How is it accepted in public?

I've done it in restruants, sports bars, doctor's office, hospital, post office, etc. Most people say nothing. Of those who comment or ask me a question, I have gotten 99% positive comments. Perception is reality. If we act like it is just the same as smoking, then it will be perceived as just as dangerous as smoking, as it should be with that manner of vaping.

As a community we need to be respectful propronents of vaping and present an image that vaping is NOT the same as smoking and not harmful to others. Otherwise, we are sending the same message as the "antis".

My rules are outside, I do it, in a bar I do it, in a restaurant I ask and I've never been turned down, in the common area of a mall I do it, in a store depends on my mood. My other rule is I never ever vape anything that resembles a cigarette in public and I never hide what I'm doing. I do not want to be associated with smokers. I do not want to be judged as if I'm a smoker. I do not want to be a person that makes other people think that vaping is similar to smoking and I hope most of you join me.

I've had a few curious looks and a few curious questions. I've never had any negative reactions.

Really though- all I've heard is positive things. Lots of questions.
Most people reply with " I should get one of those" or "I know someone that needs that"

Then I hand them a Puresmoker and Liquid Xpress card ;)

What no ECF cards? j0ker is going to be hurt :p

To the OP. Reaction I get is mostly curiosity or confusion.
Never had a truly "bad" reaction. Well thats not true, one of my mothers friends gasped and told me I was inhaling antifreeze but we cleared that up pretty quick.

Hmmm. I've never had a problem, but I'm in an Asian country, fairly near the one where this whole thing originated. ;-)

I see them on the streets here all the time, and since most bars and restaurants DO allow smoking, it seems silly to even hesitate.

One of my local pubs doesn't allow smoking in the main room, though- I asked the owner if he minded vaping, and he pulled out his eGo.

THere are more of us than you'd think.

wow I wish I could vape indoors :( it is ban in the Seattle area(king county). You cant vape in a bar or anything like that! When the smoking ban hit Washington like 7 years ago they justified it with the second hand smoke is bad for people around you. But vaping has no second hand effects. They justified banning E-cigs(like a year ago) in Seattle by saying "it gives the perception to others smoking is ok" LMAO god I hate Democrats and their dam nanny state crap! Guess its the price I pay for living in a Blue stale LOL. But I love Seattle and would never leave :)

I'm new to e-cig and I've had tons of reactions already. I'm still kind of nervous about using them in restaurants because the first time I did, the waitress came running over and told me I couldn't smoke inside. I told her I wasn't and it was an e-cig and her reaction was oooooooooooh I heard about those. carry on then:). Now, I kind of hide it and limit my use in crowded areas. When people ask, I tell them I quit smoking because of it and if they want to quit to give it a try.

I have gotta few strange look when driving around especially on a hot day with the air conditioning on and both windows up with my wife and I driving around the city. I have even gotta few looks at drive thrus early morning coffee run when it is still somewhat dark out and the person in front of me sees a glowing blue dot they seem to move around in their car alot to try and see what I am doing. It will be interesting to try at a pub sometime because Ottawa is smoke-free at all bars and restaurant, etc.

I had my first bad experience over memorial weekend. Hubby and I went camping in our local moutains. Very small hickey town. We were camping by 40 or so others, Hubby grew up with. Being an outsider Cali girl myself is the first black mark I get. But as we were camping and I mean the entire adult crowd smoked non stop, so I had no issues pulling out my infinity. Well, let me tell you. That was NOT ok. Not only did NO one speak to me during those 4 days (I couldn't care less) But when I was leaving I started hearing whispers. Apparently people were saying that I was "smoking drugs" in front of their kids all weekend!?!?!?!?!? That did it I could careless at this point what people think. I will never be rude about it but I'm certainly not going to shrink from stares and insults.

Most say, "Is that one of those electronic cigarettes?" I explain it and they want to know where they can get one for someone they know that needs to quit smoking. I give them a website address and they write it down.

Ecigs are not for everyone. My brother in law wanted me to order one for him. I did, he tried it, and his take was that it was good for vaping at the Waffle House with his buddies, but not for places where he could actually smoke. He says it's not the same. I agree, but it actually is better tasting. Still, there's something satisfying in tobacco that fills a void.

This link talks about what that is. This is your brain on nicotine

I vape just about anywhere after about 15 minutes, If I'm in a nonsmoking area I usually just take one or two quick hits and I don't try to hide the vapor but I don't blow big plumes either. I do however tend to make a show of vaping when someone near me is wearing way too much perfume or cologne. I am just waiting for someone to say something so I can ask them which smells worse my vapor or the perfume. I have a very acute sense of smell, even when I was smoking, and most perfumes are highly offensive to me and irritate my sinuses.

I'm generally not an "In your face kinda guy". When I first started smoking cigarettes, my doctors smoked while they gave me my physical. Everybody smoked.......everywhere. I smoked in school, church, the hospital and at meetings with customers. Over the years, smoking in public or anywhere it could impact others became less and less acceptable. I learned to adapt and didn't smoke where it wasn't tolerated. Irregardless of what the FDa says, I took up vaping to replace cigarettes and that has worked very well for me. I continue my normal routine and do not vape in areas where smoking would not be permitted. I call it personal self control. I also don't vape where smokers congregate. I don't particularly care for the attention and i'm not very evangelical about converting others from analogs. I do know some younger smokers who use PVs to smoke everywhere they can't light up a cigarette and then go smoke analogs wherever they can. I find this practice self indulgent and an insult to those who want to quit cigarettes using this method. I also have little tolerance for those who never smoked a cigarette in their lives and take up vaping. But then I'm in my late 60s and I come from a different era where instant gratification and total self indulgence was not the norm. I guess you can consider me the intolerant, grumpy old f_rt of the group.

I get odd looks on occasion and I am not shy about it. If someone asks I tell them. I have only been vaping for 6 weeks and haven't had an analog since. I am in the national guard and a lot of my fellow soldiers are starting to get into it already. I've explained all about them to everyone in my unit. I am a proud vaper bit don't shame anyone who uses analogs and don't make it a mission to convert.

Woot first poast! :D

We are still in the minority compared to cigarette smokers. It will be a few more years before the public and the medical community discover that vaping is really more healthy than cigarettes. The health and clear lungs of vapers will be a statistic that doctors share.

My doctor allowed me to vape in the examining room once I told him I had switched. I asked him if he would like a demonstration. He said "Sure, go ahead." I blew out a plume of vapor and his eyes widened. I asked him if he smelled cigarette smoke. He said he didn't smell anything in particular, maybe a sweet fragrance (RY4). I handed him some web page prints and a page with some links to check out. Another patient I knew told me that our doctor now has a little display for smokers with pamphlets on electronic cigarettes as a method of quitting smoking.
