When replacing the filament with hair it is important to remember that this will invalidate the warranty on your bulb. Similarly you may prefer a bulb that actually functions rather than one that just sits there with some hair in it. At the end of the day it's your choice - but don't say that you weren't warned!
Now you can carry around your replacement filament all day! Better than human hair, and you can belong to a HAIR modder CLUB too! WOOT!

Ask Duck about the details... I think I read that he's tried this, but don't know if he wears his.......... or just buys them for filler.

Of course, then... there is also the bra stuffing mod... handy for lots of gals! A problem for others...

Newbie question here...
I just don't have the time to keep reading all of this stuff and try to figure out which bulb is the best, so could some of you vets chime in and like... just tell me which one is the best?

I highly recommend to start your bulbing experience with a flat bulb. Unexperienced users often get frustrated from the common round ones. It’s just so easy for the rounds to roll from the desk and crack on the floor. Don't learn it the hard way, choose the flat.

OMG!!! I'm so happy to have found this forum!!

I've been using candles for quite a few years, up to 20 a day! Not only was it getting expensive but my thumb is calloused from having to work my lighter!!

Can anyone suggest the best way to start out with a bulb? I don't want to spend a lot of money and find out that it's not for me.

Thanks and ya'll rock!

I prefer to protect my replacements from harsh weather

so I go for the concealed approach

Welcome Piedlourde. Since you’re coming from analogs, you might perhaps wish to start off bulbing with some device that looks and feels very much like what you are using now?

By rule of thumb, however, the more it looks like a candle the less lumen will it deliver and the more you might be craving for light. Personally, I don’t care for those Lightning Everywhere candle-lookalikes any more. I’m just happy and satisfied some 60 Watt standard bulb for daily use. Anyway, I'm sure that you won’t fail, what ever bulbing device you're going to choose.

Sitting hear at the computer, switching on my elamp, and shining beams of light with my 4081 LB. I've been using this bulb for 6 months now.

elamp slipped off the table to the floor. And what happens? STONE COLD!! Nothing, ziltch, nada, zip, zero.

I forgot how much it sucks to break in a new bulb.

If anyone want's to know, its name was Fred.
