This is the first thing i see on the site. So FDA says we'd rather have you kill yourself than let you have vaping. This just piss me off more.

What is the most important safety information about CHANTIX?

Some people have had changes in behavior, hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions while using CHANTIX to help them quit smoking. Some people had these symptoms when they began taking CHANTIX, and others developed them after several weeks of treatment or after stopping CHANTIX. If you, your family, or caregiver notice agitation, hostility, depression, or changes in behavior, thinking, or mood that are not typical for you, or you develop suicidal thoughts or actions, anxiety, panic, aggression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia, or confusion, stop taking CHANTIX and call your doctor right away. Also tell your doctor about any history of depression or other mental health problems before taking CHANTIX, as these symptoms may worsen while taking CHANTIX.

While most people know of a few 'bad drugs', not so many realise that the whole drug-based paradigm is bad.

PCHOW! I like you. =)

Seriously, so many people are quick to run to drugs for their problems when simple diet/lifestyle changes would be more effective in most (if not all) cases. I wonder if this is the situation worldwide, or if it's just here in the "land of the free" that the populace has been so hypnotized by the philosophy of fear and dependency that they're afraid to try things that aren't "approved", rely on their own judgment and take care of themselves.

EDIT--realized that kinabaloo is in the UK. So I guess my question is: is there anywhere that hasn't been infiltrated by this cultural virus?

Also, poll: anyone from outside the US: what do you do that you wouldn't be allowed to if you lived here?

You answered the question yourself, by taking drugs they are looking for a quick fix without having to put out any effort.
I took the long road when I decided to lose weight, by changing my diet and going to the gym and working out 3 days a week. It took a year and a half but I've lost 60 lbs.
No diet pills or drugs were used in the losing of this weight :D

That is wonderful. I too lost a lot of weight (70 lbs) and did it through diet and exercise (OK and Weight Watchers!) but NO DRUGS!! THAT is why I have refused to even consider quitting the cigs until now. Just trying to cut down and I gained some of it back. I have been vaping for about a month now and no weight gain. Well a few pounds <5 but only because food tastes better and I have been a glutton . When I was trying to cut back on cigs, I was really, really careful and strictly monitored my caloric intake and still gained weight!

well congratulations to you too frankie1. Nothing wrong with Weight Watchers....their program is one of the few that are truly good, they teach you proper diet and portion control.

If I remember correctly part of the reason you may have put on a few pounds when cutting back is due to the fact that nicotine increases your metabolism. So even though you were keeping your intake down with the decrease in your metabolism that sparked in weight increase.

Keep up the good work :D

Yes, but this is the short list.

Of course each one of us always will find an excuse to put that kind of CR** in our bodies.

Every single drug, prescription or not, has the same "yellow pages" type list of side effects, some a little longer than others.
And to add insult to injury, most people don't only take one.

Yes, every drug has this long of a list of side effects, but most only cause one or two side effects in most who take it-- for instance, take one look at the "most common" side effects for ibuprofin: "dizziness, nausea, stomach cramps, headache, ........, skin rash..." yet when i take it, at most i might get a little stomach irritation.

The problem with the Chantix warning is exactly that-- it looks just like every other drug warning out there, which sends the message that while these side effects occur, they are not likely to happen to you. They are not doing nearly enough to emphasize how frequent and severe the side effects of this drug really are.

Yes, Warp, they all have a list. But it is important to look at the contents of the list.

There is a huge difference between the Chantix side-effects and the lists for the nicotine products. Nobody is committing murder or suicide from cewing Nicorrette or wearing a ptach.

Unfortunately, though, people are used to side effects like suicidal thinking, agitation, etc. Many of these are the same as the adverse effects of Paxil, Prozac and a host of other antidepressants. People are used to it. Everyone knows that antidepressants can cause suicidal behavior, but everyone also knows someone who have taken these drugs without a problem.

Same goes for Chantix. These side effects, while horrifying, don't afflict everyone equally. I've known quite a few people who have suggested Chantix to me because they say it worked for them (until they had a cigarette of course!). I've had far more people recommend it to me than warn me against it.

Word of mouth is the best advertising. Word of mouth combined with persuasive commercials is the very best.

That was my point. Of course people will have different reactions to any brain altering drugs such as chantix or the myriad of anti D's. Some good some horribly bad. My point is that how is this getting through FDA (altering brain chemisty for *** sake) compared to an ecig which does nothing to the brain only gives that dose of nicotine which keeps us hooked on analogs. FDA can approve messing with people brains. Great. Maybe if PV's made us see magical Unicorns and made me think I was Tron on one of those cool superbikes then it would get the FDA stamp of approval.
