how many set ups did you go through to find the one?

So I am pretty new to this.. one month off real cigs.. and I used green smart living to quit and then tried an ego-t battery with a saturn atomizer. it was basically a disaster if you read my other posts. i was fighting plastic taste, leaking into the battery issues and just general this is tooo hard. i need something easier.. no dripping down the side.. something you can just snap on a go without leaking or freaking out that i am doing something wrong. so i was wondering what people recommend. ideally i would just like to have cartidges to refill and stick on.. which brand.. whats simple? auto draw or button is fine for me. i figured out the manual.. but anyways i have been reading, reading and all this info is going to make my head explode... but still need more help so i thought i would ask again.. as i a beyond frustrated with the saturn atty, both ended up stripped, one smelled like plastic and they went in the trash... now back to green smart living cartidges till i find something easy..

Im still experimenting at almost 2 years in. I do have a standby that took about 6 months to get right, but I enjoy playing with the latest and greatest to come out. It took me about 4 tries to get my "ideal" set up, of course it may change if something comes out(or I get around to buying it) that gives me a better vape.

Hey there, congrats quitting analogs! I feel ya on the issues though, sometimes this stuff can be really hit or miss. But the tech improves and changes very fast, so that means that what is just ok today may be pretty awesome in a few months. The real question is what exactly are you looking for? Are you going more for the shape and feel of a traditional cigarette, or are you more interested in long battery life and juice capacity than form function? If you don't care what it looks like and want something easy I recommend the ego-c changeable atomizer head system with either a standard ego battery or an ego Twist if you feel like trying some variable voltage. The little atomizer heads pop out and you replace them when it burns out, and it uses an ego-t tank, so it holds about 1.2 mLs per refill. The silicone lids on the tanks fixed pretty much all of the leaking problems. If you're more suited to something like a cigarette, I've been looking at the joye eroll a lot lately, uses the same ego-c changeable atomizer heads and is sized like an analog, looks to use 510-t tanks which are abou 0.8 mLs, otherwise works the same as the ego-c. Anyways, welcome to vaping and to ECF, this place is great, if you ever have questions the people on here are really helpful and knowledgeable. Best of luck to you!

I've had a few setups.
My first was the mistic from Walmart... Gross.

My last and current setup is a Texas tuff tank from vape dudes on an ego twist battery, with ego t for backups.
Basically I didn't get into the twists until my ego t broke, and bought some new ones, and have ego t as backup batteries.

The tuff tanks don't leak, they taste great, and citrus won't crack them.

Just now, after roughly a year, I found my favourite kinds of atomizer...stainless steel sieve along with dual cartomizer tanks...and I'm pretty happy with my mods...
But I know I will want a Provari...once the funds allow it...and there are a few other items on my list.
However, the grand search for the perfect combination is more or less over, I think. And I'm NOT buying ALL the new stuff that comes out anymore. I more or less found out what I like and what I don't like...and only get tempted when something new comes out that fits my taste...lol
The WTHV (Want-To-Have-Virus) is definitely loosing its grasp on me... *grin*

I'm still new at all this myself.

Started with an overpriced vendor using proprietary threads. Then got an X2 and spent the last month and change finding a decent delivery system.

For me, that turned out to be a tank system. It's simple and basic, just re-fill the tank a few times a day. And when you're able to sit still and relax, you just remove the tank and drip.

There's other mods in my future. I've got the Katana kit in the mail, just so I can compare the eGo and the vGo. The iGo Revolver is coming for Christmas. I'll probably end up grabbing the Screwdriver at some point.

But the 901-T will probably always be my favorite. It's about as simple and basic as can be and it works.

thanks for the advice.. i am looking for something with a longer battery power than the green smart living batteries but a simple system.. i would even buy pre-filled cartridges to make it easier.. the filling, cleaning, wicks, this stuff is tough for a newbie.. all my friends use cheapies so they dont have experience with the ego and such.. i will check out your suggestions, maybe ego-c will be right for me. glad other people had to try different things until they found whats right for them. i am going to keep my ego-t battery and look for somehting easy.. i just wish they ones with higher battery power had the ease of operation of green smart living..

most of us start the same(cheep) and move on to more expensive trying to get a better and less troublesome vape.
i started with BLU's they were horrible had to keep smoking some to get my nic in, then moved on to some disposables from a gas station forgot the name but they tasted like hell but worked but cost me a small fortune.

then at the mall one day i found the ego-t i really thought i had found the best thing ever.....well after a few weeks i was realizing paying $15 per atty and dealing with all the leaks was less then a perfect vape.

so after looking around the net for awhile deciding buying local was not going to cut it anymore i found the lavatube with the lava tank
now this worked great for along time i even got myself a spare when the V2 came out, only downside was sticking with the same flavor for a few days due to the size of the tanks.

then i found the vivi nova's and wow absolutely fell in love with them after trying my first one i ordered another 5 of the minis and 5 of the full sized and like 30 spare attys (i use the minis on some ego batterys when i go out)

then i started to see alot of great reviews for the Zmax so broke down and ordered one not expecting it to be any better then the lava tube wow was i wrong i absolutely love adjustable wattage now best vape experience ive had in two years now. i was about to order another one but then saw the vemo and that it has adjustable wattage so i just ordered two Vemo's(well the new vision mod versions) because everyone is saying there just like the zmax but at about half the cost.

so for me the best combo i have had to date is the zmax with the large vivi nova, gives a great vape,i never get the burn taste,no leaks ever,no hassle when changing resistance with new attys thanks to wattage settings, and one tank lasts me about a day perfect for me because i like to change flavors everyday(sometimes more often using spare tanks and e-cigs)

as far as e-juice goes ive tried most company's out there but most have at least one downfall whether it be to weak a flavor,or to thick a juice mix or just to expensive, so a few months back i just started to buy 24mg flavorless ejuice in 500ml bottles for about $25 i use a mix of about 85%pg 15% vg so it wicks well, was using 25%vg in the summer when juices are alittle thinner do to heat, and i just flavor them myself thanks to lorann and TFA i use about 15%/20% flavoring and puts me down to about 18mg of nic in my mix, just were i like it and has good strong flavor and easy to fix if its to weak or to strong:)

thanks everyone.. i will investigate the joye roll-e more.. it looks awesome and i do like the mini.. i don't really like holding something giant.. i did pick up an extra green smart battery.. my problem was that they would sometimes run out when i was out and about, i couldn't tell when they would quit on me. i love the taste of green smart acai so i may have found the perfect device but i wanted a little more vapor and throat hit.. just something a little more powerful and satisfying. I was a 3/4 pack a day smoker for 10 years, marlboro and camel lights, i recently turned 30 and it was time to say goodbye to my old friend. the green smart is good enough for now but i will do more research before i buy again, something mini with cartridges is prob best for me.

Blu with cartridges
V2 & V4L 808's with cartomizers
Riva with cartomizers, Chibi carto tanks
Spinner & Twist with the carto tanks, Vivi Novas
Provari with Chibi, Vivi Nova

Only advantage I see in the Provari over the Spinner so far is the battery life

Using right now: Provari with the Chibi

They were all part of my learning curve and each and every one had its part in helping me not smoke

There is no way I would have jumped right in with the Provari and Chibi.....

Good luck

My journey so far...

Started with a Provari kit, some extra LR and SR cartomizers as well as a couple ego-t atties and a bunch of ego-t tank
cartridges.

Found the LR stuff not so good on the v1 Provari and the ego-t (type B) tanks leaked and were inconsistent.
Either dry hit or flooding. So the SR cartos were good for a while.

Then the "stardust" type clearos came out, grabbed a couple at different ohms, found the SR 2.8ohm the best on
the Provari. Grabbed another 10 of them. Then out came the V3 "Stardust" types with replaceable heads and parts.
Bought 2 complete units plus "3" 2.8ohm spare heads. That was almost 6 months ago now and I've still got 2 spare heads,
I just keep cleaning and re wicking the heads with cotton. The 2.8 ohm heads last me for months with regular cleanings and maintenance(dryburning). I use them pretty much constantly/exclusively.

At one point in time a few months back a new mod became available, handmade by a fellow countryman(Switcher).
I needed another device like I needed a hole in the head, but the "new" and the "shiny" bug bit me, along with a little
Made in Canada type patriotism, so I bought the 50cal. with Kick mod with a couple of IKV atties.

My dripping elevated to new levels with the IKV atties on the 50cal. with the kick. Unfortunately the only time I could use
it was when I was at home to drip. It (the 50cal.) has an 801 connector so I could not use my 510 Stardusts on it.
The 801 to 510 adapter did not work well with the set-up as it was, so I sent it back to Switcher and he fixed it up
so I could use the 801-510 adapter on it. (Basically only paid the shipping for this. :thumb: to Switcher)

Can't say enough about the quality, the excellent vape and the service from jrcustomturning, along with being able to adjust
the wattage using the kick. A truly great combination.

Then I had to see what the RBA devices were like so I grabbed a cheap gennie clone to try.(12 bucks)
Along with some cotton wick and wire. Tried the SS mesh but the cotton is working the best for me right now.

So I have 2 great devices sitting here, one topped with a Stardust clearo, one with a RBA and 2 different juices. One my homemade DIY Vanilla Cupcake and in the RBA a nice Peach vape atm.

That's basically "my" journey so far.
Humble and short as it is, it's keeping me off the stinkies.:vapor::vapor:

All the best and good luck on your journeys yogisd!

convienent store ecig - little puff of vapor - returned it next day

510 Titan from Totally Wicked - constantly getting liquid in my mouth and constantly charging battery. started smoking

Ego-t - was suppose to be the game changer - $10 atomizers only lasted a couple of days - too expensive

Go-Go - way too airy and not enough vaper. started smoking

Provari V2 with DCTank and 2.0 ohm Carts - Reliable with sufficient vapor and flavor - a $2 cart i can clean and reuse. Playiing with some cheap RBAs waiting for the game changer - NOT SMOKING

Some of my family members had been vaping for a few years, so thanks to their recomendations, I was able to get a decent lowcost components to start out and see if vaping was something I'd like to stick with:

2 Joyetech eGo/510 900mah passthroughs
2 Vision Vivi 1.6 ml clearomizers

I was immediately hooked! The passthroughs allowed me to vape while they charged and they're cheap. The clearomizers fit and look good on them. Being a DIYer generally, and knowing I wanted to continue this for life, I decided to lower my long term costs so I bought:

1 Vision Vivi Nova 2.5ml tank (good beginner's DIY learner of sorts)
1 Vision Vivi Nova mini (rebuildable like the Nova, but smaller for travel)
1 500ml bottle of straight 48mg/ml nicotine USP in VG
1 1000ml bottle of pharmaceutical USP grade VG
1 bottle of distilled water
1 5ml bottle of "Creme De Menth" (by The Perfumer's Apprentice (TPA)) for flavoring
100 ft. of Kanthal A-1 32awg heating wire.
30 yards of square-braid candle wick size #1/0 (100% cotton and boiled multiple times to remove any "sizing")
5 pairs of surgical gloves
Various plunger type needles (3ml to 30ml capacity)
various bottles to hold my DIY mixes (15ml - 60ml)

Learned the ins and outs of DIYing my fluid; figured out what tastes I like; tried various and realized I prefer the subtle sweetness of VG and nic which is usually all I vape. I've found that the A-1 32awg Kanthal is a good, universal size (along with the square-braid cotton wick) that works great in all the vivis I own. There may be some slight improvements by using other sizes, but this size works best for me.

Once I figured out my tastes and preferences, and reading about all the various "high-end" PVs, I purchased:

1 ProVape Provari
1 SmokTech "Hyper SRTII" - First "easy" Rebuildable RBA. Air is bottom-fed; like vivis. The taste is the best I've experienced. It only lasted a few weeks, but this may be a fluke, not a typical quality indicator.)

1 AGA Hydra - First "real" RBA. There's a bit of a learning curve involved, since these are nothing like vivis or the SRT. The airhole is on the side of the top cap. Some work is required (light sanding, possible airhole enlargement, etc.) to get this to vape good.. But once it's "dialed in" it's a silky smooth vape. Nothing quite like all Stainless Steel. VERY heavy, looks durable enough to stand up to real abuse. Very universal. I can vape cotton wicks, stainless steel mesh, etc.

1 AGA Tiamat - Very similiar to the Hydra, except I can see my fluid level and know where my coil is without removing the cap to look. The plastic tank is at least 3 mm thick. Looks durable; no leaking at all so far. Vapes very much like the Hydra. It heats up a little quicker due to less stainless steel overall. It's huge though; larger than the Hydra in diameter.

1 SmokTech "R" RBA - Bought this one to compare against the "Hyper SRT II". It is visually identical to the SRT. I'm curious to see how long it lasts and what the little differences are. It's also a very good vape; slightly tighter draw compared to the SRT. Vape is as good as the SRT with the coil/wick I'm using. I've modifidied it a bit (enlarged the wick holes to 2mm) for the thicker cotton wick.

My size/selection of heating wire and cotton wick works very well in all the vivis and RBAs mentioned above. I ALWAYS submerge both ends of the cotton wick(short or long) into the fluid. Just like the vivis :) I'm sure there's some room for improvement, and I'll be investigating more in the future for certain!

That's my abridged story so far.
