So I vape like a fiend on the way to and from work and have a big Volt x2 900 battery with a clearomizer. I have to admit to feeling just a little self conscious about it because I have never personally seen another vaper around here. I often look around at other drivers and catch them staring. I hope they don't think it is a (MODERATED) or something...anybody else feel weird about vaping in public ?

You'll get over it soon enough. (MODERATED) don't look like that anyway. Cops know what they are, for the most part, unless you live in Mayberry and have Barney Fife patrolling around. If a cop pulls you over and says it's because of your e-cig, he's a liar and would just as soon have told you you had a tag light out or didn't use your turn signal 3 miles back. Most regular people are just curious. Smile and wave.

Caution:
When wearing a tie dye tee shirt, don’t flash a peace sign when they look.
They will certainly get the wrong idea. ;-)

I was a bit self conscious about vaping in the car at first, but got over it quickly.
That said, there are some small towns here in central Illinois that I would think twice about before vaping something too unusual looking. Sailorman’s Mayberry reference applies here. In town though most people are too focused yacking on their cell phones and texting to notice.

I hear you there about the funny looks! I suppose it's still a rarity where I live and I've already had a couple double-takes at stop signs and parking lots with my mod.

It's been a week of vaping for me and never even gave myself the luxury to smoke in the car until then. So, between getting used to vaping and managing that while shifting around a 6-speed manual car, not to mention the everyday perils of driving here in Rhode Island, the last thing I feel like I should be doing is to bring any more attention to myself! Not particularly from the police, rather from the chowderheads on the roadways!

More and more people are becoming enlightened. They will enlighten others.

Law enforcement and airport security (for obvious reasons) are, if not well informed, at least familiar with e-cigs. I have never been questioned by any official.

While walking around the streets while on vacation in Cuba I was asked several times, by locals, about my "cigar" (black 1100mah eGo pass-through with a Star Dust) Lol !!

Relax, Enjoy!

I used to feel weird about vapeing in public... now I vape in the groccery store, at work and on the street. I welcome conversations about my E-cig. I love to telll people all about it (espcially smokers). Sometimes I sit outside at the smoking area at work and puff on my E-cig. Lots of good conversations come up and I am sure my suppliers like the free PR I provide.

That's the key part. Don't assume what other people think. Don't even assume they really look at you or care. We are wired to feel awkward when we do something others aren't usually doing, and when you're in that mindset it feels like everyone is giving you the look. Been there myself.

I havent seen anyone else vaping here(about 35k people city)and it sometimes feel like people keep looking at me like wtf is that man doing. Well i don't blame them since i mostly use box mods that do look like trigger devices :) but it might be that i am wearing stetson too and theres not many those either. I don't mind them and no one has yet to come ask me about vaping or these devices.

yeah, people do notice folks vaping.

smokers are most of the time interested, non-smokers sniff the air while charging me and stop with a funny face...

possibly the big shiny chunk of metal in my hand (provari v2 with extension cap and my choice of the moment among a plethora of weird-looking vaporizers) do raise some concerns :D

but I don't care too much.

I really dont care what people think. I just try and have fun with all the little stares. I like to break out the big guns when I know someone is really checking out my machine. Try vaping a 26650 Mastadon while driving down the road. It freaks certain people out!! I just hold up my little homemade sign that says "Doctor Prescribe"!!!!!!!!!!
