This might sound strange to some, but I only vape in private or I sneak into the bathroom at public places to vape.

What is interesting about this is that I was never a social smoker only. I smoked everywhere. The main reason I do this is that I do not want to have to explain all the time to people what I am doing. It just seems to be a bit of a hassle.

I was wondering how many of you do the same?

I vape (nearly) everywhere and usually very prominently. I don't mind explaining what the devise is and how it has helped me quit smoking. People are for the most part quite accepting and curious, especially since most people in this area either smoke or know smokers that would like to quit. Making people aware is the first step toward acceptance.

I was starting to become very self-conscious about smoking, but I have absolutely no inhibitions about vaping. I vape openly in any place that will allow it.

Same here.

I was a little self-conscious when I first started vaping and started to grow weary of the constant questions and amount of explaining I had to do. Then I soon realized that I loved talking about vaping, especially to current smokers who showed a bit of interest. And I like to think that it's in large part to my openness about vaping that has helped many of my coworkers (plus a few of their spouses/partners) to switch as well. I was the first at my company to switch. Two years later, sometimes I think the vapers almost outnumber the smokers.

So what I'm trying to say is be open with it. Live by example (and within the rules for wherever you are). Vape proudly. You might just help give a current smoker enough of a push to make the switch and change their life forever. :)

I vape just about anywhere smoking is allowed and a few places where smoking isn't accepted all that well. Going into a store I usually exhale and stick it in my pocket at the door and pull it back out as soon as I'm out the door. So far I've only had a few people ask me if it's one of those new electric cigarettes since the black Kr808 looks similar to one but obviously isn't. It doesn't stink and goes in and out of my pocket without lighting up or putting it out.

Never was one to smoke in private, so vaping in private naturally didn't occur. The attention doesn't really bother me and I enjoy discussing it with people who seem interested. If I can get just one to switch, or even look up ECF so they can see the big and helpful community we have here. By the time I started vaping, I was already being flagged down by random people asking me about my car(Mazda RX-8, rotary engine etc.) and what the pros and cons of it were, so now there's two things to talk about when people stop me. :)

BTW, my wife does seem to get irritated because those two subjects make me forget anything else I had to do for that day  ......

I was a closet smoker and I'm also a closet vaper. I don't like to attract attention. I do vape in bathroom stalls if I have it with me. I was ashamed to be seen smoking and very few people knew I smoked. I used to want to convert all my smoker friends but now I just concentrate on myself. I got tired of babysitting the ones who bought pvs... explaining all the ins and outs, keeping them supplied ect. I don't mind helping someone get started but after that, they're on their own!

I do dislike the newly converted saying "hey I'm out of juice so order me some" I showed them where to buy juice and supplies. Why do I have to hold their hand? I figured it out on my own.

when I first started I wanted to convert EVERYONE! I quickly found out that there are a lot of people not willing to do their own research and ordering... I ended up delivering juice and cartos and tutoring them about the best way to use them. I've only had one person who orders her own juice and cartos but she relies on me to research the best places to get them and the best stuff to get, which I don't mind. sorry to highjack the thread.. to get it back on track, my friend vapes everywhere and loves to tell people what she is doing and how to get it.

"I am vaper, watch me vape..." And let the public ask any vaping related question and I'll try to answer 'em! If I don't know the true answer, I refer 'em to the ECF.

No beta here...

I vape openly in public, but here's the switch: Last week I left home for work without my kit, just my ProVari and one carto that was probably 2/3rds full. (I didn't have time to go back and I did later find I had one of my spare 510 with a carto of unknown fullness in my pack) In a panic I smoked one of my emergency analogs hoping to extend my vape time -- and I was kind of embarrassed to be seen smoking it.

I vape wherever smoking is allowed or when I'm with people who understand what vaping is (i.e. the homes of non smokers who understand I'm not permanently stinking up the joint). Other than that I don't vape where smoking isn't welcome. It's not that I mind the questions (I ride a very cute, very high MPG Genuine Buddy 150 so I'm used to questions) but what I can't stand would be the arguments that would ensue when faced with someone who just doesn't want to hear it and insists I'm smoking. I don't need those kinds of hassles and since I was a smoker long before I was a vaper I've made peace with the fact that there are places where smoking, or anything that even looks like smoking, just isn't accepted.
