. I did have someone at a harbor freight ask me if I was using an e-cigarette. All I say was yes and she was saying it on her own that she needed to charge hers up and start using it again. There was no need for me to drive it home. I think that would have been counter productive.

I will intentionally put myself in situations where people are likely to ask about my PV (groups of smokers standing outside, etc...) and at those times I generally pull out some flashy APV (SVD, MVP v2, maybe an eVic) intentionally driving curiosity...

I never initiate the conversation. I wait for one of the smokers to ask... and in a group setting one of them always does...
I ease into the conversation about vaping, letting them drive how much or how little information they want.

However, as the group looks like it's starting to break up, I always whip out a small stealthy device and do a quick lesson on stealth vaping and how that alone could keep them from being banished to the texas heat every time they needed a smoke, even if that's all they used it for... I invite anyone who's interested to email or call me and hand out cards to those who are interested...

But it's the stealth vaping demo that almost always grabs the most attention!

I've, at least partially, converted a lot of smokers... And from my personal experience, I know that in many instances just getting them to start by stealth vaping in the bathroom or at their desk is enough... Then the magic of the atty and the juice takes over and in time will do the rest :D

I like smokers. Some of my best friends are smokers, hell, I was one of them for 20+ years !

Like I tell my young kids, everyone is allowed to make their own mistakes in life. As long as it is not effecting you directly, do not look down on people for their issues.

I vape among the smokers in the wild, and if they ask, I tell them all about it gladly.

I don't hate smokers-I was one for too long and still hve friends/family who smoke...do I wish they'd switch to vaping, ummm yes, definitely after seeing people lost to lung cancer(can't say I still won't get it, but trying to prevent it along with copd etc). can I force them to? no. can or should I nag them? no. I can just put the alternative out there and I can be a bit enthusiastic sometimes. but I do wish I had been exposed to vaping earlier, not too many do so around my neck of the woods, so for those who introduce people keep doing so. I don't like the smell of burning cigs anymore, but that is me. Do I wish they'd stop exhaling the second hand all over me and making me move away discreetly-yeah at times, I just don't like that anymore . am I going to get obnoxious with comments? no. I do plan on buying my mom starter kit for Christmas- for health, I know she won't pursue on own, and really I don't know what else to get her. If she wants to use, she can. I hope and pray she will, but that'll be up to her to try and decide. but nor do I appreciate them ridiculing me and my decisions either.
