I just made the conscience decision one day after seeing all these "disposables" in stores. After a few of those(while smoking, albeit alot less) I bought a Blu-cig starter kit. I was fairly naive to the whole scene at first. The Blu to me was almost off putting as it didn't seem to give em that "smoking sensation" that I wanted.
About a month into smoking analogs and Blu's I did some research and found out about all the opportunities I was missing out on(along with money I was wasting) by not using a refillable one.
Found a V-pro 650 at a local smoke shop. I LOVED it. I bought some e-juice from a gas station and after I tried flavors I was loving it. Although I was spending more than I would online, I was still spending around 50% less money than if I was still smoking. To me, at first, it was the money saving that turned me on more than the health factors. Sounds silly but me being only 26, this is how I felt.
It's only been in the last few weeks that I discovered all these websites, forums and blogs that offer info and products that make the experience even BETTER. Now that I'm quite a bit more educated on this topic I have ABSOLUTELY NO(NONE ZIP ZILTCH NADA) craving to watch to switch back. I smell analogs and its disgusting. I feel WAY better. I was able to order a 40x10mg sampler of e-juice and a 250ml 3.6 strawberry flavored e-juice along with some empty bottles, droppers and a couple other miscellaneous items for all around 75 bucks.
Now I've done the math. So far all together I've spent around
V-pro 650 kit 40.00$ (Locally)
E-liquid I've boughten locally ~30.00$
V-pro broke(because I'm an idiot) so I replaced it with a cheapo "Clean Cig" from a store 20.00$
My first online order of e-liquid ~80.00$(rounded up for math) After shipping
So 170 bucks.... Seems steep at first, but where I'm at, Camel Menthols or similar brands are roughly 6.25 a pack. I was smoking roughly 1 pack a day, maybe less, but between my habit, my girlfriends and bumming to others thats about right.
So I spent what I would of spent in 1 month(math says just over 28 days) on analogs for enough stuff to last me for QUITE some time This my friend is an investment. Lets not even start talking about health risks later on, trips to the gas station, cloths I'd end up burning, curtains replaced and all the time spent walking outside to smoke a damn cigarette.
I'll have roughly 650ml of e-juice that, based on prior consumption(of lower quality liquids mind you) should last me 65 weeks.... Haha, this is a gross estimate, but the money I'm saving is outrageous.
Granted there will be other expenses, new tanks here and there, a battery or 2, some new gear just to be the cool kid on the block and have a REALLY nice device and whatnot. However you look at it, my expense for analogs was just over 2,100 U$D a year. There is NO way I will spend close to that now!
I guess for me, it was all about the money. I like things, nice things, but I try and live a champagne lifestyle on a kool-aid budget

. All the other stuff that goes along with quitting is just perks.
TL;DR I save a buttload of money by switching from analog to digital.
