I took my ego to work today. Several people commented on it, but no negative comments. I tell people it was my portable hookah. One person is wanting to buy one for herself. The comment I did get from several people was that they know many people that have tried the e-cigs and did not last, or that they had one and stopped using it. One person knew all about my twist and was explaining it to someone as she was puffing on an analog.

So the question I have is how many people do you know that stop using e-cigs and what reasons did they give?

Most people who start out with overpriced/under performing ecig systems usually go back to smoking. Every smoker I've met who couldn't quit the eCigs usually state the eCig didn't satisfy their cravings. My older brother couldn't hang with eCigs for that very same reason... until I hooked him up with a 'great' eCig system. He's been smoke-free for 3 years now. :)

There are others I could name, but my brother is my favorite example...

I know of one friend who went back to cigarettes. He's not the kind of person that likes to tinker much, and while e-cigarettes don't take a lot of work and upkeep, they take a LOT more than pulling a cigarette out and lighting it on fire.

My fear is I'll stop because the ritual of going outside, of self-imposed breaks in my day-to-day life, is a big part of the experience for me. When I would try quitting cold turkey I would fail because I just needed a reason to walk outside every couple hours or so. Without having to go outside, I'm afraid I'm going to vape more and more until I'm even more addicted to nicotine than before. If that happens, it'd only take a dead battery and a rough day to drive me back.

The social aspect is something that makes it hard on me as well. While at work, I still go outside to vape. This way I can still keep up with the same people. I also go outside and vape at my house occasionally, for just the same reason. I also plan on keeping a spare battery and plenty of juice around.

IU did smoke an analog this morning, and am not that worried about smoking 1 or 2 a day. Less then a pack a week is much better than 2 packs a day.

The average of people that quit smoking with e-cigs seems to me to be greater than those that use other methods such as patches, pills. and cold turkey.

I have tried many other methods to quit and always got angry, irritable, hungry, and just down right not a pleasure to be around. The first time I tried an e-cig was about 8 years or so ago when GreenSmoke first came around. I spent $300 on a kit and used it about 3 days. Then it went into a drawer and was lost somewhere at some point.

Although I am doing rather well this time around it is still hard for me. Everyone I know smokes. The people I rent from smoke. I am always surrounded by people that smoke analogs. So the temptation to smoke one is always there. Most days I do pretty good and done smoke any. Now and then though I still break down and smoke maybe 1/2 of one.

I will get away from them completely one day but I'm still in the process of finding the right equipment. I just my spinner earlier this week, it has made a world of difference. Now to find a better VV rig and some great juice (although I have some good ones) and I should hopefully be set.

I want to introduce my brother to vaping, but he lives in Florida and I know without some help he would probably fail. He is a heavy smoker 2 pad and very busy with 2 jobs and helping to raise his 4 year old grandson. The first time something failed on him he would be reaching for a cig. I decided I am going to put together a fail safe set up for him and take it down there this summer. I am going to buy a decent vv/vw mod for home use and a couple of smaller ego,s for him to use at work. I will set him up with a variety of clearos and some juices. I figure if I give him everything he needs and show him how to use the equipment this will be his best shot. I know he doesn't have time to join a forum for support so I am going to have to do my best to help him long distance.

same here ive tried a couple different methods and it wasnt until I bought a decent kit the ecab and found a nice juice that I finally kicked the habit. It's a great feeling when you can go a day without thinking about an analog. I also still do my vaping outside guess its just a habit. It also didnt take long for the honeymoon period to wear out lol my wife at first was proud of me for quitting said they are great... but now they stink!! I think its more of when my atty starts to burn and for some reason she always tries and kiss me right after.

I know one who tried the blue disposable and went back. He said he liked the flavor and performance, but the kit wasn't on par with the disposable, and the disposable isn't cost effective, so he went back to a $10 a day habit. I assume cost and convenience were the biggest factors, but I also think he wasn't ready to quit analogs and/or a lifestyle change...I didn't bother with inquiries. Seems like some of the ones who don't succeed, don't have the desire to succeed and therefore, they say ecigs don't work...

I tried some gas station brands and my complaint was battery life and no "smoke". I found that I really like seeing the cloud while smoking. So I was soon back to analogs.

I have to admit. If a friend of mine hadn't visited from out of town I'd probably still be smoking cigarette's. He had a couple ego's with some vivi nova tanks. I saw the vapor cloud and loved the smell of the vapor... So I asked him for some info. He pointed me to a few sites. I got set up with an ego kit with some clearomizers. (should have started with the vivi's). Anyway...

I made the switch instantly and haven't looked back. I love how I feel and how I don't stink anymore. I've helped a few friends out and they are on their way too.

The bigest observation from others is that "Man that thing is huge". I'm not concerned with their opinions. I tend to go overboard so I've purchased quite a few other pieces. I love it and won't go back!

My girlfriend has tried it and is on analogs. She just won't take it seriously. Others I know still smoke a few analogs a day. I don't really get that.

As several people mentioned, hanging out here really helps. For me anyway. Keeps me interested in a hobby sort of way. Just wish I could afford to buy and try all these crazy rigs y'all talk about. :)

I only know one vaper that fell back...and I've no idea why. They "cheap disposable convenience store e-cigs" wasn't the issue. This lady had some of the fanciest, most advanced PVs that were available the past couple of years...including several nice VV units and (I think) even a ProVari. It wasn't that she didn't have good juice. She had become a DIYer and had several that she claimed she "loves". She even makes juice for other family members who are still vaping. She had numerous delivery systems that she said worked very well...cartos, carto tanks, atomizers, etc. That didn't seem to be a factor. Yet...in less than a year she'd relapsed back to smoking. She remained active in vaping forums, but still smoked. The real mind boggler is that she has COPD...and has had several serious problems where her lung collapsed and she's been hospitalized. She's a young woman...I don't think she's hit 40 quite yet.

WHY did she go back so smoking? No idea. I know she still buys vaping equipment and dabbles at "quitting". She's gotten a few new things in recent months that are quite nice. But she smokes. Why does she buy the stuff? I don't know. Maybe she keeps hoping she'll finally quit smoking for real if she gets just the right device and set up. Seems to me that she's already got a lot of choices of excellent equipment already. I think what it boils down to is she doesn't really WANT to quit smoking, and isn't being honest with herself. COPD and all...she wants to smoke. So she does, and no vaping system is going to work until she faces her demons and makes the switch in her own mind.

Well I vaped before for over a year and unfortunatly went back. I had some issues come up and let my supplies dwindle and didn't have any stores in the local area that I knew of that sold e-cig supplies so went to the gas station down the road and that was the end of it. Now back at it finally after around a year off and plan to make it this time. Found a store not to far away for emergencies and am going to ensure I have plenty of supplies on hand. The more options you have the better, ie rig's, flavors, etc. Now I have a twist, my Silver Bullet and a Vamo all going at the same time. So I think I am good this time. :D

i have used a ecig about 2 years ago when the v2 came out i didnt like the vapor production i think thats the main reason is people try the crappy ones and dont give any other a try. my neighbor tried blu about a year ago and i showed her my mod and she fell in love and bought one herself

i think vaping is the best thing ever i have gotten 4 people to quit smoking analogs and start vaping one being my dad whose been a 2 pad smoker for as long as i can remember he just switched and still has analogs after he eats but hes doing good sorry im just rambling on about nothing lol

I started with an Njoy a few years back the battery life was very short and the "juice" burned my throat. I only used it for a month.
I smoked for a few more years at 3 PAD, I decided to give it another try after lung surgery. I got an Ego with some bad juice and that lasted about 2 months. I smoked for another 6 months and decided to give it a try again.
This time I have found several juices I like and up graded my PV and can't imagine going back to analogs.

Me. lol The first time was with the little doohickies filled with stuffing that don't last long enough. Plus it was awhile ago and the flavors weren't that nice. A nice long lasting battery (or 2 or 3) with enough juice to last me for hours and I'm good this time.

^^^ This. The orginal Titan 510 I had just didn't cut it and the juices back then were pretty horrid. Whole new ball game this time around. A regular cig tastes bad to me now.

Same for me, except mine were 901's. Technology has finally caught up to my addiction and I'm at 3 months and counting without a single puff from an analog.

Comments like the ones in this thread are why I dislike companies like Blu and Greensmoke so much. I feel they may introduce more people to electronic cigarettes but ultimately do more harm than good when people try them, think they are the best there is and quit in frustration without trying any other options.

I know 4 people, other than myself, who have tried vaping. All except 1 are now avid vapers and wouldn't go back to smoking - I am in this group. The 1 person who didn't stick with it is my Mother In Law. She never really wanted to try e cigs but she has mild COPD and was getting pressure from her family to switch. She took a few drags on a few occassions but never seriously gave it a chance. She has a couple of Volts with a bunch of pre-filled cartridges - so hopefully she'll decide to give it a real shot sometime. I think she kind of feels silly and self-conscious "smoking" a battery - and also a bit intimidated by the electronics.

Just like many others here in this thread, I'm one of the people who went back to analogs after a while. My first vaping period was with a penstyle back in 2009, when I was able to stay away from the stinkies for about 4 months. 6 months ago I decided to have another go at vaping, and now I have found myself a setup with which I'm confident that I'll be able to stay off the analogs for good. Getting decent gear and spending time on the forums has been a great help for me. So a big thank you goes out to everybody here at ECF, for keeping my new hobby interesting.

It was a e-smoker store with couches to sit down and socialize.

I believe the biggest problem is that quitters aren't getting enough Nic.

The trend is towards sub 20mg. I was in a smokers lounge and they were freaked that I was vaping around 36mg-40mg liquid.
By the way Disclaimer: Smoke the lowest level that satisfies you and if you go above the 20s do it cautiously.

Cigarette smokers are used to higher levels of nic and sub 20 for many (not all) pack a day smokers is like giving a beer a day to a alcoholic.
