Is it just me or do most people vape alot more than you smoked? I was a 1.5 PAD smoker for over 20years. I will be celebrating my 3yr quit date in April and its got me thinking about how and why I vape. This thing rarely leaves my hand. I vape alot. I think its because with a cig. you smoked till it was gone then you crushed it out and went on with your day. With vaping there is no real end point. With a tank I can vape for hours without even having to top it off. Plus I think the great flavors add to wanting to keep vaping. With cigs we had the choice of plain tobacco or menthol. Now we have espresso, strawberry, gooey butter cake and so on. Smoking was a habit whereas with me vaping is for sure a habit BUT its also a hobby I love. I don't plan on ever quitting. I love to vape.Just curious as to how others feel about smoking/vaping habits. Jenn

I vape more than I smoked, but it is almost a kind of apples and oranges thing. You smoke one analog and
wait some time then light up another. Lets say you puff twenty times per cigarette, but I don't count how many
puffs I do on my ecig at all. All I really care about now is keeping my nicotine level above the "craving" point.

It's hard to say that I vape more than I smoke. Of course, that's because I was a 2 1/2 to 3 PAD smoker. :) If I was awake, I was pretty much smoking. I'm the same way with vaping. The only difference is that I do vape a lot more in the evenings than I was smoking. That's only because I can kick back on the couch and vape all the time, versus having to get up and go outside to smoke.

I definitely vape more than I smoked. But there's something just satisfying about being able to flop on my bed, watch TV and vape. (I never let myself smoke inside my house.) Besides, I can vape at my desk at work, which I also couldn't do with analogs... and oh, the flavors...! I'll likely vape indefinitely, whereas I had always known that eventually, I would stop smoking. The difference is that in time, I can get myself to zero nicotine, and then it'll be all about the tasty stuff. :)

I was about 3 PAD smoker. Now I'm about 3ml a day vapor. So I think it's about the same. When I would go out I smoked more often than I now vape. At home it feels like I vape more than I smoked. I usually vape between 7 to 8 watts so I'm not going thru as much eliquid as if I was vaping at higher wattage. I definetly enjoy vaping more than I did smoking. There is much more variety in taste with trying different eliquids. Vaping for me is more fun than smoking and it is for me like a hobby. I typically vape 24mg nic.

I vape a lot more than I smoked. Although I have an analog from time to time, it's minimal. And I usually light up at night, probably because I'm charging my batteries at night. And I've actually reduced my vaping mostly because I don't walk around campus on my way to classes vaping away. I don't know the schools policy towards vaping on campus (we have a no tobacco on campus policy)

This comes up once and a while and I always think about it. I honesty can't figure out if I vape more than I smoked because I treat it so much differently. - I smoked one PAD - actually 19 cigarettes every day - but I did it half a cigarette at a time. 38 times a day, I smoked half a cigarette. That works out to about 2.4 events per hour assuming a 16 hour day. I can't really remember exactly how many drags it took to consume half a cigarette, but maybe 6? Under normal circumstances, I probably pick up a PV half a dozen or so times per hour but usually only take 3 or 4 drags. So, maybe it's about the same?

The other thing that crosses my mind while trying to figure it out is that some days I consume way more juice than others... ~4 ml on an average day, but sometimes almost twice that (high voltage days, at least twice that) but when I was smoking, I *always* used 19 cigarettes per day. The only exception to that 19 per day was the occasions I had to drive more than 300 miles I'd smoke more and days I ended up flying somewhere I'd smoke a lot less.

I most definitely vape more than I smoked. I was a PAD smoker and probably would have smoked a lot more had I been able to afford it. Vaping is way cheaper (especially with DIY juice) and I can do it almost anywhere, so I usually have it pouring out vapor. About the only time I don't is when I overheat an atty or carto and have to give it a little while to cool down. Or I just switch mods and keep going, lol. Vaping is my habit and my hobby and I have no intention of putting it down unless I have to.

I was a PAD smoker and I definitely vape more OFTEN, but with a lot fewer drags then with a cigarette. I'd like to think it evens out to about the same, but it probably doesn't, I probably vape a bit more.

The big question is: Am I taking in more nicotine than before?

I don't know the answer, but my guess is probably a little less based on the following:

a) I've read that you don't absorb as much nicotine per drag as you do with a cigarette. No idea if it's true, but I've seen that statement posted a few times.

b) I find I don't inhale as deeply with vaping leaving absorption primarily in the mouth and nose and not so much in the lungs.

With 46 years of smoking and at 2 1/4 PAD until taking up vaping a little over a year ago, I find myself rarely putting down my PV for any substantial period. The day after I took up vaping and with no analogs, I told another person I thought it was about 80% as satisfying as smoking. I think for me that must still be true today or why would I vape so much? I never seem to quite reach that satiated point, yet I don't want for a cigarette.

I was a PAD smoker as well as many here, I instantly became a chain vaper when I first picked one up. I go through about 3-5 ml a day which does not bother me because it is still cheaper than a pack of analogs here where I live (around $8 give or take). I have a hard time putting my PVs down so I usually vape until I feel the need to put it down, let my head rest for a few minutes and then pick it up again hahaha. So to me my juice consumption does not bother me I'd rather be vaporizing juice than burning tobacco anyway.

Former PAD smoker too. When I'm working I seem to pull out my pv, take a few drags and put it away and only pull it out again when I get a crave. But when I'm home on the computer or watching tv it's glued between my fingers...I probably do vape more than I smoked...but heyyy, when my juice tastes like a cocktail im drinking on a beach in cancun, why the hell not?
