How many batteries do I need for this? And other quitting smoking questions.

Frustrated. I started vaping 5 days ago. I'm attempting to cut back and possibly quit smoking. It has help but... I have two batteries and they're both needing a charge now and I am nic-ing out so I'm posting here instead of smoking.

I've read lots and heard from a lot of people that they've started vaping and have up cigarettes that same day. I've cut back a lot. I only smoked a pack in 5 days! To those who quit smoking was anyone gradual or am I just being easy on myself?

I've failed quitting so many times due to rushing it and oooooh the anxiety and nic-panic ugh, the "im sure this is killing me" anxiety and the "when I get cancer I'm going to hate myself so much more" thoughts that run through my head every time i smoke... And oddly make me want to smoke so much more at times. Rambling but, is quitting smokes for vaping gradual for anyone?

And, at least one battery is done charging thank goodness!

Welcome, Captain Lady :)

Yes, lots do it gradually. I'm one of them. My reasoning is to take away the all-or-nothing thinking. My goal is to reduce my smoking. The fact that vaping means a 90% or so reduction practically off the top, is super great. When I want a cig, I have one ... the glory is that I only want one 2 or 3 or 0 times a day! Without the teeth-gritting, gotta-do-it pressure, smoking is losing its dominance. Suits me fine!

Do it your way ... it'll work :) Good luck !

Hi

Well, what kind of batteries are we talking about here? Need some more info about what you are using to answer that one. Like there's even a big difference in run time between a 650 mAh capacity eGo type battery and a twice as large at 1300 mAh. If you are talkig about mini cigalike batteries they have really short run times and you need a lot of them to keep ahead of the constant recharging those bitty batteries require.

Quitting? Relax. There is no rule book when you do it with vaping and everyone gets to do it in their own way. Some people do that "I picked up a PV and never touched a cigarette again!" thing. I wanted to reach out and hurt those people when I was switching. :glare: Personally, it took me three months to completely get off a 30 year 2 PAD smoking habit. I didn't see a problem with that. When I did have that last one in that last pack it was over. Haven't had another one since.

1100mah is the capacity of the lithium battery , as higher the number as higher the usage time without charging , I use a 1100mah myself and it usually last for almost the entire day .

anyway , you got a good nic level and device for a beginner , just try to keep vaping when you want to have a smoke , vape non-stop if you have to and eventually you'll have to desire to touch another stinky

Whatever came with it? It matches the battery part. Does those have special names too?

Actually, they do. And with the specific name there is also a specific resistance of the coil it has; like 1.8 ohm dual coil, 2.0 ohm, 1.5 ohm dual coil, etc.

Did you happen to purchase this online and if so, can you provide us the link so we can further assess your needs?

And the trick with having multiple batteries is if one dies, charge it, use the others that are fully charged, and so on...so you will always have something to use than having them all charge at the same time while none are available to be used.

Hitting reply a lot! Thank you guys. Nic fit satisfied without a smoke :) and support much appreciated. It's good to know I am not the only one struggling. Vaping has become the new thing with the coworkers. Seems there are more people vaping than smoking in the smoking area (we can't do it inside health canada being all opposed to it and such) and I've been feeling pretty bad since it's like everyone I know who does it wants to tell me how they haven't smoked since starting, how gross cigarettes are to them now, health reasons etc. I keep thinking what am I doing wrong but, I'm not. Yea, no all or nothing thinking, I like that.

By the way, I am super amused by calling cigarettes analogs.

We all found it amusing at first, then got accustomed to it. Now what counts is not if you quit or not especially since you just started your ecig journey, but how many cigarettes you didn't pick up. That's what I would say counts the most.

Now back to the interrogation. Were you able to find out what atomizer/topper you have attached to your evod twist? More specifically...I'm asking what resistance it is (ohms).

Once I made the switch I wasnt really planning on quitting cigarettes but was amazed at how quickly I cut down. Start using juices with higher amounts of nicotine and very slowly and gradually go to lower levels of nicotine. If you drop it down too fast you are more likely to go back to cigarettes to get your nicotine fix. Any amount of nicotine e-juice is much healthier than any cigarette would be. Take your time and enjoy it :) hope that helped, welcome to the forums and the ecig community

It came as a kit? And what voltage are you vaping on? What voltage did the person who sold you this advise you to use?

I ask this, because the resistance maybe too low resulting in you using up your battery too fast and requiring you to charge more often.

Higher resistance (ohm) results in the battery not needing much force (amperage) to heat your juice which in turn make your battery last longer before needing a recharge. And vice versa with lower resistance.

A lot of that comes from the American Cancer Society model for quitting - which doesn't work and hasn't changed in over 30 years. "Pick a quit date! Throw out your ash trays! One cigarette means you are a total failure loser!" We all know how well that approach works. Ironically, vaping having no rules works better.

Ok, maybe one rule: You have to want to quit smoking. This is so much easier, has better motivators (the taste, the hand to mouth thing, the flavors, the fiddling...) but vaping isn't a magic wand either. It's a great way to get to quit, but you still have to want to do it. How it happens exactly? There is no "exactly" - everyone gets to do it different. That's why it works.

By the way, I am super amused by calling cigarettes analogs.

Now don't you be too amused, someone else might find that annoying! :p => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...0627-am-i-only-one-who-hates-term-analog.html

By the way, have you found the Canada sub forum yet? => Canada Forum

It came in a kit.

They didn't tell me much. The kid who sold it to me admitted he didn't actually vape himself. It was a Sunday, I think he was filling in for someone. So I played around with it and I like to start at 4.8 to get that awful throat hit because I find it satisfying like when you first light a smoke then after a few goes I turn it down to 4.

Lol. That's actually the worst way of finding the right voltage for you because it ruins a new coil fairly quickly; if the coil is not built to handle that much voltage. A coil of 2.4 ohm and up will be able to handle that high of a voltage.

For new coils: start low voltage with a new coil, then after a few initial hits, gradually increase to your desired voltage.

But hey...if it works for you, so be it. Now to your battery dilemma, I suggest always having one fully charged battery at all times; one in use while the other charges since you said you only have two batteries. An 1100mah battery should almost last you a full day or even half a day at normal use (hit it a few times, or even at your normal 'smoke' breaks).
