How long did it take you to be analog free?

When ecigs first started coming out I couldn't quit at all. After 2 weeks I was back on analogs and used that crappy 100 mah batt off and on till last year when I got a 1000mah and some tanks.

Since then just the smell of analogs makes me want to puke.
So depending on how you look at it, either 4ish years(?Joy510 was the most recommended and brand new at the time)or 1 day.

I was a light everyday smoker, maybe 4 a day hand rolled. Then I got one of the cheapo pvs that looks like a real cigarette. After that I got some 901 parts used on the forum (ironically I can't access the classifieds anymore). Then I got the Janty Stick. Then I got the tornado or whatever, basically a nice eGo. I stopped vaping for a year or so and smoked about a pack that year.

I'd been having cigarette cravings so a couple weeks ago I got the eGo out and have been vaping. Last night I got the Janty Stick out and I like it better. Happy to be back! Now I just need a genesis hybrid :D

I started vaping in November of 2011. It took me five months to cut a 35-year, pack and a half per day habit down to zero. I have smoked nothing for nearly eight months. I'm not quite cigarette free... I still get a craving now and then but everyone who quits says those cravings can happen for years after quitting. A hit off the trusty E-Power 14650 makes the cravings go away.

I was able to quit my first day of vaping after 30 some years of smoking and that was over 6 months ago now :) Lucky for me I really did not experience withdraw symptoms I guess I started at a good nic level for me which was 12mg and actually I found that was a bit much after just a short while of just vaping so I was able to cut that in half to 6mg and found a very comfortable level for myself.
It is so different for everyone that you need to play around a bit to find your comfortable level. Maybe up your nic a bit if you are still having extreme analog cravings and don't be afraid to try different flavors of juice too.

I have smoked for 32 years and was up to about 2PAD of full flavor 100's for the last 3 years. I got my Ecab starter kit 6 days ago and I still have half of the pack I had opened that morning (which was the last one I had). I haven't completely quit the analogs yet, but I do not intend to push myself or make myself feel bad in any way for smoking a few analogs. The way I look at it is I have already avoided smoking 230 cigarettes in the last week alone, and trying to force myself not to smoke has never worked for me in the past. Every time I have tried to force it in the past, I ended up smoking more than I ever did before I quit.

This time (with no pressure of any kind) I have found that I automatically reach for the Ecab instead of the analogs. I want to 'smoke' the vapor because it tastes really good and every analog I smoke tastes nastier than the last one. I figure, at this rate, I will probably completely give up the analogs in a week or two. If really want or need to buy another pack of analogs, then I will, but I doubt that I will want them enough to bother. :)

It's so crazy to me to think I started smoking 17 years ago. For a long time I was a light/ social smoker, but gradually I maxed out at a pack a day. Knew that was bad for me so I cut back and a pack usually lasted me a few days, unless I was with friends and drinking. Under those circumstances I would wind up finishing my pack and bumming like fiend. More recently I would smoke only off and on like every other week with no intention of quitting, because I was thinking I had "quit" already. Then I was standing there one night smoking a cigarette in the cold and it hit me: "I'm smoking and telling myself I have quit, how dumb can I be?" Then I was like "Oh wait. I'm not dumb, I'm freaking stone cold addicted." So the next time I was tempted to buy cigarettes I picked up a metro disposable, that was in late September and haven't smoked an analog since! I have not been tempted to either, and that is the truly amazing thing because I loved smoking. After the metro I tried a BLU and liked it even more, they do not seem to last as long as the metros, but it keeps me away from the stinkies. I have a 3.7v SS mechanical coming Tuesday so hopefully I can become DIY master and just vape away into the sunset and never look back at tar sticks again.:toast:

Hubby suggested an e-cig for when we travel. That planted the seed. I researched and ended up here on ECF. I read and read and read and read. The day my kit arrived, I joined this forum. Immediately I dropped from a pack a day to 6 cigs that first day. For the next week I smoked 5 cigs a day. Then it dropped to 3 cigs for about 2 1/2 weeks. Morning cig was one of the harder ones to cut out.

I was sitting having that morning cig with my PV there also. I was reading the posts here on ECF and instead of picking up that cig that was burning in the ashtray, I picked up my twist instead. When I realized that I was reaching for that instead of the cig, that's when I knew I could get rid of the morning one.

The last one at night was THE hardest one for me. My last two days, before finally being cig free, I would take 2 hits off the cig and it was just gross. I would put it out. It took about a month for it to really switch from smoking to vaping. I never put any pressure on myself to actually quit.

I had a carton and I promised myself that would be the last I would buy. I figured however long it lasted that would be it.....to this day I have 7 packs in that carton. I have been cig free for 9 weeks now. :)

Whatever works for you to get there.....good! The less pressure you put on yourself the easier it will be. I never thought of the cigs I smoked as failing, I counted the cigs I didn't smoke as victory!

I smoked a pack a day for almost 40 years. I have tried every way to quit and never managed to quit for any real length of time. This was the most painless method for me. Yes, every once in a while I think about them, it's just a passing thought. I started vaping with 18 and 24mg nic. Still am. I have 15 and 12mg steeping for my step down. I will keep on hand 24mg in case I need the stronger.

Good luck in your and everyone else on your journey. Cheers to all of us :toast: ;)
